Situated in the heart of the Midwest, Fort Wayne is a nearly equal distance from Chicago, Detroit, and Cincinnati. Indiana’s second-largest city, Fort Wayne is a delightful mix of metropolitan amenities and small-town quirks. The cultural scene in Fort Wayne is thriving, with exceptional performances at the Embassy Theatre, extensive exhibits at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and the many offerings of the renowned Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.
Fort Wayne brings the community together for a bevy of special events, including BuskerFest, Johnny Appleseed Festival, and the Three Rivers Festival. Fort Wayne residents also congregate for a variety of athletic events, but especially for Tin Caps home games at Parkview Field.
Ample green space, trails, and parkland provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation in Fort Wayne in addition to the Maumee, Saint Marys, and Saint Joseph Rivers, which all converge in the city.

Property Ratings at OAK CROSSING
Location is good. My apmt is quiet: with windows closed you can barely hear traffic and I am satisfied with the insulation. The maint. people are great - requests are often completed on the next business day and quality is good. The grounds are well maintained. Parking is OK, although it can be "musical chairs" after 7 pm, so having a garage saves a lot of grief. Now the bad points.. Since the change of management there is disrespect towards the residents from management and constant stream of improvement/redo notices. They changed the resident portals and made everyone re-instate their payment options. Next, they installed digital locks without giving any options to opt out or waiting until people moved out. If you didn't register for this service, you will be locked out. Shortly, it went from bad to worse. They started renovations while people were still residing in their apartments! They replaced carpets in living rooms with cheap, ugly smelly vinyl floors, replaced kitchen and bathroom taps (now the bathroom faucet doesn't match the bathtub one), painted kitchen cabinets white (from natural wood), put wall tiles in the kitchen that look like public toilet wall, put vinyl floors in the bathroom (instead of tile). To make it worse, they told us we have to move our living room furniture into our bedrooms for 3 days (!) and we have no say in this, don't complain, if you don't do it you will be charged. I have carpet scraps stuffed in my coat closet left behind, some of my kitchen cabinet doors are crooked, and one is hanging on one screw. The vinyl floors are already starting to lift up in areas. Definite downgrade! Next was parking lot resurfacing, and people were told to park elsewhere or be towed. Then another "improvement" came: rent payment went to a different app and everyone was required to redo their payments again. We only had 4 days notice prior to start of this, a week from rent due date. On the commencement day all automatic payments were disabled, and if you happened to be away from home or missed the notice - too bad! The apartment models vary greatly, from nice to small, dark and dodgy. Don't believe what you see online: it might not be what you get. Even dodgy ones are overpriced. The appliances are a bit dated. The staircases are dirty and old and there is no cover or elevator (makes it difficult to move groceries or heavy luggage to upper floors). It is a hazard in the winter, they get slick with ice and show.

We’d like to apologize for the negative experience you had with us. We’ve taken your feedback and will work hard to implement needed changes. We'd love to make things right! Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience.
Don’t let the “sticker” price fool you. There is so many things they add on. There’s no insulation so not only can you hear your neighbors snoring, your heat (electric) bill will be over $200.

We are so sorry we did not meet your expectations. We’d love to make this situation right and provide a solution that will result in a more positive experience. We hope to hear from you soon.
The area is relatively quiet, but that ends once you walk into your home. You are able to hear every step someone takes above you if you are unfortunate enough to have an upstairs neighbor. The appliances are absolutely second-rate. Microwaves are so underpowered that it will take 7 minutes to make something as simple as popcorn. The dishwashers would be "luxurious" if we were still living in 2005. As for the management team, they are great corporate puppets that will try their absolute hardest to only please the management company and not assist a resident. If you must live on the northeast side Oak Crossing is a good option until the apartment complex next to them is finished.
I love the location. But price is much higher then others in the area. Although they are on par for Carroll school district.
Very, very , very noisy and too crowded and dirty.
Tremendous upkeep and great people to live near. Everything fits your needs, and if it doesn’t there multiple places nearby that will. Recommended greatly!

I WOULD recommend this community as being one of the nicest in the vicinity.
Nice apartments, good location, and quite community
Amenities, great location and clean. Great pricing
Very clean a d resonantly priced. It' also very close to everything you need! Exceeded my expectations
It' very posh, well kept. If that' what you're looking for, it' great. A bit beyond our price range, and nicer quality than we need.
Beautiful apartments, I enjoyed my tour. Would love to move here someday.

Enjoy the quality of the neighborhood, apartment and staff
yes
Would recommend for modern finishing, adequate storage areas, affordable price, excellent location, very good maintenance service, vibrant community with young age active residents, my apartment now has a great pool view and nice patio. Would not recommend due to: Indoor Parking garages are not always available, lack of elevators makes life difficult if you like to live upstairs, apartments on the back (Like Apt 622 that I used to live in) have blocked view and no sun enters at all, and the grass on the back is not taken care of at all and is a nest for spiders, frogs and insects that attack the patio and the apartment, Also those back apartments are close to a small pond that has no fence around it which may not be safe for someone who have kids. These issues are specific for the apartments on the back. Finally there is more attention paid to dogs than kids. There is a dog play area but no single slide or swing for kids.
They meet the needs of residents quickly and always courteous
It has been an enjoyable experience so far and I have not had any major issues
I would recommend this apartment because the staff is very responsive. The grounds outside our apartment can get messy just from our neighbors above us throwing cigarettes off of their balcony. We had to pick them up because we did not want our dog or other dogs eating them.
The maintenance staff has always been very responsive to any issue that I have had.
I had a family member recommend Oak Crossing to me, as he lived there for a few years and had a very good experience with it!
We loved this community. You certainly get what you pay for and that is why this is one of the better communities in the area. Everything was nice inside and we loved the amount of space in our unit as well as on the balcony. We also enjoyed the outdoor environment they maintain so well. We would have loved to stay and renew our lease for a couple more years however what we were paying for rent was the top of our budget, and the rent increase was not welcomed. We decided to at least explore other options. We considered staying and just paying the increased rent, but ultimately found another community close by that had more updated features inside and out, with a significantly lower price-point with added bonuses which made our rent even more affordable. If money wasn't an issue, I absolutely would have stayed a few more years but we needed the change. We are now in a first floor unit in our new home, everything is brand new and very updated, and there are a few extra amenities that are convenient for our needs. With the almost $300 in savings per month that we now have, PLUS upgrades in our daily living, we just could not stay there.
Tia was great to work with. She was very knowledgable and thorough. I feel that she truly cares about what I am looking for and made me feel like I was home.
They were great when they came to fix the problem and called the necessary company quickly to make sure it was solved. It took 10 days from our submission to get a follow up, which the member said was because he was at another property for the week, which is fine, but some communication or another staff member could have checked in on us, especially due to the nature of the problem.
Location is great and the value is well worth it

the community is nice and quiet; the apartments are contemporary. Spacing is an issue with the kitchen.

The amount charged for rent is a bit high. If my rent goes up with my next lease I will probably move.

Very nice amenities ex granite counters, black appliances, in home washer and dryer. Cannot find these anywhere else in Fort Wayne for the price.

My only would not would be the fact that it's not a smoke free place. I hate that my neighbors can smoke in their apts. I shouldn't have to deal with the smell on my clothes and my rooms with the amount I pay to live here.

The Dryer issue I had, happened again. The maintenance team came back the next morning with another dryer and also checked my hot water heater and fixed that as well without me having to submit another work order. I appreciate them very much.

I would recommend Oak Crossing because my apartment is gorgeous! The community is extremely nice as well.
Rent is the highest in Fort Wayne and does not include any utilities. Other apartments offer upgraded decor with the same amenities for a lower rate.
I am continually puzzled why the dog waste receptacle is just 20-25 feet from the cooking grill and just outside the patios of 1st floor units. The smell of urine is often in the air. I would think there would be a designated dog path/area for the walks and defecating .
I would recommend for the location. I would not recommend for the price coupled with the office hours. It was too difficult to get anything from the office due to hours that continued to be shortened. The lowest prices reflect the highest floors of the community as well.
I would definitely recommend this apartment community, but only to those who I knew could afford the high rates.
Our older friends who would have difficulty with stairs - "would not" recommend for them unless they could be assured of a 1st floor apartment.
I love the apartment complex, the price is something that is keeping me away from them. I like the location but I'm not very familiar either.
Was unable to see one of the apartments with garage attached at time of first visit.

Moving out was difficult. No wiggle with the 60 day notice. Forced to pay for a lot of things at move out.
These apartments are amazing. I hope my rent doesn?t go up, because I love it here!!!! Wondering what the retention rate is here.

My husband and I previously lived in a nice apartment complex in Indy (similar to Oak Crossing), but the complex was built in the early 2000s and the windows were absolutely horrible. Our electric bills were so high because all of our heat would leave our apartment in the winter and all of the AC would leave in the summer via our windows. We love living in a newer apartment complex now and our windows are so much better. We love it here for many reasons.
It’s nice to have quiet. IBeing single, I don’t worry about security. Lights are nice and bright in the breeze way
I would recommend this apartment community to anyone that I know for a number of different reasons, but in terms of maintenance, the problems were fixed very promptly and correctly.
Beautiful place. The amenities are not quite as nice as I have been us to but still good. Love the pool and outside appearance of the property.
I would definitely recommend it to those who can afford it, but for people who are around or under my pay scale, I?d recommend they look for something cheaper.
Oak Crossing is terrific in many aspects and we will be in touch with community manager to talk about the floorplan available around the time we would like to move in. Thanks!
Even though I have not yet moved into my new apartment unit with my husband, I was very impressed by the unit that I saw and the person at the leasing office was friendly and provided answers to all of our questions. The complex seems great and the price of our unit is great! We are really looking forward to moving into Oak Crossing.
