Established in Williamsburg in 1888, the University of the Cumberlands has cultivated a reputation as one of the preeminent Christian institutions in the region. A relatively small student body of around 6,000 (split almost evenly between undergraduates and postgraduates) participates in dozens of different fields of study, including the popular Department of Missions and Ministry. The campus evokes a timeless charm from its many historic buildings and the beautiful views of the nearby mountains.

Positioned right on the edge of Daniel Boone National Forest near the Tennessee state line, Cumberlands’ hometown of Williamsburg is a small community spanning the banks of the Cumberland River. Most of the area surrounding the university is residential, with the city’s Main Street running through the center of campus. Living near Cumberlands will put you conveniently close to Williamsburg’s main commercial area, as well as the sprawling natural beauty of the neighboring nature preserves. You’ll also have easy access to I-75, putting Lexington, Knoxville, and beyond just a short drive away.
