Located about eight miles north of Downtown Seattle, the area of Lake City was once a railroad stop. It was named in 1906 and quickly developed into a suburb of Seattle. During Prohibition, the area was unincorporated. So when Seattle joined Prohibition, Lake City supplied the roadhouses and speakeasies barred from the nearby city. Lake City became a Seattle neighborhood in the mid-1950s. With Lake Washington as the neighborhood’s sparkling gem, residents are rediscovering this northern neighborhood.
Lake City stretches from the lake to roughly 15th Avenue in North Seattle. While the speakeasies are long gone, there are several popular destinations along Lake City Way, including HellBent Brewing Company Elliott Bay Public House & Brewery, Brother Barrel, and 2C Thai. If you are moving to Lake City with a pet, you’ll appreciate Dogwood Play Park, an indoor dog park and bar complete with a treat bar and birthday cakes for pet parties.

Property Ratings at Northbrook Place Apartments
I’ve lived here for 4+ years. It was somewhat of a mess for the first 2, but the last two have been atrocious. I’m confused with the 4 star review of this place. The hallway has been completely covered in dog and cat urine for OVER a year now. Management recently switched over and the only difference I’ve seen is the amount of eviction notices on doors. No clean up. I can’t emphasize enough how terrible and smelly it is here!
My husband and I have lived at Northbrook Place for over 7 years. Stan is absolutely fantastic to work with; we rarely have any issues, but the few times we have, we've always recieved a very timely response. I love how it's generally very quiet dispite being right off of Lake City. We have laundry in unit & a cute little patio. We're close to buses, grocery stores and little park near by. It's been a pleasure calling Northbrook our home for this long!

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to leave us this glowing recommendation. We are thrilled you chose Northbrook Place and have been provided 5-star service from our stellar team! Let us know if there's anything we can do for you going forward. Have a great day!
My husband and i both are new to the area due to us both working in Seattle we had to move quickly and STAN made it a easy transition for us and answered all are questions and concerns. Provided new places to eat and parks in the area to walk, he made sure we were well taken care of. The maintenance staff is always available during business hours unless it is an emergency. We Have bin hear since FEB and we love it more and more every day. We are excited for the summer on the newly landscaped balcony/patio they just re done. So far this is the best Apartment We have ever lived in and Highly recommend it to anyone. Jaron & Elizebeth
My girlfriend and I lived here for a year. Then you first look around your apartment it seems kind of nice but as the year went on it became more apparent that the place needs a complete remodeling. All the windows in my apartment had broken seals and were constantly wet 8 months out of the year. Mold was a constant problem around the windows and in the bathroom. The walls in the right light were covered in slightly different shades of beige so we where charged at move out for painting. They put in new carpet before we moved in but it was so ruff I could lay on it. At move out it was determined to have been unsatisfactory after one year of weekly vacuuming, never wearing shoes on it and an arsenal of rug cleaners at my disposal. When we were moving out I had $1500 worth of magic cards stolen from beside my car and when I tried putting up fliers asking for them back management continued to remove them. When we moved in the utilities were $60 a month after 3 months they quickly jumped to $150 or more a month and that's just water, sewer and trash.

I am really sorry that you had a bad experience. We welcome your comments. It helps us know where we can grow as a team and a community. We are working and will continue to work at making Northbrook Place a comfortable place to call home. I hope you have found a comfortable home, and encourage you to check us out in the future. I know you would have a better experience.
This building has great access to North Seattle, I-5, the University District! The building is clean and the communication between tenant and landlord is excellent.

I wanted to take the time to say thank you for your kind words.
Title says it all. My boyfriend and I have lived here for exactly a year now, and the management is the absolute worst. I have no idea how they continue to stay in business. I had been bitten by a dog in the hallway, they did nothing. They're never in the office, yet they never send out emails to let anyone know that they're taking a(nother) sick day or leaving early from the office so that we can make other arrangements to speak with them or pick up packages/mail. I've had extremely important mail and packages stuck inside their office for 4 days while they've been closed, but did not notify any of their tenants. We leave voicemails, send e-mails and they never respond. I have a service animal in their pet friendly complex but they have been charging me "pet rent" and took $400 deposit, which is illegal to take for a service animal. The handy man is very hot and cold, he yells at you when you require maintenance and tells you that it's all your fault that the apartment is falling apart. My brand new, $600 bike and two locks, as well as my boyfriend's back bike tire were stolen from INSIDE the garage, and guess what, they did absolutely nothing. I moved here for the price (which will be going up by $100/month) but have not had one positive experience in this place. Needless to say, I will be moving out when my lease is up in a couple of weeks.

I am sorry to hear that your experience here hasn't been the most pleasurable. I wasn't aware of the dog bite or the bike being stolen. I am always here in the office unless I am at lunch or on the property doing inspections. I haven't received any emails regarding needing to get in to get any packages either. There was a posting on Active building informing everyone that if they were in need of any packages they could contact maintenance. We have to have documentation that you have a service animal at the time you get the animal, if you have that please bring it into the office so I can research what happened. I would hate for you to move out feeling like we didn't care or did nothing about the situation. Please contact the office so we can discuss your concern. Thank you.
The Northbrook is a well kept apartment complex. It is in a nice location that is not too far away from employment centers, such as Northgate and downtown Seattle. It is easy to hop on the freeway going north or south. The apartment was well maintained and the office personnel treated you like professionals. Yo won't be disappointed.
