Property Ratings at Newport
I just want to say that in this whole development of apartments there is the nicer area, and there is the not soo nice area. Nearby the leasing office is where we live…. Garbage always overflowing, tennis court, no net, cheap backetball hoops with no backboard and the court is dirty and never kept up. There are two huge bars on the ground behind the pool that has been sitting there for 8 months. They claim to be “doing maintenance” on the pool area. Not a change since I’ve got here. Not to mention its dangerous, if my kids go back there to play and trip over those things. Rent is not bad but for what we are paying we exprct the area to be kept up. There are also loud parties at the pool almost EVERY WEEKEND when the leasing people leave…. And thats fine….but the parties are until about 3am. Thats a problem. The pool hours do not apply and the people are soo disturbing. The other side of the development is nicer. There is a dock, a nice pond and the dumpsters are always clear. I just wish they would move us to that area. this just my personal experience. Inside of the apartment is nice, most of the outlets dont hold plugs, the doors are stuck closed bc of the paint job, and there are bee hives outside of our windows. We did have Little bit of an ant problem, millions of ants in our toilet and tub faucet, but pest control took care of that. One more thing, the pictures on these apartments need to be updated. They are blue and grey… not orange and yellow. The pictures are very deceiving

Thank you for the positive review! We know you have a lot of choices in Tampa and you choose to stay with us. we are happy to have you call Newport home.
Not the worst place to live, but certainly has a fair share of issues. Space is nice, if a bit expensive for what you’re getting, but the actual apartment is good. Location is nice, outside the major city area yet still close enough to reach local grocery stores, gas stations and a nice view of Hillsborough river. However we’ve had constant issues that even after living here for 3 years, seem to either be ignored by the maintenance office or continually reoccur even after being fixed. We’ve had to have maintenance fix a problem with bats entering the house more times than I can count. The dangers of having bats in the house is bad enough, but we also have a cat that could potentially get an awful disease from them. On top of that, the amenities are riddled with issues. Our dishwasher functions, but has never actually been able to clean anything, the A/C unit freezes which makes it harder to actually cool the apartment even after having it checked several times now, and by far the worst was our bathroom. I stepped in to take a shower and heard a snap. Looked down and the bathtub had cracked. This wouldn’t be an issue on its own, but when maintenance came, they simply told us they’ll have to hire outside help to fix it. I contacted the office multiple times and each time they told me they cannot give an estimate of when it will be finished, who will be working on it, or even when they will send someone to fix it. I checked again about a month after maintenance first came, and they had closed the request saying it was completed! Luckily we were in a 2 bath apartment so we could still shower, but this was by far the most infuriating part of living here. 2 stars for being a decent place to live compared to the surrounding areas of Tampa, but the multitude of issues from living here prevents me from recommending Newport as a good place to live.

I recommend these apartments, ignore the bad comments. There are NO cockroaches in my house and everything is very good, just call the office if you have any difficulties at home and they send the maintenance people. It is a super quiet place. The office staff is very professional.Dayanis is very kind and gentle, she has helped me with all my moving process and is always there for everything.Happy to have moved here

Muchas gracias! Me da gusto que usted esta contenta en Newport Apartments!
I’ve been living here for about three years and it has progressively gotten worse as time has gone on. This place can’t keep employees... the office has gone through 3 managers and 6 or 7 office workers have come and gone. Maintenance is the same - the entire team quit and they’ve been coming and going ever since. The newest manager Alicia is awful. We’ve had an ongoing noise complaint with the apartment above is for over a year now and at this point she doesn’t apologize that this hasn’t been resolved.... she’s told us now that we are the problem. Their only solution is telling us to call the police. The office worker Dayani told us that our neighbors can leave their door open with their music blasting all day until 10pm if they want... according to the lease that’s not true and the police have also told me there is no longer a specific time and that noise disturbances like that are never acceptable. Dayani told us that if we have an issue we should stop signing the lease. Nice huh? On one occasion we got locked out of our apartment because the lock was broken… Which is something we had been complaining about to the office for months. We had a key with us but it wouldn’t unlock the lock. It was 95 degrees when it happened and the staff were gone for the day, so we had to leave a message for the on-call person. When he arrived he wouldn’t help us get in bc he was helping make someone else’s AC cooler.. priorities? We are locked outside in 95 degree heat and that person is inside with AC that just isn’t cool enough. When we asked if he could let us into our apartment first, he told us that being locked out is not an emergency(even though according to the office voicemail it is) and he could leave us outside all weekend if he wanted to. Super long post but I could keep going. The place is getting dirtier and dirtier bc they’ve clearly stopped caring... the bugs are out of control... all systems (AC/heating etc) are so old but they’re too cheap to replace anything. And don’t bother trying to call the company that owns the property to help... it sends you to a google voice voicemail. I’ve left 3 messages for the area manager and have not heard back. The only pro to this place is the location... it’s the only reason we’ve stayed as long as we have. But we’ll be getting out as soon as we can. You don’t want to live here... I promise you.
I moved into Newport Apartments about 2 weeks ago. At move in, the leasing manager walked me over to my apartment to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. When I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised that my apartment looked exactly like the upgraded model. I have new carpet, new appliances, and freshly painted walls. The apartments are older, but they are in great condition. There’s a dog park onsite, oversized swimming pool that goes up to 6 feet, beautiful clubhouse and fitness center. The grounds are maintained well. I live on the bottom floor and it’s been very quiet. The only noise I hear is an occasional car ride by. My apartment is very clean, I have not seen any roaches, rodents, or any bugs in the apartment. We chose Newport Apartments because they have short term leases. The management staff are friendly and the customer service is excellent. I’m happy with my decision to live here.
Been a resident for 3-4 months and they are friendly when they are showing the apartment to you, but after you sign an intent to lease be prepared for a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde staff, phone calls unreturned and totally unfriendly staff. All the apartment complexes in this area are gorgeous! EXCEPT for this one! You have broken window blinds, people using sheets, towels, flags as curtains, ripped screens, missing screens, dirty walls, rotten wood, repaired wood that has not been painted, overflowing dumpsters and residents using their balconies for storage, we even have a resident who is using their bacony to store their MOTORCYCLE....and the only way to get it to the balcony is through the apartment! Look elsewhere for your apartment!
I’ve been dealing with a massive bathroom leak and mold in my apartment for a little while now. Repeated calls to the front office and not once has anyone lifted a tool to fix it. Sure, my boyfriend and I have called off of work to have maintenance come by but every time all they seem to do is “asses” the damage. 3 Times now has someone come by to see the damage and not once has anyone attempted to actually fix it. And now they’re trying to blame us saying we’ve known about this issue, why would I WANT to live in a moldy apartment? Why, if I knew this was going one, would I subject myself and my family to possible health issues? I’ve spoken with the neighbors and they’ve had a mold issue as well. This whole complex should be condemned.
DO NOT MOVE IN SERIOUSLY!!!!! all of their apartments are infested with roaches and my room mate and I are really clean people. We are so happy to finally be moving out. We have been struggling with this since about 2months after we moved in and we have complained to them about this issue and they sent out pest control and the guy was in there for 1 minute and I'm not even exaggerating and the issue only got worse. Our rent is fairly expensive and we shouldn't have to deal with that issue. HATED LIVING HERE FOR THAT REASON.
noisy neighbors, invaded roaches in apartment. I thought this place would be good to live in but I thought wrong.
This is an amazing place to live if you like quiet communities, amazing and informed staff, very friendly neighbors. Usually you get a "okay" maintenance staff but this apartment's maintenance It is in walking distance of a Walmart Neighborhood Grocery and a Super target. The apartment has a good sidewalk trail that wraps around the big beautiful. It provides a bit of seclusion but keeps you within arm's reach of places of interest.
