Property Ratings at Oak Brook Gardens
I rent a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment and have been here for almost 3 years. This place is a great price and decent size. The neighbors are friendly and staff is usually responsive. However, many things do not work. Living here for almost three years the refrigerator stopped running in the middle of the night, but the 24/7 maintenance came and brought a new one right away, both the bedroom and hall closet doors have come off their tracks, The bathroom door does not close all the way, the screen door to the balcony does not line up with the wall which lets bugs in, the AC does not work, the thermostat is adjustable from your apartment, but the temperature doesn’t change, we have had ants multiple times (each time getting rid of them using ant traps to kill the queen), we have also found multiple dead bees in the windows, the floors and walls are extremely thin - so thin you can hear your neighbors snoring or using the restroom, and cigarette smoke keeps sleeping into our bedroom (we are not sure if it’s coming from outside or through the vents because it comes in when the window is open and when it is closed). Overall, it is not the worst place to live, but the location is a bit far for me from any highway and the friendliness of the neighbors are staff are a nice perk. The building itself is just too old. The washer/dryer also shrinks clothes and only accepts a laundry card that you must refill with cash only. This can only be refilled in the building where the leasing office is and you can only get in (if you don’t live in that building) during office hours so the leasing office can buzz you in. The apartment also has small cracks/holes in the walls, letting bugs in. Other than the ants and bees, we’ve had silverfish and centipedes coming through the holes. My biggest complaint about this complex is the amount of tenants that smoke cigarettes. It is a huge downside that you are allowed to smoke in your own apartment, because it seeps into other apartments. I had to buy two air purifiers to help this and can still smell it coming in. The only reason I haven’t left yet is because the price is so cheap and the people are bearable.

Quiet, basic apartment! Pool is nice! Location is perfect! No complaints about management. Maintenance always fixed anything the same day. Very safe area! Highly recommend!!
I really enjoyed living here. There was some mild noise from the neighbors upstairs, but really it was all great. Nearly everything was renovated prior to my move in, at no extra cost. I never had any problem with the office or maintenance. Plenty of parking is available. Safe neighborhood and easy access to highways, shopping, Giant Eagle, etc. Each resident has a little storage locker, but there's only one washing machine per building. I miss my cozy little apartment here! Many other places within the similar price range are dumps in comparison.
I applied for a two bedroom a month ago. The next day the office called and the person was rude and short on the phone. I was denied for some reason with her stating i didnt have good credit. This was a lie, i know my credit and i surely had good enough to rent an aprtment. They also said i would get a letter stating the reason why, which i never got. I believe they said what i wanted to hear so i would pay the fee to apply. What a shady apartment complex. I have been at my current apartment for over 2 1/2 years with no payment issues. I have tried to get in contact with them multiple times with no response. What a waste of time for money grubbing liars
My apartment is small but it's home to me. I just recently tore my Achilles' tendon so I've had to spend A lot of time just sitting around in it. The ceiling was sagging just recently so maintenance had to come and do some repairs. Overall it's just your average small one bedroom apartment.
Great no frills apartments located in safe neighborhood. Cheap rent with heat included is the reason I've lived here for 3 years. Major highways, restaurants and shopping are 5-10 minutes away and the Cleveland Metroparks is right down the street. Management is available 7 days a week which is nice- and the maintenance staff is usually very quick with repairs. Most of the apartments have balconies and each unit gets the usage of one storage locker. The one drawback is the laundry room. Each building only has once large capacity washer and dryer. That's not nearly enough for 12 apartments per building.
The management at this property is awful. They do not care about your needs. They do not care one bit about noise complaints, the leasing manager shrugged her shoulders when I said what should I do, they did not care about the tenant only reviewing their monthly payment. If you love noise and paper thin walls this is the place for you. I highly recommend not moving here at all.
good place to live n easy access to the near by stores, schools etc
