Situated in the Coastal Plain region of southeastern Virginia, Franklin has a rich history as a center of trade and transportation for surrounding countryside because of its strategic location on the Blackwater River. Franklin serves as an important rail point between Norfolk and the Western Roanoke Basin to this day. Agriculture is Franklin’s major industry, leading production in cotton, peanuts, and hog-raising.
Franklin offers residents a small-town atmosphere and a strong sense of community. Residents come together for special events such as the Franklin Fall Festival, Market on Main, and the We Be Jammin’ summer concert series. Franklin boasts a charming downtown area teeming with shops, boutiques, and restaurants along historic Main Street in addition to familiar national retailers in shopping centers along Armory Drive. Major destinations like Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Richmond, and the Outerbanks of North Carolina are all about an hour’s drive from Franklin.

Property Ratings at Newport Village Apartments
I have been a resident at Newport Lake for right about four years Newport Village rent is reasonable the community is quiet and decent not a lot of children for the most part no drama at this small community. Apartments are well-kept; the leasing manager and maintenance staff is above average.
