The city of Midland forms the western cornerstone of central Michigan’s Tri-Cities region, a rough triangle that connects the community to Bay City and Saginaw. Consistently appearing highly on lists of best American cities for families, Midland adopts a mostly suburban atmosphere filled with quiet neighborhoods and boasting exceptional public schools.
The community is rich with public parks and golf courses, providing numerous opportunities to get outdoors. The charming Downtown district along Main Street features a popular collective of specialty shops, eclectic restaurants and bars, historic architecture, and a farmers’ market overlooking the Tittabawassee River. Drop into Café Zinc for your morning caffeine fix or swing by WhichCraft Taproom for a bite and a pint in the evening. One of the city’s most unique landmarks is the Tridge, a three-directional bridge that spans the river to connect Downtown to Towsley Dike Park and Chippewassee Park.

Property Ratings at Northwind Forest
I want to stress how far this complex has come over the past two years. They have updated so many units and are continually working on updating the complex as well. The office staff is so helpful and kind. They have a community garden here also. I enjoy how fast they work on fixing things in the units with their amazing maintenance staff. Most of the previous reviews are from when they had previous ownership and office staff. The new owners and staff honestly care. I hope this review helps shed light on the great changes made at Northwind Forest.
Worst apartment management I've ever seen. They do not enforce the "no smoking" policy. The apartments and hallways are permeated with smoke. If you have any type of lung issue stay away from here. The management refuses to enforce the no smoking ordinance. Also the appliances are ancient compared to the pictures I'm seeing on this site. Do yourself a favor and eliminate this complex from your choices
If I could give this place zero stars I would. From the start it’s been nothing but issues and nothing gets done about it. Don’t fall for the pool, talked to someone who’s lived here for 3 years. They don’t ever open the pool. It’s what we call a lawn ornament to draw in new people. The dog park in winter was never taken care of. We had to call the office multiple times for them to pull the trash out. Our apartment we were told was going to look like the one we were shown. They said all apartments were updated. Our walls look like hell, there’s water damage in all the rooms. We’re on the bottom floor and had no screens in our windows. We requested screens to get put in and was told they had a list for things to get done and that they’d get to us ASAP. 6 months later we’re still waiting and was told after asking again that they were working on it. Be prepared for the cops to be here every weekend. Be prepared for the people in the front office to never be there when you need them. They say that they come in on Saturdays but they’re never there. Any complaint about noise or problems with neighbors will result in the front office people telling you to just call the cops. People will mess with your vehicles. I do not recommend this apartment and hope you find somewhere else to live.
Lived here for 3 years. 2 years birthdays fell on the weekend so we had to wait til monday to get new tags for the cars-both times a notice was put on the car saturday and monday a tow truck sent to tow our vehicles :/. Even though our vehicles were taken care of by Monday morning. Sent out notices while we were on vacation about repainting the lines in parking lot and given a weeks notice to move vehicles-we had been gone 2 weeks so we never got notice or a call before we were home from our honeymoon to find our vehicle had been towed! Had to pay $150 to get it out. Literally on poop patrol so if you forgot a poop bag and have to run back in the house to get one to pick up poop, $50 fine! Even a fine because your dog goes before you get to the dog park area. Super loud college students and weedsmokers. On top of regular smokers next to the doors so it just comes back into the hall.
I lived here for three years. My apartment was very nice for the price bracket and I enjoyed it a lot. The trails in the woods are very nice also. Having said that, the staff is absolutely worthless. In the end I didn’t even bother to call maintenance, I fixed everything myself. The other tenants are quite loud and the complex seems to have a drug problem. I hope you enjoy the smell of weed seeping into your house every night. The furnaces/AC are from the 1980’s and horribly innefficient. My summer electric bill was nearly $300 every month. If the ownership would whip this staff into shape, invest some money into infrastructure upgrades, and clean house with their tenants, I could recommend this place. As it is, and considering the price bracket in which they’ve positioned themselves, I cannot. You can do much better in Midland for this price.
I don't know where to begin with this in all honesty... When you go into the office most days there is always a staff members child there. Why? Who knows? But! It's allowed to go on so it does. Maintenance is normally quick to address issues when they come up unless there is something they need to order. It seems like there is a lack of communication at times between most the staff a lot of the time. I know they are making changes with the new managment and that all takes time I am aware... But myself and some others feel there is a lot of issues being swept under the rug per say... Like singling people out with the smoking ban. Its ok for some people if you are managments "pet". Over all the place is alright needs improvement but oh well.
Can't explain how much i hated living here. Shana at the front desk is incapable of handling her job. She loses paperwork then constantly tries to blame the renter. Rather pathetic honestly. The maintenance worker is also a horrible person who hates dogs. Oh, and don't come here if you have pets!! They use antifreeze on the sidewalks which caused severe burns to my dogs paws. And they refuse to change brands of sidewalk salt, even though they claim they are a pet friendly community? The appliances are outdated, and all the buildings have a weird smell. DO NOT RENT HERE
I recently had to transfer from out of state to this location(Midland, MI) for my job. The rental office staff was very accommodating and helpful. They were very courteous and prompt and they made my transition to a new apartment a pleasant one. My new apartment here is very clean and everything functions as it should. The appliances are new and the HVAC system works as expected. I have no issues or complaints. The maintenance staff is also very attentive. The facilities and grounds are kept in good order and the sidewalks are kept clean and the lawn care is top notch. Snow removal is also prompt and the sidewalks/parking were cleared before I leave for work in the morning. Everything at Northwind Forest Apartments functions as it should. The prompt and professional performance of the management staff and the attention to detail of the maintenance staff are compelling reasons that I recommend Northwind Forest Apartments.
