Every city has an “it” neighborhood – fun, funky, close to everything – and for DC, that neighborhood is Logan Circle. Named for a historic traffic circle ringed with Victorian homes, Logan Circle is beautiful, trendy, pedestrian-friendly, and filled with terrific boutiques, restaurants, theaters, art galleries, and bars. Think second-hand stores and avant garde films, dive bars and elegant French restaurants. Being DC’s “it” neighborhood, Logan Circle apartments are in very high demand.
You’ll find a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and theaters along 14th Street. If you are out shopping and want to stop for lunch, Le Diplomate is rumored to have the best burgers around. In the evening, Sotto is the place to be. For tapas, head to Estadio. Catch a play at Studio Theatre, or take a walking tour of the area’s numerous art galleries. If you want to furnish your new DC apartment, find just the right vintage or shabby chic item at Miss Pixie’s Furniture & Whatnot.

Property Ratings at Newport West
I recently had to leave Newport West because of an ongoing pest problem - we struggled with mice for almost our entire duration until finally we had to get the Housing department to come and review the living area. After the review, the situation was so bad we were able to get out of our lease and finally leave. The only thing that made us stay as long as we did was Gary - the Gelman company though, refused to help us until the bitter end.
We loved our 18 months at the Newport West. Shelby and Gary are wonderful -- friendly, helpful, prompt, and thoughtful. The building has great charm and character and you'll get noticeably more square feet than you will in comparably priced apartments in the neighborhood. The rooftop pool facilities are a great bonus, and the shared laundry room always has plenty of machines. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the action of Logan Circle and accessible to all of the city's metro lines. The building's soundproofing is pretty good, and we never had issues with noisy neighbors or pests. We were sad to leave, but had to relocate to shorten commute distance. Overall, a refreshing apartment experience. I highly recommend!
I lived here for a year in a studio and it was great. Both Shelby and Gary are amazing and any maintenance requests were always completed within 24 hrs. Would recommend!
This building has an amazing location in the heart of Logan Circle that can’t be beat. Such a unique building layout with only odd number floors, stairs going into most apartments, and many balconies or views of the neighborhood. Relatively quiet building and very pet friendly. Shelby and Gary are rockstars and quickly and professionally handle any issue, while being so friendly. Anna who cleans the building is so warm and friendly. Lived there for 3.5 years and miss it.
Lived there from April 2016 until Jan. 2023. Great neighborhood. Cool split-level layout of apartments, with balcony, big sliding door, windows that open, lots of natural light. Walls are real plaster, so you don't hear your neighbors, unlike in newer buildings with sheetrock walls. The property manager, Shelby, and building engineer, Gary, are both really great--kind, reliable, service-oriented, attentive to detail. Cannot beat location.
I loved my little apartment here! Close to everything, spacious, huge closet and windows even though building is older. But the star is Gary, the maintenance man and friend to all tenants. He is so smart and knowledgeable, and fixed everything quickly even when I had a complicated leak. The cleaner is also great. Management rotates leasing managers every 3 months like most crappy owners, and they’re not so amazing, but Gary’s consistency makes up for it. I miss living here!
Lived here for a year and was sad to leave. Newport West is in an excellent location and has the charm of older buildings without the issues that sometimes accompany them. The maintenance technician, Gary, was our favorite part of living here. He made us feel like family. Gary turns Newport West from a place to live into a home. You should live here. And Gary should get a raise. Amen.
We just moved out of Newport West after 2 years and would have stayed longer if it weren't for our relocating out of the city. You truly can't get a better location in the city (CVS, restaurants, and Whole Foods literally right downstairs) and the staff is uniquely good. Property manager Shelby has done a ton to improve tenant experiences in her time here (updating laundry and mail processes, giving new access to a gym in a neighboring building) and maintenance guru Gary truly brightens everyone's day - he fixes everything promptly and warmly and remembers personal details. We will really miss the community here!
I have lived at Newport West for almost a year, and I absolutely loved it! The location is unbeatable! You walk everywhere. The management team is exceptionally professional and responsive, from Shelby, the property manager, who is attentive and is currently making minor improvements to the property. She has a unique eye for detail and is bringing a feminine touch to our charming building, to Gary, the maintenance guy, who is always there to fix anything and cheer you up.
I just moved out after 2+ years (to a house I've bought). The location and apartment size are the biggest pluses. If you can afford downtown DC, you cannot get more for your dollar. The staff are particularly helpful and kind, and Gary always handled my issues/requests immediately. Everything was a bit older due to the date of the building, but clean and in good working order. Highly recommend!
I lived at Newport West for about 2 years and you can't beat the location - central to almost everything in D.C. The building also has perks like included utilities, nicely finished kitchens, and a friendly maintenance man, Gary. The building is a bit older, but they do their best to keep it updated. You will have to adjust to street noise on lower floors, but that's just 'city living.'
We lived here for almost 4 years and absolutely loved it. It's a great location right in the heart of Logan Circle, but not too noisy. The apartments are uniquely laid out, resulting in spacious units that feel much bigger than the square footage and many have balconies that give residents a little outdoor space as well as great lighting. Newport West residents also get access to the rooftop pool of a building a block away. I can't stress enough how much we enjoyed spending summer days up there. Management was easy to work with and Gary, the building's maintenance man, was not only there to fix any issue but he was a joy to speak with or see around the building. I'd highly recommend the Newport West to anyone who wants to live right in downtown DC, steps away from Whole Foods, Logan Circle, amazing restaurants and bars, and so much more.
I have lived in the building for several years now and enjoy the convenience to Whole Foods, CVS, P street, and all of the great restaurants and bars along 14th street. My apartment is spacious and I really enjoy mornings and evenings on the balcony. I have great neighbors and the staff is always pleasant and responsive.
Great location in the heart of Logan Circle. Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, metro stops. Building is not modern, but has very spacious floor plans.
