Property Ratings at Oakmont Village
My wife an I have lived here for 3 and a half years, and are genuinely sad to be moving out of our amazing apartment for work! Niecy, the property manager, is one of the nicest people I've ever had the privilege of conducting business with. The office staff are friendly, helpful, and the maintenance staff, for the 2 times we needed them in 3.5 years, were prompt, efficient, and super friendly! The amenities (gym, elevator, key code access!) always was an extra bonus. The best thing I can say about Oakmont, though is that because of the high-quality construction (we think that the builder of the condos down the road practiced with the apartment buildings), I never once heard a sound from my neighbors' apartments. It is right across the street from an amazing Harris Teeter and 4 great restaurants (Mad Chef is our favorite!). Our Cedar floorplan, 2bd,2ba, was plenty big and they allow cats, which was perfect for our family. In short, if you want to live in the Ellicott City area, you should definitely come look at Oakmont Village.
We have been here almost 2 years and it is a great place to live. The staff at the front office are very friendly and very responsive to any issues you may have. What you have to keep in mind is that these are brand new buildings. The community just opened in 2014. So yes there are some settlement cracks and other minor issues that crop up with any new construction. If you want everything to be perfect right off the bat, then of course you will not be happy. I can honestly say that they go above and beyond to address any problems that you may have. The maintenance guys are friendly and on top of things. They handle most maintenance requests within 24-48 hours. Pros-- 1) The grounds are immaculately kept. The buildings are cleaned every day, which I have not encountered anywhere else I have lived in the area. They are always cutting the grass, pruning the trees, etc. 2) In the winter they are out shoveling, salting, and clearing the parking lot. They are out all night during big storms and start 4-5 AM during the smaller ones. Where we lived before this was a huge problem and we missed days of work as they seemed to be unable to clear the lot in a reasonable time so this is a huge plus for us. 3)The front entrance is always locked and you have to be buzzed in. We like the fact that not just anyone can walk into the building--which again was a big concern where we lived before. CONS-- 1) As someone mentioned there is nowhere for children to play so that is a consideration if you have a family with small kids. 2) The power does tend to go out every so often --mostly in the summer with high AC use (but that to me is a BGE problem not Oakmont's fault--as it also goes out in the surrounding stores/restaurants). It usually doesn't last long but is annoying if you happen to be cooking. 3) If your apartment is near a staircase the doors opening and closing tend to be really loud and if a lot of people use it that can be frustrating when people are leaving for work at 5 AM. 4) There is no system to track who is actually a resident that can park in the community. So when there are events at Turf Valley all the resident spots are taken by those who feel like they can park anywhere. So some kind of identifying sticker with the Oakmont logo would be nice. Anyway overall it is a great place to live. I am glad we made the move.

Thank you for taking time to review our community. I’m happy to hear that you are having a pleasant living experience at Oakmont Village Apartments. It is always our goal to provide excellent customer service. I will be certain to pass on your compliments to the leasing and maintenance staff. I would also like to mention that Oakmont offers a Resident Referral Program. Although there are no play areas on the property there are parks and recreational facilities nearby. The brief BGE power outages are also concern of management. Please know that we have been in contact with BGE and they are working on trying to resolve the issue. I would like the opportunity to speak with you to discuss the noise and settlements cracks in further detail. Please stop by the Oakmont Leasing office at your convenience or contact me at 410-461-8400. Thank you, Genevieve
You should probably take "free weights" off the website since they were taken away. Maybe if the walls weren't so thin you wouldn't have a problem with all the noise they make.

The free weights have been returned to gym. In addition, we have upgraded the floor mat to better assist you in your workout. We appreciate every ones patience and understanding during our strive to find a suitable solution. Thank you, Genevieve
Way overpriced. Huge turnover in property managers. The property manager that cared about the residents and was the best of all the staff left in August with no explanation. Very disturbing. I have huge settlement cracks in my apartment and nobody does a thing. The electricity always goes out as do the elevators and no cell phone reception in the building at all. The construction of the building is shoddy.
Lived here for about a year and its just ok. Love my apartment but the noise level above me is horrible. Loved our last property manager and she left very fast and no explanations. There have been 3-4 property managers in a year. Definitely not a development for children as there are no places for them to play or run around so they do it in the hallways and last weekend 5-6 kids were blocking the front entrance with bicycles and ran over the flowers.

Many of the managers that have been at Oakmont are long term employees of the company. These mangers have volunteered their time to assist at Oakmont until we were able to find a qualified manager. I would like to discuss the noise issue with you and am available to speak with you. Please feel free to contact me the leasing office Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Thank you, Genevieve
This is a very nice, quiet place to live. There has been a lot of turnaround of property managers which is a little concerning. There have been a couple of unexplained issues that occurred in the building such as the water being shut off for 24 hours, power outages and now the trash chutes are not working for a week. The staff could do better in telling us what the issues are.

Great location to feel as home. Very friendly management and maintenance people. Nicely maintained with excellent small shopping complex just opposite to the apartments. If they can add play area then this will be one of the best in Ellicott City location. Schools are excellent.
