Property Ratings at The Axel
Since we moved in, they gave us the apartment incomplete with damages. They don't come to repair it. The maintenance people give us long and long waits but don't do anything. We've had problems with the dishwasher for 4 months. The waste disposer in the dishwasher doesn't work and gives off a bad smell. The maintenance people don't do anything. We've also been without air conditioning for a month. They just come to look and leave. They say they don't have the spare parts and so on and they never come. We're tired of this situation. We want to move but because of the contract we can't. It's the worst decision I made when coming to live here.

The manager and whole office staff sucks they are rude and nasty. The apartments should just be called a roach motel. The maintenance office is a joke stay away from this place if you can.

This apartment was horrible. I had roaches, I had bedbugs. Worst neighbors possible loud parties being thrown. Drunk dudes on my front porch. Management is a joke. You name apartment horror stories they got them.

There are murders, break ins, car theft, and roaches. Nobody cleans after their dog. I moved here sight unseen from California and it’s the worst decision. I pay rent online so don’t have much interaction with leasing agents. There is so much crime. There’s a huge homeless population right outside of that gates that don’t work. They walk thru the apts all night doing drugs. Crime scene tape everywhere. It’s frustrating. Just don’t move anywhere near the steets Rundberg, Northgate, Colony Creek. The apts look nothing like the pics.

We apologize that you do not feel like you live in a safe neighborhood. We strongly recommend to contact the police with any illegal activity so they can respond to these concerns.
The management is just HORRIBLE. They don’t do much. Trust me, I’ve experienced it first hand. It’s been more than 4 months since I’ve moved out and still haven’t recieved my deposit back. The assistant manager and even the manager himself, Brian, haven’t been able to help me out at all. And let me tell you, if the management is subpar, the apartment complex will be as well. And it is. It’s hard to find parking, the gates don’t work, it’s noisy, and reeks of weed. I even caught one the management people vaping in the leasing office. Anyways, if you do decide to live here, best of luck! You’ll need it.

We're very sorry to hear about your experience at Northgate Hills. The happiness of our residents is our number one priority and we hope we have the opportunity to prove this to you in the future.
This complex is large- which means the rent is on an even keel in comparison. Also it's right off of the north hub of the three freeway system arteries in Austin. AND covered parking for all! No extra. Maintenance is hella-prompt too.
I lived here for 3 years and they have gone through several managers. Seems like every few months someone else is in charge and new people in the office. Most frustrating part is they will promise you lots of things to your face just to get you to leave and then when you follow up they say that conversation never happened. They refuse to respond to emails or texts because they know they will have to keep their word.
Had an issue with our door not locking. it took the 9 (yes, NINE) days to repair, and I have the paperwork to prove it. Completely lied to me about the repair. Was told maintenance were at Home Depot getting the parts on 2 separate days. Tried to tell me I must have attempted to break into my own apartment. Wanted a police report to get repair done (completely unnecessary). Finally, all they did was to drill the lock hole a little bigger. Let's not mention the roaches, the changes in management company (and you can tell it went to the lowest bidder due to the complete apathy), and the lies about availability to do a walk through If you are considering this, there are much better options. Why do you think they are cheap?
I have read the reviews on this site and let me just say that I like my home regardless. I have been here since 2014 and will be renewing my lease whenever its up. I enjoy the area where I live its usually pretty quiet and i get a long with my neighbors. Of course there will always be someone or something that makes noise in our area; but I report it to the office and they immediately solve the problem. The office staff has not changed WHICH is awesome they are always friendly and attentive. The maintenance is great they have fixed everything I have reported to the office. There was one time that they did not have the part to fix my problem that same day; but they were honest and communicated with me they let me know it would be 1-2 days it just depended on how fast the part would come in. So it was no big deal. Sure enough after the second day I came home and my problem had been fixed. I didnt even have to call back to check up . I like the convinience of everything around here the domain is less than a mile away Parking; I never have problems I always find a spot neas. I have washer and dryer in my home so I dont have to worry about the laundry rooms The pools I do love they are alwys clean and if one is to crowded i go to the second one. The managers are really nice and have always been very friendly with us. I guess what im getting at is that I recommend this place for your home please look around for your self dont listen to the negative comments posted on this site or any other Because there is always two sides to a story
Been living here for a few months already and I'd just like to say that first of all, THE STAFF IS HORRIBLE. Try calling the leasing office and they take forever to pick up. Go into the leasing office, and the staff is usually chatting and taking their sweet time answering people's questions. They're so LAZY. Not to mention, some of them are downright RUDE. Parking also SUCKS - you'll see cars parked outside the complex against the sidewalk because it's hard finding a parking spot, even with a permit. Then the neighborhood is AWFUL as well. Very LOUD, and there seems to be some SKETCHY people walking around. Oh right. There's a fence to keep them out and a gate. WRONG. First of all, the gate doesn't WORK so ANYONE can come and go. Also, the fence usually has boards missing. Once saw some creepy guy on the other side of the fence watching me. Let's just say, you won't feel welcomed here and safe. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else. I know once my contract ends, I'm gone.
The day I was moving in they told me that the apartment wasn’t ready n they force me to sign a new lease for more money, which they had done to different people according to google reviews . They never show you the place before u moved in so I got there and the rug was extremely dirty, the food dispenser is broken and give out a rotten smell and even the front door knob is falling apart. I try many different time and in many different ways to get them to fix since February 2017 that I moved in to no luck they just refuse to do it. They told me that the water was going to be a fix amount but my bill has being going up and up every month, finally it’s October and my rent is extremely high so I can’t take it any more and went to the office to ask about it and the person in the office told me to get out of the office n that she would call the police on me because I was disturbing the peace, all I was doing was talking to my aunt about what was happening. I told the lady that I would not talk if it was bothering her but I had the right to be there she told me to leave again and call the police, mind you she never ask me to be quite before kicking me out of the office and calling the police. I waited for the police and all they did was provide me with code enforcement phone number and the phone number of a department like the better business bureau but especially for tenants that have problems with buildings that refuse to do their part to fix things. Which I could give them way less than 1 star.
I have been here for about 2 months and so far the staff and maintenance have been great! The pool is open and I have yet to see any vermin or roaches. Not sure if they are own by someone new or not from the past reviews. Some outlets in my kitchen stopped working after a month and the Maintenance people came in a timely manner to fix it - I did tell them it was NOT an emergency and they still got the job done. The dog park is perfect my Dog - This place really is awesome for how low rent is. The only bad thing I really have to say is I was told my apt would be all hard wood floors. The Kitchen / Entryway / Bathroom are hard wood but everything else is carpet. Which I can learn to live with. So far a good experience.
Good location, near restaurants, bus stops. Management has always displayed a friendly, positive attitude and concern towards us. Any and all repair requests (however, few) have been met in a fairly reasonable timeframe. We have no big complaints! After residing here for over two years, we continue calling these apartments "home"!! So can you!!

Where do I start?! This complex is poorly run...it wouldn't be as bad if they replaced the office staff. Remi, Cindy, and Litzy are all horrible. They don't care about anything and will literally keep you waiting forever with anything. I've been sent away because they were using office for personal parties, yelled at because I tried to pay my rent while Cindy was sorting her family pictures and I "interrupted her". They do nothing to enforce lease violations, noise, 4 people living in 1 bedroom apartments, etc. Parking: spaces are too small for anything but compact cars. Again, management does not enforce parking (people who aren't on lease park in covered parking) and often there is nowhere to park. Bugs and critters: they charge you for "pest control" but it really doesn't do much when there are 4-5 people living in a one bedroom apartment. Garbage: there are always garbage overflowing or furniture piled up by dumpsters. If I could give this place negative stars I would. This is the worst place I have ever living!
The pools and gym are always closed, but you are still paying for them. The parking is terrible. The apartments are over infested with roaches and pest controls doesn't come by every month( you're lucky if you see him once a year) and you are expected to pay between $55-$95 every month just for water even though there are no washers or dryers in the apartments. We had a rat in our apartment for over 3 months because management wouldn't do anything despite my daily submissions of service requests. They will also nickel and dime you for every little thing when you move out. Do Not Move Here!!! Residents have had their apartments broken into, and management did absolutely nothing about it. Save yourself and Live Anywhere Else!!!
I would give 0 stars if it was an option and I didn't even live there myself. This is just what I experienced as my kids and their dad lived there. I can only imagine the horror of living there Maintenance men are super nice but leasing personnel is the absolute worst. My kids always complained about the smell of cigarette smoke from a downstairs neighbor. They charged $25 a month for parking permits for each car on the lease so my kids dad had to pay an extra $25 a month for my car when I only stayed for a weekend every few months while he worked out of town. The visitor partying was always occupied by residents who didn't pay for The parking permit. The leasing ladies reported cars that had expired stickers which seemed kind of intrusive in my opinion. The apt wasn't "ready" until 2 weeks after move in date and was later found out it was bc one of the leasing ladies went on vacation and didn't make sure the appropriate info was given for move in. And I say "ready" bc when the day finally came for move in the upgraded cabinets, upgraded light fixtures, and upgraded sinks were not upgraded. Carpet wasn't finished and the cleaning couldn't even be started until everything else was done. My kids had to live in an unfinished apartment for weeks. Did I mention how rude the leasing personnel was? And it's super frustrating when you can't dispute anything otherwise they'll start trying to find a way to fine got lease violations. Luckily my kids' dad caught on and was very careful.
I am a current resident and just moved in Jan 29th, I honestly love the staff, they were very helpful and kind, but for some reason it seems like it takes forever for things to get done. My heater was broken, they fixed it, but broke my AC, then they both broke completely a day or so after fixing my AC. Now let me tell you, it was 85 degrees inside my apartment (THIS IS TEXAS) and they said that it's not considered an emergency unless it's 85 degrees outside. Well guess what? The first day my AC wasn't working, it happened to be 85 degrees inside AND outside my apartment, even in January. Now that is preposterous to have to wake up a few days in a row in a burning hot sweat. Not only that but there were live and dead roaches when I moved in, they sent pest control and they have actually gotten worse. The apartments look nice in and out but the patience necessary to reside in them is very high. Lastly, the parking is atrocious. A woman was sexually assaulted on Northgate Blvd recently and I am a 23 year old woman. I would really rather not parking far away from my apartment and have to walk by myself at night. There are residenta that live all in one apartment with multiple cars that take all the spots. There really should be a rule stating that only one car per resident is allowed covered parking. Other than that it's not that bad in my opinion.
poor maintenance it takes forever for them to come fix something but when it comes to rent they so quick about it late fees are ridiculous they try to put any fee out there $75 for a trash bag on porch is just to much !!! now they enforcing parking permits so my car got towed !! so if you want to pay over 1000 a month and towing fees go ahead and be my guest ... ohh and burglary of course let's not forget they steal of your cars ! just waiting on my lease to be up in April and I'm out and wouldn't recommend no one to come live here !
I have lived in these apartments for over 8 years and it hasn't gotten better since I moved in this place. Maintenance like I have seen some reviews written on this already is HORRIBLE, you have to stay on them about anything being REPAIRED or BROKEN and I have had their maintenance guys just be so careless with your property and break things and never clean up behind themselves when they do come repair things, just leave there mess and walk out. Terrible!!! Now they trying to enforce parking permits but giving them out one per apartment or per who is on the lease, and have no more than 10 visitor parking. Half of the people working in the leasing office know what they are doing or how to answer your questions. Just very unorganized employees in the office and very unconcerned about what is going on , on the property or what all the GOOD residents deal with. Manager never does what he says he is going to do always too busy to talk to his residents. SAD how they treat you when you go into the office. I say they need to clean out the Leasing Office employees and bring in new staffing that know what they are doing and know how to show concerning about their residents. I am just waiting on my lease to be up so I can MOVE OUT and I would not refer my worstest enemy to come live in these apartments.
This is not the place to live if you are looking for a quiet, family friendly community. The only pros about living here would be the location and that it's pet friendly. After sending several maintenance requests via email, phone, and to office staff in person, we finally get maintenance to come by and begin making repairs. Then he says he doesn't have all the tools needed so he will come back the next day to complete repairs. Okay, fine, but 2 weeks later, he still hasn't returned. We are just waiting for our lease to end.. I would never recommend this place.
I moved here last August and I'm gonna have to move to a different unit cause my neighbors upstairs are unbearable !! they make a lot of noise and they have a toy ( laser lights ) that they use to upset neighbors! ! With of course the question! What is it ? Is it a camera or audio or both . I live as a prisoner in my apartment cause of them . I have no privacy! And then again nothing happens to them!!
Noisy, never get anything fixed (and you'll need to), care more about the outside to get people in and will raise your rent if you resign. Roaches all the time and will stick you in the back in an apt that looks nothing like they show you when you come look at them.
