Old Farm Shores

The staff at the Old Farm Shores office are always so kind and helpful. They’ve aided me through many difficulties of moving into my first apartment.

I have been living in Old Farm Shores Apartments for almost 2 years and I can say with complete confidence, I love it! I love the atmosphere & vibe. Pretty much everyone I encounter, neighbors & all, seem very kind & friendly. Nice trails you can walk & bike nearby. I love walking around at night with my dog and seeing a bunch of sweet deer. I love the ponds with all the geese & ducks. I love that it is pet friendly. My pup loves the dog park & I love all the other pups. My daughter & I love the pool, which is a very nice pool & always clean. They have a nice gazebo you can host a bbq in the summer or just cook dinner for the fam & a fire pit area. A nice little gym & club house. The club house has games/hangout area you can access unless there's a party. They also always do cool events like free dinners, cookie decorating, contests, etc, thought the year. The area in general is pretty nice. I hardly hear any disturbances. The staff is GREAT! Maintenance will get on your request on the same day. Larry, Tasha & Patty are awesome office peeps, the best! Kara is the BEST property manager EVER!!! She is truly amazing! Any of them will always help you with anything you need. I love living here! I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a great, safe, peaceful place to live :)

Old farm shores not be the newest of apartments, but the staff sure makes it the best place to live! The resident events, such as Christmas in July, game nights, hot cocoa bars and cookie decorating are so much fun… there is always something to do. The office staff are great and the maintenance are the best around, especially Jon W who will quickly fix any work order and is always so friendly!

I have really enjoyed my time at Old Farm Shores since being relocated back to the GR area. I took a 2-bedroom that gives me plenty of space to work from home and also have my dogs feel comfortable. Patty in the office showed us the dog park right away and I appreciate how pet-friendly they are here and in the surrounding area. Definitely recommend.

I am a new resident and have had an amazing experience with the leasing office! Tasha, Larry, and Patty have all been so helpful and kind throughout the application/touring process and during move in. Couldn’t ask for a friendlier, more responsive, and overall better team to assist me in finding this apartment. Maintenance is also very quick and responsive which is great!

I am not currently a resident, but when looking into and starting the application process. Not only did we find zero red flags, but Tasha gave us a tour of available apartments an was able to give us straight forward solid answers to every question we could think to ask. We did not leave with any questions.

The apartments and the grounds are well maintained. The admin and support staff are friendly and helpful, very responsive if you call for maintenance. There are multiple sizes of apartments for rent. There's an option for carport parking, for a nominal monthly fee. With a walking trail on the edges of the property, small lakes/ponds for catch and release fishing, a swimming pool and various apartment community events, there are plenty of things to do without necessarily having to into the city. There are plenty of stores, restaurants and doctors offices in the immediate area. The airport is close enough to be convenient, but far enough away so that the noise isn't bothersome.

So here's my honest review of why I gave Old Farm Shore a 5 star review For everyone that reads my post my name is Janet. I wanted you to know that this is a real and honest review of my experinces and why I rented my apartment home here at Old Farm Shores. What can I say but from the start but I truly feel and felt Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!! I could start by telling you about how spacious the apartments are, or how beautiful the ambience with the ponds(plural)and ducks make me feel like I am always on vacation. But instead I am a firm believer that first impressions are lasting impressions. Which is the heart and soul of this reveiw and our story. Last year I actually came in to see about an apartment and I met Patty one the Leasing agents there. I've never met such a kind, sweet,and knowledgeable real estate professional. The only reason I did not rent the apartment last year in 2018 Because I rented a place that was 2 minutes away from my job and, in the summer I could even walk to the job and save on gas if I wanted to. So when my employer moved this year to the Kentwood area I came back to Old Farm Shore. And one of the thing that impressed me most is that a year later Patty the leasing professional still rembered me they all made me feel that we made the right decision to call North Shore Drive our new home. In our search for our version of the perfect home we checked out several diffrent apartments, condo's,and town home communities and my roomate and I always compared each apartment visit to the experience we had with Patty. We soon realized that none of the other places we visited gave us that real and genuine concierge customer service we recieved from Patty at Old farm Shores. The other visits to the other apartment communities felt fake and contrived. With each visit to Old Farm Shores we could tell that Patty was not eager to just sell us an apartment but truly trying to find the homewe can display all we worked hard for and treasure. I love living here and it's like your a family here instead of an apartment complex. I have 4 sets of neighbors and we all look out for one another.With the view of the Lake I feel like I'm on vacation and staying at a 5 star resort.This was the best move of my life.They also have community events that include movies, food,and fun. The grounds are kept landscaped well and they are cleaAnd like Mr. Rodgers said won't you be my neighbors. Janet

The loft style studios are spacious and full of natural light. Laundry is next door and balcony gives extra relax area. Pool, pet park, trails, lakes, trees, easy trash disposal, plenty of parking, and friendly staff. Best price for the works! Pet friendly and clubhouse activities. Residential area near shops, food, gas, and schools. Maintenance staff is on point. Patty, Larry, and Andy are great teammates. You'll enjoy living in peace here in resort style living. I sure do.

I've lived here for 10 years and they've had a project every year to improve the apartments in some way. The staff is awesome, great amenities, and good size apartments.

This amazing complex is a wonderful place to live. We love being on the lake, with outstanding views and great atmosphere. Thanks so much for making our house a home!

Really beautiful views of the lake. Every time I have guests over they compliment the view. Also very pet friendly. 10/10 recommend Old Farm Shores to friends and family!

I recently moved out by myself and that alone can be a worry, but so much anxiety was diminished by being welcome into the community and having it be full of such pleasant people! my studio apartment is perfectly sized for me to make it my own space and still have friends come and visit now and again. i couldn’t have found a better community to move into, especially for my first time.

I have lived here for a year now. I love how helpful the staff are. They are very responsive. I love the lakes and the wildlife it brings. I feel safe and comfortable here. They really care about their residents.

We have a townhouse and its a decent price for the space and scenery around us. Just our current neighbors, the condition we came into and problems we had before aren’t completely worth how much we pay.

We have loved living here! Such a peaceful area, pretty views, right by Kent Trails, and not far from East Grand Rapids. The apartment itself is cozy and very easy to manage. Also very affordable. The offices are super responsive and welcoming!

This is my first time living on my own and every part of the experience has been easy and pleasant. Maintenance has always come out immediately, the office staff is very friendly, the pool, clubhouse, and grilling area are all well-kept. The environment is clean and very peaceful. I would recommend to anyone.

There are tons of great things about this place. The convenient app, the quick service when something happens (not often, don't worry), and the team is always helpful. It's a gorgeous property and the neighbors are all nice.

I haven’t had heat for over 7 days. I was told “heat isn’t an emergency here”. I was provided a space heater from the 70’s that is the biggest fire hazard ever. No communication. No care for your well being. This place is horrible. If you want to see the condition of an apartment at move in I can also share. Please people don’t waste your money or get sucked in to this place.

We moved here in 2013 from up north. Neither of us were excited to excited to move to the "city", but did so for jobs. When we found Old Farm Shores we immediately knew this is is it! The apartments feel like you are in a cabin in the woods, except you are actually super close to everything you need. So many beautiful trees, the ponds are beautiful and feel natural, lots of trails surrounding the property with deer and fox. The office employees are top notch, kind and helpful.Ans to top it off, this is a very dog friendly community which is awesome!

We love our little loft - having a view of the lake is great and it's very quiet even though we're in the city. Anytime we have a question or issue, the office and maintenance staff are quick to respond and help. We have really enjoyed living here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the Kentwood area!

Lived here for 3 months now, and nothing beats having a lake as your back yard. The 1 bedroom is a good size, and the size of the deck was a big plus. Office staff is always available and helpful, and the move in process was very smooth

I Am a recently new resident here. I am fearful to talk to anyone as everyone, including management, is extremely condescending.

I have been a longtime resident and I am impressed with the efforts that management has made (especially in the last couple years) to improve the community and make it worth the expense. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and love the amenities, particularly the nearby trails and being able to have my large dog (a lab). I do feel like they are still a bit pricey for area, and would like to see better lighting (for security) and better trash mgmt/upkeep, but overall am very happy as a resident and would recommend this complex to others.

DO NOT LIVE HERE I have now lived here for 3 months and have had nothing but trouble. When I first moved in my balcony was so unsteady that when you stepped out on it the whole thing would rock back and forth. Maintenance came and said they would look into seeing what they could do to stabilize. Heard nothing back so I reached back out and office management came and told me it was fine (even though it was clearly unstable and maintenance agreed it needed to be fixed). Only after threatening to call the city was it fixed. The A/C would not get below 78, just continuously ran for 3 straight days until maintenance came and said it's just as good as those units will do. Told me to keep my blinds shut and close some vents so the other vents would blow harder. Fixed nothing. I gave up and bought a portable unit because it was cheaper and more effective to run than the central air. Buzzer to get in corroded and would not work. Maintenance said all the buzzers here are like that because their old. Fixed nothing. Hot water heater leaked and drained right into the apartment below us. Got a new one but it goes to show how old and un-kept all their appliances are. Then my boyfriends car (who is on the lease and lives here) is broken into. They told him over the phone that it was on him for leaving it unlocked. Come to find out they told the same thing to another individual who had their car broken into the same night. They will do nothing to make the community aware of this because they do not want the bad image. All of this is on top the units just being very poorly kept, no upkeep on parking lot, dead branches all over car ports, pool shut down because it was unsafe, whole summer with the outdoor kitchen out of commission, carpets full of stains, plaster cracking all over the ceilings and window frames. The office will give you whatever company line they are told and do not care about anything else. Do not believe the pictures. They do not deserve your money. Cannot wait until my lease is up so I can finally feel safe again.

Pay a arm and leg for a decent apartment. Pass on this one! My car was broken into and my storage unit. Poor lighting and a bad neighborhood were the factors. Rent raises every year and the management is of poor quality.

I met Chris when I toured the property. She made me feel at home and knew exactly what I was looking for. Allison and the office staff were always a pleasure. It's a fantastic sign when office staff lives onsite. Trust me, this place is the best in the area. Apply for the waitlist and be patience, it's worth it. Less than a 5 minute drive to Horrocks Just minutes to Target, Meijer and Chick Fil A (chipotle recently opened too!) M6 down he street Easy shopping at Woodland Mall and Centerpoint Tanger Outlet is a 10 minute drive Kent trail is onsite Free gym membership! Layouts are spacious and priced just right. Get creative with the space and call it home. I would have lived here for a while if I didn't move out of town.

Unfortunately we were always left disappointed. Our experience here was not good. Everything was very chaotic and unorganized from prior to move in until even after we broke our lease to move out. The paperwork was wrong so many times, I caught multiple errors and had them redo the lease, and then they even contacted us after move in to tell us they forgot to charge us for things. Money was "lost" and then "found" again and applied to the wrong places on our account, so we used our deposit half way through our lease towards our rent payment because it said we had a credit! I even got a phone call saying we had a credit on our account, but after move out I am told that conversation went differently then I recall. The office staff is nice, they are probably good people who are just very unorganized and need to call corp for any and every answer. Our carport which was supposed to be rebuilt apparently, collapsed on top of our vehicles and others that were underneath on Christmas eve. We never saw the deductible back that we had to pay to total out our car, which I was told I should have gotten back. The dog park is full of poop all the time, and even around the property there is poop everywhere. We have a dog and I picked up so much poop that was not his, just to try to keep our area clean. This place will probably be more of a headache then it is worth, that is how I feel. There were so many chances the staff had to fix issues and own up to all the mistakes they made but they are never held accountable. We are good tenants and have been told so at every place we ever lived, even here they put it on our letter they sent when I found out they had no record of our security deposit. I felt like I was always calling and trying to fix issues that should not have even been issues to begin with. This could be such a great place to live, but with how unorganized and chaotic it is, and then they don't make the issue better, and again even after move out, left with a terrible disappointing taste in our mouths from living here. Its very unfortunate.

*****don't move here****** I have lived here for 4 months. The first month here at the pool. A guy was caught masturbating to kids. The police went on a wild chase. My truck was vandalized and many other cars. My apt was broken into from the slider. The neighbors car was stolen from here, and guess what. By another tenant. Some of my neighbors have teathers on and smoke weed outside. Makes me and my guess feel very uncomfortable. The spiders in my apt are huge and never go away. My dog was bit by a spider in here and had to stay at the vet due to the outbreak of the spider. Trash diggers and pickers always here.

My boyfriend, 4 year old Labrador, and I live here. It's perfect for us. We have the Kent trails behind our apartment complex to take our dog on walks, and also the dog park so he can run freely. They have a ton of amenities and feels more like a home than an apartment. Chris was our leasing agent and she was great to work with and very personable. I highly suggest if you prefer a quiet neighborhood in the city, you choose old farm shores.

The area is well mixed with different types of people and the area is generally pretty peaceful. The staff is super friendly, they wave and smile every time the see you. (It's like freakin' Disney World out here.) The apartments range from really simple but nice to full amenities and make your friends jealous . It's kinda a woodsy area but it's located perfectly, malls and shops near by but your kinda of tucked away so you don't have all the hustle and bustle of living so conveniently. As for the complex, there is a pool, dog park (yes they allowed your furry BFF's ), lakes everywhere and a nature trail that runs behind the complex. They don't play about making sure everyone is doing as they should. And if you have any issues just bring it up and they will do what they can to resolve it. And if all that doesn't tickle your fancy well there are always refreshments in the leasing office....yup I said it snacks.. free snacks. Old Farm shores is a yes in my book.

Quiet and friendly neighborhood. Could use more lighting outside. Like the fishing. I have never had an issue with office staff or maintainance. Always treated with professional respect. Lucky to have quiet neighbors who moved here for the same reason we did- lakeside living. Nice feeling to relax at end of day.
