Notch 8 really does stand above the rest in terms of quality, community, and comfort. I’ve been a resident now for almost a year and I feel very fortunate to have found Notch 8. My apart is modern and efficient, the building is well maintained, and I’ve never once struggled to find a parking spot. Add in the glorious views and close proximity to the metro, and I couldn’t ask for a better residence.

Notch 8 is a place that is conveniently located to DC, Delray on the Avenue, Old Town and to shopping (Target, Best Buy, HomeGoods, PetSmart, TJMaxx, Total Wine and more all within walking distance). While the building is one of the first in the Potomac Yard area, it has aged somewhat but is well maintained and has the normal amenities as other apartment buildings. I think I good bang for the buck. Oh, and did I mention that it is across the street from Potomac Yard metro station? Also you can catch the Dash bus or Metroway right at the corner of the building to get around. How convenient is that?

Don't move here. This management group is ineffective. How could the living experience at Notch8 be improved? More responsive management. Not take 5 months to fix the secure garage door; not take 6 months to fix the security system; not take 5 months to fix the elevators situation with the freight elevator; have a better system to secure packages (often left out on table even when the building was not secure due to alarm being in-operable). Stop asking people to take their cardboard to the loading dock when you don't have an operable freight elevator! Replace the lights in the gym! Fix the beeping security system! I would love to be contacted by management but they would just provide another canned response about how they're doing the best they can. Management has absolutely no credibility in this community. They're ineffective.

Notch8 is located in a prime location. However, the building has decreased in quality since Greystar took over. The office staff is not friendly nor helpful. The activities for the residents have decreased. Cleaniness is average at best, Items do not get fixed in a timely manner (service elevator, key fobs, exercise equipment).

This place is trash. Greystar does not care about its residents. The corporation puts the cost of the building onto it residents, rent for each apartment continually increases month to month, can’t pay by personal check, can’t access the building or apartment without a fob. Fob access is broken throughout the building.

Notch 8 is a lovely apartment community with friendly and welcoming residents. It is pet-friendly and convenient to shopping, restaurants and public transportation (buses and Blue and Yellow line metro). A great value for apartment living that is surrounded by professional offices, a major healthcare provider and a soon to open technology innovation Campus of Virginia Tech University.

This property is beautiful to the eye. However, we strongly encourage you to look past all that to see what you are truly getting. 1. The fire alarms go off way more than it should. Sometimes 2-3 times a week and multiple times in the middle of the night. You evacuate the building, go back in a never hear anything from management about what is going on. 2. Our specific unit is less than 2 years old and yet the flooring planks are separating and cracks are forming in the corners and on the ceiling. We have filled in a maintenance request that was honored, but yet the problem still persist. 3. This is supposed to be a totally non-smoking building, which is a huge selling point. However, we wake up every morning to find new cigarette butts on our balcony and lining the bushes around the common areas. 4. Pets are allowed, however the pets are allowed to live on any floor and most people choose the elevator as a means to get to their pets outside. On several occasions, there have been pet accidents on the elevators that have taken longer than expected to get cleaned up. Some times, you have to ride in an elevator, that looks clean, but is still drenched in the aroma of pet waste. 5. This property uses a "package concierge" system which in theory sounds amazing. However, we have had 2 high priced packages lost through this system. We would get a notice, from the concierge, that they had been delivered, but when we went to pick them up, nothing was there. 6. The front office has great skills when it comes to dealing with people face to face however, if you ever call the office with an issue, be warned, they are not very good with that. I called the office and specifically spoke to Ashley. I was very upset because the office had made a huge mistake that left me in a lurch. Ashley did not help the situation by yelling at me on the phone, talking over me, and refusing to let me talk or ask a question. 8. Not sure if it is because this is a new property, but the office staff is poorly trained in the workings of the property. I had two separate employees tell me the same thing. I followed their instructions just to find out that they were wrong and it ended up costing me in the end. Brought this to the attention of the office and it was handled with Ashley yelling at me and pretty much being told oh well, we are not going to do anything about that. Be warned, this place has a lot of issues. we are starting to regret our 2 year lease.

This property has everything I was looking for. Luxurious amenities, 5 star hotel-like atmosphere, friendly staffs, quite community, shops nearby, accessibility, and ease of living. Move-in specials were absolutely the best among compatible properties in the area; 2 month free grocery gifts valet dry cleaning. If you are looking for a community that offers various amenities that can make your life easy, Notch 8 is the final destination. Crystal City is too crowded and Old Town Alexandria is little further for commuting to D.C. Notch 8 is just a perfect one. JBG manages well and staffs are pros and friendly. I have had no issues since I moved-in. Door-to-door valet dry cleaning service is one of my best experience in Notch 8. Giant grocery store has everything for my diet. The necessities of life, food, cloth, shelter, are covered within this property. Thumbs up!
The Notch is conveniently located in the up and coming Potomac Yards area, a safe and new development in VA. The building has great amenities and staff. Sadly, the walls for the apartment seem to be non-existent late at night. I can hear footsteps and conversations late into the early morning. I don't use a hearing aid or have super "hearing" powers, so this is a smear to what seemed to be an almost perfect building.
Notch 8 is a " notch above" the rest. Fabulous design, decor and feels like home. Very elegant yet rustic feel. The owner of this building spared no expense!!! They chose the very best quality of material, the mill work is amazing and the feel is soothing. The courtyard is an oasis; resort in the middle of the city; a fabulous vacation every day of your life. The neighborhood is #thebest. The finishes are comparable to a customized home; check out the fabulous shower head, modern sink, and kitchen backslash to die for... Simply elegant and a "notch above" the rest.
