Property Ratings at North Post Oak Lofts
Every negative review you read about this place is true. Management sucks. Parking sucks. The tow trucks trying to meet their nightly quota sucks. The security guard is lazy and argues LOUDLY with guests. Their attitude in the office is poor. Good luck calling in an issue because no one picks up the phone. I’ve seen medical billing and coding people with more urgency than these real estate license rejects. The elevators haven’t had an inspection since before 2020. And the cherry on top? They allow guests to put their dogs into the pool that everyone uses.
My wife and I have lived at North Poist Oak Lofts for years and we love our apartment and the beautiful gardens and pool area. Like the rest of Houston, we suffered a little during the pandemic and the deep freeze that struck last year. I am proud to say that the community is looking great and has great management again! These apartments are spacious and well designed. The pool area with gym and hot tub are magnificent! Hopefully, we will start to have community functions again in the near future, depending on the safety of doing so. There is now a great restaurant across the street which is super convenient for a bite and a drink. There is quick access to The Galleria, Downtown, Memorial Park and Memorial City/Town and Country. I have no problem parking and the two elevators can always get us to our 4th floor apartment if we are too lazy to use the stairs. Like I said, the management is easy to work with and I enjoy a coffee in the office sometimes when I pick up my mail. Five Stars for sure!
Parking is difficult, as other reviewers have written. No security guard at the front of the complex, so it's easy to sneak in. Had lived here less than a month when my bike was stolen after being locked on the bike rack. Management shrugged and said I should have bought a better lock, despite none of the other bikes on the rack being touched or having a fancy lock. They didn't offer to show security cam footage, and I never received any response when I sent the police report to the property manager. One neighbor consistently left bagged dog poop outside their door that the (valet) trash service never picked up. Maintenance ignores most requests. Although the trash is valet, you have to bring your recyclables to a bin in the parking lot, which not a lot of people know. The apartment itself was clean and well-lit, the amenities are nice, but safety and concern for residents is a big joke.
We moved into the complex on January 2020. Getting all the paperwork done was a hassle, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were just making the transition into new management. Everything was fine until the past few of months. Work orders that we submitted over two months ago have not been addressed (even after constantly reaching out to the front office and corporate). Parking is a nightmare, several cars without a permit park in parking spots as well as the tow away areas, leaving no room for actual residents and making it difficult to maneuver around the property. Management sent an email to all residents stating that they would do something about it, but nothing has changed three weeks later. The agent who helped us find the complex recently informed me that he has not received his commission from the North Post Oak Lofts (over 6 months later). I have spoken to residents that have lived here for years and they expressed equal disappointment in the way things are being handled. We all understand Covid has affected the way we all handle our businesses, but this is negligence.
This apartment complex was a dream to live in for the last four years. It never flooded which was one of my main concerns, is gated, easy access to your apartment rather than walking a while inside a building to finally get to your door, and had large square footage that was a great deal for the price. Office staff are always so kind and welcoming and even remember your name and apartment number. The pool area is gorgeous and the pool lights up at night. The jacuzzi is huge and very romantic with a wrought-iron dome above it. Gym is nice and kept very clean, but it could use some updated machines like a bench press or squat machine. Monthly brunches are delicious and as an apartment community, it is very quiet and homey-feeling. The only con is sometimes there's not enough space to park especially if you try to park late at night. There is some extra visitor parking on the side of the complex, but it is a far walk for residents if we have to park there. I rarely had any issues though, maybe about 3-4 times a year if I got home late. The very best aspect of this apartment complex is that it has the BEST location in Houston. It is right next to an intersection of i-10 E/W and 610 N/S. Going anywhere in Houston frequently took about 15-20 minutes MAX because you could easily and quickly hop on the highway without having to drive locally to get there. There is also plenty of restaurants and entertainment nearby since it's right next to the Marq-E. Also, it's only 10 minutes from the Galleria area and 5 minutes from Memorial Park. Overall, I am sad that I had to move because I love this apartment complex so much. Highly recommend!
Beware....Lease here only if you're DESPERATE and want to save a couple hundred in rent. Horrible place as residents park in your assigned space and management won't tow. There is NO extra parking. If you have two cars to an apartment good luck finding a spot... you may have to park down the street and walk a mile. If you have a guest come, they can't park at the apartments they have to park down the street. Your only allowed 1 guest in the pool area, they do patrol to make sure your in compliance. Olivia - assistant manager, is in charge of move out. She won't walk the apartment with you before you move out so you have an opportunity to fix anything she finds unsatisfactory. She'll tell you just take pictures. They took $300 out of my security deposit for normal wear and tear, minor markings on the paint . We lived there for 18 months...that would fall under "normal wear and tear". I am happy to say I am suing this place in small claims court and waiting for the outcome. If you go month to month you get gauged. Our rent went up approx. $500 a month. Also, in July 2017, the entire complex was in lock down by the FBI who followed the bank robbers who robbed the bank in cinco ranch. The BANK ROBBERS actually lived here and was chased down by the FBI who stood armed at their apt. door while they were waiting for the court to issue a search warrant before they could bust down the door. I watched the whole thing go down from my apartment as they lived across from me. Positives- Anna who is a leasing agent is very nice and kind.
Southhampton Management should be extremely disappointed in the current manager at this location. I have been a resident for several years and have never had an issue. Amber is the current manager and is extremely rude and inconsiderate of the residents. One would think that since she is the "face" of the community she should treat people with respect, but instead is often rude to residents and acts like a child. I understand if you have issues going on in your person life, but check that at the door. Customer service is a major part of my job and if I treated people like she does, I would be fired in a quick second. I cannot wait to move out of this place....and to think, I was actually planning on renewing my lease for another year.
North Post Oak Lofts is one of the Houston area's best kept secrets. Its ideal location, just outside of the 610 loop, is close enough to all of the major metro areas but far enough away to provide a great escape. Unlike other similarly priced apartments, not only do they offer lots of room and quiet surroundings but there are some pretty nice perks. Where else can you enjoy free yoga poolside, monthly brunches and food trucks just feet away from the place you call home. .
This apartment has great finishes including granite countertops and modern appliances. Resort quality amenities include a fabulous pool with outdoor grilling plus a movie theater and a state of the art gym.
Seriously don't even bother, this place is terrible
We were super excited to move into this complex because of all the wonderful amentities they offer and the close location to the galleria area. The gym was great, however they limit you to one guest at the pool at a time which seems a bit ridiculous. The theatre room was rented out everytime we attempted to use it, and the staff in the office were rude and not very helpful. Our pipes under the kitchen sink were continually a problem and flooded the cabinets on more than one occasion. Parking was always a hastle and they recomended we park outside the gates on the street- no thanks. We left the apartment in good condition, re-painted the walls and everything, and were still charged a huge fee upon move out. They also tried to charge us for extra days in the apartment when we absolutely werent there and had already moved out. Nice looking apartments, but just be ready for everything else that comes with it.
Stay Away. Look at all reviews they are 100% accuate. I never planed on adding my own review until after I moved out. I was at North Post Oak Lofts for over 3 years and paid over $60,000 in rent. I didn't receive a thank you letter for perfect payments or for turning in keys two weeks early so they could prepare for the next tenant. I received a $730 dollar bill for cleaning and damages. I received it on the 15th of the month, it was dated 9 days prior saying if not turned in within 30 days there sending to collections. I am married with no kids. The apartment was well kept and left in better than average condition. I have no understanding how a company would would make the decision to charge anyone $730.00 after being a tenant for 3 years. STAY AWAY.
This place is absolutely terrible, and the management is even worse
