Known as the City of Destiny, Tacoma sits on Commencement Bay in the southern portion of Puget Sound. Just minutes from Seattle, Tacoma is the birthplace of internationally-acclaimed glass artist Dale Chihuly. His work is spotted throughout the city, especially the Chihuly Bridge of Glass at the Museum of Glass, a 500-foot-long pedestrian overpass linking the Museum of Glass to Downtown Tacoma. You can create your own work of blown glass at the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio.
In addition to its creative culture, Tacoma offers residents and visitors access to world-renowned museums, unique venues, and outdoor recreation. Explore the rotating exhibits at LeMay-America’s Car Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and Washington State History Museum. Grab a drink at Bob’s Java Jive or Dorky’s Bar Arcade before you head to a performance at Rialto Theater or the Tacoma Dome. Peruse the shops at Tacoma Mall and B & I Shopping Center. Take a hike, visit the zoo, and rent kayaks in Point Defiance Park.

Property Ratings at Northpoint Apartments
I was very impressed with the property management. I had no complaints living here, from the management to the actual amenities of the property. Would definitely recommend!

We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with our team and to hear that you enjoy the community amenities. Thank you for being a valued resident in our community!
We dealt with ants from the very beginning, mostly in our baby's room, they would be all over on her windowsill and I would even find them on her skin. They would send a pest control guy and it would get better for a day or two and then get worse again. The coating on our bathtub was all patchy when we moved in and it took three times for them to recoat it to where it wouldn't immediately start peeling again. There's pet waste everywhere, you can't take your own dog out without them stepping in it, nowhere to play with your kids that isn't covered in it. We found black mold on an interior wall in our baby's room that turned out to be from from a leak from an upstairs tenant, so we knew the mold was coming from inside the walls. It took months for them to respond and when they did all we got was a dehumidifier to run 24/7 and a small coat of anti mold primer in the closet where we found it. The trash compactor is always overflowing, there's no recycling available. Move-out experience was terrible.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we apologize that you had a negative experience at our community and understand your frustration. We did have pest control into your unit several times and could never find where the source was coming from. We also promptly addressed all of your work orders and the mold issue you explained ended up being surface mildew which we also addressed. Unfortunately, as much as we remind residents to pick up their pet waste, it is an ongoing problem we are working hard to address. If you have any other concerns, please reach out to us, again we apologize for the experience you had and will discuss your feedback with our team. Have a great day!
The absolute worst apartment complex we have ever lived at. We were there for about a year and we are so happy we left. Here’s everything that was wrong during our stay: 1. When we were about to rent, we were sent floor plans for a specific unit, which was not the one we were given keys to. Similar area, different layout. When we pointed this out, staff played down this saying drawings are not always accurate (what a great property manager excuse, right?). 2. Trash management is a horrible nuisance. We endlessly emailed to management about people leaving their trash in the wrong place (and there’s a ton of critters that love spreading them) and the trash bins are always full, they don’t keep up with the trash generated by the complex. 3. The utilities are an obscure subject. They charge for water, sewage, and trash. These charges were the highest we’ve ever seen. When we asked for transparency on why we got charged that much, they said they can’t provide details. We honestly feel we were chipping in for more than our fair use, given that the occupancy rate of the whole thing is low. 4. Yes, they are renewed, but don’t get fooled. Other that new stainless steel appliances, the whole thing is super old. Floors creek horribly and everything is paper thin. The whole year living there my allergies where constantly bad, so god knows how they renovated. 5. Neighbors. Almost for 8 months of our year long stay we dealt with the most horrible people living right above our unit. We gave endless complains to management about the noises made by the tenants above us on a constant basis and they were extremely slow to act upon this. This took a huge toll on our life quality. Also on the neighbors subject, there’s people that love to feed the squirrels. But not like leaving a handful of nuts or something. People would throw half of a cake (not kidding!) and spread it over the gardens. WTF people!!! We would never rent here again. Nothing is worth it at this place.
This by far will be a lesson for me to never trust a paint job and claims of a full remodel again. From the abundance of pet owners leaving there dog bowel movements throughout the property. To the plumbing that is old and hot water is not plentiful. You either have to drive with trash in your vehicle or walk about two blocks to take out your disposal section. Don't get to comfortable thinking you're at home, if you have more than three plants or anything they consider none patio furniture; such as an armoire, you will get an eviction notice. I have never received an eviction notice for having taste in furniture. Though let me not forget to mention how quickly they have the exterminator come out to get the creepy crawly's in your home; only three times needed in my first six months. I haven't met one resident that loves this place as of yet. I would rate this less than a one-star, but they chose a good paint job outside=The Great Scam!

Definitely a negative experience at this complex. Smh. Let's just say I got a 30 day notice because they were "renovating". 30 days.. in January.. in this market. Cool! Appreciate it. Not only that.. after the walk through they said I'd get a $200 deposit check back but noooo.. they sent me a letter double charging my last month of water/garbage. $205! For a month? Hmm.. called and the girl said, "No, you don't have a balance." I said to make sure, since on the letter it said I needed to pay or go to collections, have your manager send me an email. Took a few days for a response.. they finally cleared it up and still took my deposit and $79.00. So, what was I charged for.. for a month? I've gotten to sick of dealing with these people.. I paid $79 and kept it moving. New management is horrible.. jokes! I'll never move back to this place and I have told anyone asking. No!

Dear Concerned Resident, thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. We understand it is a tough situation when new management takes over. If you would like to further discuss any move out charges please contact us Monday - Saturday 9-6 at 253-759-1919.
Renovations are very mediocre. To the average person, they look nice. But up close and with renovation background, the apartments are sub par. The kitchen and bathroom cabinetry is poor quality. The drawers are slanted and do not close flush with adjacent cabinetry. The bathroom vanity was jimmy-rigged to fit between the toilet and doorway by jig-sawing and caulking the molding for it to fit. Therefore the left cabinet door only opens a quarter of the way, rendering it useless. Supposed to have new washer and dryer, but only washer was new they left the old one. The dryer continually overheats and breaks down, which practically renders it useless. The deck flooring and paneling is rotting and peeling. So much for a "renovated apartment".

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that you are anything less than satisfied. We would like to correct all issues including the dryer & deck situation. I would like to invite you to discuss all issues any time between Monday - Friday 9am-6pm.
For one, I'm not even a resident here but I am looking to be one and in doing so I got the pleasure to speak to Nessa who has been such a good help. She's willing to work with you, help you and compromise in many ways. It's truly appreciated.
Property Manager at Northpoint Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thanks for your feedback regarding Nessa. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
I absolutely LOVE my apt. I'm 26 and they are the nicest apt I have ever lived in. The matience guys are so fast to get things done. It stays so nice and clean looking outside. Indoor outdoor pool. I feel so safe ' such a nice area. I only gave it a 4 star because once I signed another year lease my rent got raised to a extra $70. I was real disappointed. I will have to find another place if it keeps going up.
The location of this complex in north Tacoma is great. Very close to Point Defiance park, downtown, and waterfront, and walking distance to Safeway. The apartment itself is a good size for its price. Both bedrooms have good sized walk in closets and there are full size washer/dryer in unit. There is a pool and a lot of outdoor space, though it isn't maintained super well. Overall, the large apartment size and great location make it worth living here.
Well, let's see. Lived in my apartment for over 7 years and have been pretty comfortable. My only complaints would be the fact that I had to pay for my own blinds to be replaced. The apartments said nothing can be replaced unless I pay. Wow, I don't even own the place. I thought wear and tear would be considered but nope. I need New carpet, stove, fridge. But u have to pay for it. Well if I do pay, I will take it all with me, including the carpet.
We pay $882.00 dollars a month.. It's getting real hard to get by. Nice neighbors. Washer and dryer included.. Indoor outdoor pool, hot tub, tanning bed, and a small workout area.. I really like living here.. It's just getting hard to afford.. What will I do if this happens? Been here for 7 years.. It's also pet friendly which I think is great.. Thank you.. Have a beautiful day..
North point is a great place to live. My boyfriend and I just moved to Tacoma from Houston, TX and they have been nothing but sweet to us. There are 2 pools, a weight room, pool tables, so much to do. They just repaved the parking lot and it looks great. I will say however that they need badly to pressure wash the buildings.
