Property Ratings at Oakwood Terrace
There are only 6 washers and 6 dryers for 40 units, and half the time many are not working. Tenants leave all kinds of furniture and trash outside of the dumpster..makes the place look like crap. The window blinds are cheap- break easy. When I moved out they deducted $26 for each damaged blind! Ridiculous! Noisy if you live in front building on Main Street. So glad to be out of there.
Very thin walls creaking floors, could hear neighbors walking around. AC units never worked properly. Instead of getting a professional to fix right away the maintenance guy would attempt to fix. Our car got damaged twice while we lived there. First by our neighbors visitors. They had people over every weekend partying taking up parking spots, speeding through parking. Then the mowing crew that did their grounds maintenance. Constantly overflowing trash. Other tenants smoking cigarettes and other substances. Laundry room washer and dryer constantly breaking. Cable internet outlet was not even hooked up properly when moved in. Tub leaked first night. Super old windows down stairs making it breezy and cold in winter. Only positive it that Overall the apartment was in a good location and clean bug free.
Don’t be fooled by the photos. At a quick glance, everything looks beautiful but it is deceiving. The dishwasher isn’t even hooked up, something extra to ask for, even though advertised that kitchens have one. The walls are thin, windows barely open downstairs because they are so old (windows in bedrooms are new). The laundry facility is a joke. Five washers and six dryers for the entire complex- and they all aren’t even always working! The trash and recycling is ALWAYS overflowing, recycling and trash are constantly being blown all over the grass area. Parking is also a joke. Two units have had broken down cars taking up spots in the parking area for 6+ months and management has done nothing about it except to now (in June) assign us parking passes and threaten to tow anyone without a pass since 2 cars are allowed per unit. Management constantly threatens to tow, but there are no real efforts for towing anyone even after multiple complaints. This complex is overpriced for what it offers, I would not suggest this complex to anyone.
First, property management is based out of NH, so don’t expect them to ever be helpful with anything in regards to the property. Don’t expect snow to be removed until 24 hours after it’s stopped snowing. They do a poor job at holding tenants responsible for their actions that effect other tenants. Second, while the photos appear nice, don’t be fooled. They’re an old build with bandaids to make the units look nice, but really are subpar. Appliances and fixtures are low quality, floors are uneven, windows are so drafty sand and dirt from outside is blown onto windowsills, walls are so thin you can hear neighbor’s normal volume conversations next door, smells leak through the walls constantly, trash and recycling is picked up so rarely that it’s constantly over flowing and littered all over the property... the list could go on and on. Would not recommend this property to anyone.
If a hot shower is important to you search elsewhere. I am disappointed to be writing this review because they have remodeled and this place is very nice. But I think one of the most important things to my daily routine is a HOT shower. I have become accustomed to NOT have to crank my shower knob to as hot as it will go and still have a steamy shower. But here, this is not an option. There have been 3-4 occasions where the water is cold. And my daily experience is to wait 10-15 minutes for the water to heat up. Even then, I have it cranked to the hottest it will go and it is warm - I have to turn the heater on in my bathroom so that it keeps it warm enough on these winter days. I have contacted the property on 3 occasions to no avail. I am assuming this is because making an adjustment to plumbing is very costly. If you are thinking of moving in here I would recommend getting a showing for the time you like to take your shower and test the water out. I have heard that there are units that have better hot water than others.
