If you love baseball — particularly if you love the Chicago Cubs — there's only one neighborhood for you: Lakeview! Bordering Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago directly above Lincoln Park, Lakeview houses one of Chicago’s most popular destinations: Wrigley Field. Originally built in 1914 for Federal League’s Chicago Whales, Wrigley Field is one the oldest still-operating stadiums in the MLB. It was renamed Wrigley Field in 1926 by then-owner William Wrigley Jr., a chewing gum manufacturer.
Of course, there's more to Lakeview than baseball. From the luxury high-rise apartments along Lake Shore Drive to the tree-filled streets and single-family homes in Graceland West, there's something for everyone in Lakeview. This large neighborhood consists of several smaller enclaves, including Wrigleyville, Boystown, and North Halsted. Lakeview features several theaters, such as the Music Box Theater and the Playground Theater, as well as music venues and shops.

Property Ratings at Oakdale Terrace - 525 W Oakdale Ave
What an uninhabitable dump this place is. They are so unhelpful/don’t really do anything. 31 days of leaking water in bedroom with 2ft hole in ceiling for weeks. Then living room ceiling started leaking water and they never fixed it. Heat was out for around two weeks or so. Water was out for over a week or so. Chicago Renters Right, Alderman & Department Of Building is helping with this. 10 minutes after Department of Building went to my uninhabitable unit. I got call from Horizon about them agreeing to pay $200 a night for hotel until issue was resolved since unit is uninhabitable. There is so much mold in the unit, my friend almost had allergic reaction while helping me pack and Horizon didn’t care. They refuse to pay me back for hotels even though I have it in writing. They do terrible job responding to emails/questions. This building is under fire with violations from what I was told. Stay away from this awful reality group. Read other reviews and notice the poor ratings. I made that mistake. They will most likely try and find cheapest contractor to fix your issue, meaning good luck getting issue fixed in timely manner. They left power and lights on for days while I was gone since I couldn’t live there safely… they turned off power to fridge for some reason. Due to the nasty mold/leaking water and fridge, they made this place smell disgusting. Hopefully they don’t paint the mold over
Wish I would’ve read the reviews before loving here. Worst apartment experience! Everything was good for about a year, but after that year my apartment became infested with roaches. Worst thing about that is I know I took some with me to my new home. On the other hand management was cool, but she always wanted to do tours and have pest come while I was not available with a dog home at that. I was extremely uncomfortable, but different strokes for different folks! Parking drove me crazy and so did them water bug cockroaches in the lobby my friends would see when coming over ?????? so embarrassing. Zhana is great with management but the roaches drove me away!
Where to begin - management couldn’t care less about its residents or the property upkeep. Someone broke into the building and shredded everyone’s mail and packages? No problem - management will just send out ANOTHER email saying to “promptly pick up your packages.” When I say this happened over and over again…don’t risk it. The building is outdated and there was a cheap attempt to decorate-away the buildings age. It’s ugly too! What a waste of $15 from Home Goods.
incessant maintenance requests that are never resolved. Plumbing leaks and cigarette smoke protruding every inch of the unit. The roach infestation is a nice touch too. Disgusting.
This complex is full of extremely loud and rude neighbors who blast music, jump around, and make so much racket 24/7. The walls are thin so you can not get a single moment of peace in this building, and management doesn't do anything to help. If you work from home or take online classes you'll just have to deal with listening to your neighbor blast bass boosted music that literally vibrates the walls and floors of your apartment when you're trying to concentrate. This is the first building I've lived in where I've seen roaches. I was told my unit would come with a microwave, and the website even said so, but that information was misleading and incorrect because my unit did NOT come with a microwave. The "package room" is a complete disaster and unorganized, and packages get stolen left and right with no resolution. They said the elevator repairs would take "approximately 3 weeks" but right now it has been almost 6 entire weeks and the elevator still isn't fixed. The laundry room is too small and doesn't have enough working washers and dryers to accommodate the tenants. The central heating is weak, the weather outside is in the single digits and my apartment is absolutely freezing, I'm having to bundle up under multiple blankets to stay remotely warm. The parking garage is cramped, dark, and impossible to navigate. Don't let the new "fancy" lobby fool you, this place is not worth what they charge. Don't move here.
Be prepared for constant construction noise and dogs barking through the night. This building is cockroach infested and management does nothing. The roaches WILL find a way into your unit no matter how clean you are. The property manager is one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered. “Package room” that they brag about smells like a sewer and packages are regularly stolen. Stay far far away. This building is not worth the money.
This building has so many issues, I don't even know where to begin. The cockroach problem is out of control. Horizon Realty Group does absolutely nothing to address it. They claimed to have pest control come, but the problem never goes away. Residents complained about the front lobby, which is littered with 100s of packages daily, so they acted like they were listening and said that they would give us a "package room", but we would have to sacrifice the gym/workout facilities. What they actually did was turn that gym space into a brand new leasing office and they now dump the packages into the old leasing office, which has been completely gutted and is a disgusting old closet with exposed electrical and wooden beams. The laundry room always has at least 1-2 machines broken at a time. Lights are burnt out in the stairwell for months on end. I could go on and one. STAY AWAY!!!!! It's not worth the spacious floor plans!
Do NOT rent here! This building has a massive Roach problem.
Do not rent at this building unless you are okay with a cockroaches infesting your apartment/the entire building. This place is so run down and dirty, don't let the "renovated" units fool you. I was here for a little under a year and could not wait to finally get out. They have a massive cockroach problem and honestly the whole building needs to be fumigated. I would not recommend this building to anyone, there are TONS of other better options in the area for the same if not better prices.
I moved to this complex from a brand new building, so it was quite a change. This is an older building with its charms. It is in a great location, a tree lined quiet street with puppies and strollers moving around the neighborhood. Trader Joe's, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and a bunch of independent shops all within walking distance. Management has been very good to me. Communication was my big issue with my last apartment, that is not an issue here. The building engineers are very helpful as well. My problems have been addressed in a timely and friendly manor. I am quite comfortable here. Price. I was paying an exorbitant amount of money for a one bedroom on the other end of the same neighborhood. Oakdale Terrace is saving me over $1000 a month for the same amount of space. Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good deal.
