Property Ratings at Norman Apartments
Please stay away from this place has bad cockroach problem
I applied and was denied because of what my past credit history looked like even though they were written off. This apartment complex looks at your credit history over your rental history which if they would've looked I always paid on time at my past apartment complex. I am also a VET. Don't waste your money on the application fee if you know you have bad credit history. Just FYI. I tried talking to the manager as well and she said there was nothing she could do.
It is a well kept community. 3-5 days after bill is due, you receive an intimidating notice of eviction, and they will move to evict you after 14 days late. Be on time. Also, they like to sneak in extra fees for things you do not owe and rely on you calling to correct the issue. Be on top of things at this apartment. Other than the finances, it is a nice community, but the speedbumps will reduce your cars life-span. No joke, the speedbumps are like rounded curbs, and there are a lot of them.
I’ve lived at Summer Pointe since last Summer. The first few months I lived here, the apartment smelled. Management told me they couldn’t fix the issue or let me out of my lease. Then, they have renovated the two apartments on either side of me with no advance notice of noise. Both times have lasted well over a month. The constant construction noise is a lot to handle as someone who works an odd schedule from home, especially when the crew is inconsiderate and shouts outside of my door and works with the door open 6 ft from my front door. I understand that the construction has to happen - but the lack of communication in advance and the extreme noise lasting over a month is not a great quality of life in exchange for my monthly rent payments. My apartment has been unbearable 3-4 months of my lease. When I have complained, the staff tells me someone will call me back. No one does. One staff member suggested that I pay to move to another unit if I don’t like the noise. The new manager will not return phone calls and emails go unanswered. Do not move here!
I moved to this complex as a student at OU. It is just 25 mins off the OU campus. I walked to school and came back to apartment almost everyday. I used my car rarely. The complex staff are so nice and professional. Their service during emergency or other technical issues were super fast. Every time I had a work order, it was accomplished the same day or maximum the next day. I strongly recommend this complex especially to students. The rates are so reasonable.
Here there are many cases we lost packages/delivery packets which are left outside the door. We cannot track anything. It's not about packages. There will be no one to monitor/guard these apartments. They take a lot of money but don't maintain it properly. I wish there should be at least CCTV. I lost my international shipment which is important as obvious. which is also very big. Now I cannot do anything. Next time for sure I will go to a place where there is at least CCTV. I suggest everyone do that.
Ive lived here for almost a year and i haven't had any issue with bugs. The apartments are kind of old but still feels a lot better than other places. it is very silent, perfect for calmed people and everything works.
Cockroach infested and they don't even have a routine pest control schedule. They only show up if you complain about the roaches. They also manage the Springfield apartments and it's the same story.
I would not recommend Summer Pointe to anyone. The apartments are dirty, the appliances are old and do not work. The electricity bill is sky rocket high because the air and heater don't work, and when you ask maintenance, they don't even fix it. The bathrooms are disgusting, The material in the sink is awful, if you spill one thing on it, such as a colored drink or if you dropped your eyeliner, you will never be able to wash it off. The floors are uneven. The mini blinds are as old as the complex and if one breaks, they will put a notice on your door the next day charging you $35. They don't replace lightbulbs when they go out and charge you $5 per light bulb. The burners on the stove are warn out. The doors barley lock, our door knob literally broke off. You can hear everything your neighbor does. The stairs are steep. The management sucks. They don't give you any sort of grace period on rent, and if you want to pay it online they charge you a service fee. The paint chips off the walls, and you can see where they have just painted over it a million times. Overall terrible experience. There are so many other choices in the Norman area. I would give it no stars but had to pick one.
Last year for me....too many things bad about this place and I wish I was able to move out at this time. Summer time...$165 electric bill, a/c runs all the time. I mean ALL THE TIME and the apartment doesn't drop below 75 degrees. Older units built in the seventies or so are antiquated. occasional bugs, they enter the apartment twice a month to, as they say, spray, replace air filter, check smoke alarm etc...So, your privacy is poor at best. Overused pool is frequently crowded due to the fact that they allow people from other complexes in the area to swim here. I cannot recommend. 1/2 star from me at best.
