Property Ratings at Oak Park Apartment Homes
After living there for four years I can honestly say it was the most crime infested area of such a beautiful pocket in California. We lived in Sylmar, Hollywood, K town, and this place Made me feel the least safe. I have records of seven break-ins of vehicles, and porches or patios, and constant packages being stolen. My car was stolen last year and they did nothing about it. But man they will send an email every single day if they see a kid on a scooter. And fine you for that. We lived there almost 4 years and were told during our pre-inspection that it needed basic cleaning, and small patching and painting. We did all of that. We had two cleaning ladies come in and help us. And they took our entire security deposit except for $100, their reasoning… A water ring outside on our porch from a potted plant, And an empty cupboard we forgot to clean. The workers that are here are super kind… Although they don’t really know how to fix anything. We had a broken closet door the entire time and they came in and “fixed it“ four times. Don’t let the kind ladies in the office fool you. Nobody cares about you at these apartments. They can’t do anything to help you, all they can do is tell you they can do nothing. This is a large corporation just making money. They don’t want cameras to make their tenants safer even after constant crime. During Covid when for other apartment complexes in the area offered two months worth of relief they offered a credit card that you could pay off after six months. If you’re looking for a home this is not it. If you’re looking for a place to just put your stuff I recommend a storage unit because your stuff will get stolen here.
Do you like hearing your upstairs neighbors footsteps as if they are in your apartment? How about their toilet flushing like its next to you? What about your windows shaking everytime they walk in the hallway? Then this apartment complex is for you! This is in believable and unfortunate. I have lived in a few apartment complex before, but never have I heard the kinds of noise I do here. I knew it was too good to be true. For the price I got it for does not at all equal the value I receive. Pro- you are right next to a bunch of eateries The maintenance seems to be kept up and helpful. The one star is for that. Con- Even though you are in Oak Park, expect petty crime, like package stealing. No noise insulation between you and your upstairs neighbor so everything they do is like they are doing right there in your apartment. The fan in the bathroom and toilet sound like jets flying across the sky. Poor quality upgrades. The laminate on my kitchen cabinets are bubbling up. Everything is old and needs upgrading to be on par with the price
We moved in thinking we had found a gem. We were hoping to save to buy a home in the area but sadly that took a small detour when our rent increase hit and we had no choice but to sign another lease or pay a month to month amount that was unrealistic for us. Staff was nice when we first met but changed within the first few months.. Those women are rude and non-responsive when we had concerns about issues in our area. We lived in apartments for a few years since our careers kept us traveling but with no doubt this place has to be the worst experience we have ever had. I think the mostly positive reviews you see here are people who have lived in this place less than a year. Unfortunately many tenants we have talked with feel the same which I suspect is why the turnaround is so great. We obviously are moving and I have told my company to stop recommending this place.
If money is not an issue then you will like this place. It is nice, well taken care but walls are thin, older appliances and bathrooms. Beware -the average rent increase is 9-9.5% a year. Tenants are told that they can work with on site staff to help negotiate the rent increase when the lease comes up but staff is very misleading. On site office staff can be very nice and very arrogant. It's really too bad because if they ran this property with care towards the good tenants this would probably be a property with a large waiting list and loyal tenants. Be careful when you move out, hidden fees seem to come out of nowhere.
Nothing is worth the cost to live here. Couldn’t wait to get out
We just put a deposit down on a 2 bed 2 bath Dorian unit. Great that it has double master bedrooms with walk in closets. Staff is very friendly . Best of all, our kids can be in the amazing Oak Park School District
This community is a great place to live. I've lived in many other apartments within the area and so far this is the best place for my buck. It has all the features We were looking for, accepts my dog (I have a basset hound & despite him being a mellow breed they're on quite a few restricted breed), washer & dryer in unit, hard wood floors, spacious unit, quiete area great for kids. It's walking distance from a lot of shops yet still quiete at night. Our unit is by trees so it gets a nice breeze during the day & not too. The managment and especially the maintenance staff are all friendly and accomodating. We can report any maintenance issues online & pay rent online as well which makes it very convenient.
OAK PARK APARTMENTS ARE NESTLED BETWEEN AGOURA HILLS AND THOUSAND OAKS. CLOSE ENOUGH TO LOS ANGELES TO MAKE IT CONVENIENT, BUT YET DISTANT ENOUGH TO KEEP IT ON THE EDGE OF RURAL. OAK PARK OFFERS MILES OF HIKING TRAILS AND WILDLIFE TO VIEW AND THE WEATHER IS USUALLY 10DEGREES COOLER THAN THE VALLEY. I HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE O1 AND FIND IT A GREAT RETREAT AFTER A LONG DAY. JUST A FEW MILES FROM MALIBU YOU HAVE THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS.. THE APARTMENTS ARE MAINTAINED METICULOUSLY AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPLEX FOR ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LONG OR SHORT TERM, IT IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES I HAVE LIVED...
