On the west side of Baltimore, extending along the Patapsco River and with Patapsco Valley State Park extending along its west side, Catonsville provides a picturesque setting just minutes from the city. Catonsville is a college town, home to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the Community College of Baltimore County. Frederick Road serves as Catonsville's main street, lined with historic architecture and containing a variety of shops, art galleries, restaurants, and other businesses.
Catonsville is home to several great destinations and landmarks. Hilton, built in 1825, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion is located on what was known as "Taylor's Forest," first surveyed in 1678. Today, it is part of Patapsco Valley State Park, and the Hilton Area Hike Start is located off Hilltop Road. UMBC is home to the Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall, a performing arts venue.

Property Ratings at Old Orchard
Worst of the worst place this is now cuz of the management, acento does nothing, no one calls you back from them if you have issues. Rent is sky high with no pool/gym etc. They only care for YOUR hard earned money that they will take no matter what. Manager doesn’t know how to deal with any issues either and somehow always in meetings when try to reach her.
Management is straight up negligent. Acento and Old Orchard do not protect any of their residents, their packages or their vehicles. They don't fix anything or clean the neighborhood in a timely manner. There is trash everywhere because the community does not enforce it's own policies. Corporate is completely unresponsive and so is upper management. You will waste your money living here and won't feel safe. Evicted residents trespass regularly and threaten current residents. Your rent will go up without any upgrades (in fact, the neighborhood has downgraded significantly over the past year).
Living there used to be good but it's gone down the drain lately since new management came in. They don't fix anything and will cause massive issues when you leave the apartment and charge you random fees and send to collections within weeks while you are trying to work it out. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
Old Orchard apartments are nice and neighbor friendly. The location is ideal for living, we got Walmart, Giant, gas stations, fast foods, auto mechanics, and banks and ATM s nearby. The environment is nature friendly surrounded by the trees and mini forest. Coming inside, the rooms and bathrooms are average size and the apartment is always well maintained by the management. The kitchen has electric stoves with the dishwasher; everything is electric. there is no gas and only the water(not hot water) and sewerage bill is included in the rent. The laundry is in the apartment. The two things that I do not like is that it is not allowed to grill outside the apartment and the rent payment office is in Ellicot City (recently they introduced online payment).
My husband and I recently moved in to Old Orchard Apartments in Catonsville. Even though we haven't lived here very long, it's leaps and bounds better than our previous apartment in the same area. The leasing agent Alyssa was very flexible with us from the beginning. She prepared all the paperwork for us for the apartment while we were in California and made our move from the opposite coast so much less stressful. She's been professional and kind from our very first day, and she's an absolute sweetheart! What we love about Old Orchard: - We live in a 1 bedroom unit with den and it is huge. We have too much space and we absolutely love it! We have so many closets and extra shelving throughout the apartment. All of the rooms are huge and very open! We love that the kitchen has ample counter and cupboard space. It also has open floor space, perfect for extra shelves for storage, and two entrances, one that goes directly into the dining room. There are so many electrical outlets for us to use, a definite plus in an area that has older apartments. - One of the best things is that we have our own laundry room in the unit that comes with its own shelving units. I absolutely love that I don't have to leave my apartment to do laundry anymore! - We also have a balcony that gives us a nice view of the woods behind the complex. Being adjacent to a wooded also results in a nicer, quieter area. - Free and ample parking. Not a day has gone by that I haven't found a parking spot in front of my unit. - One of the best parts is that the location of Old Orchard is really convenient. It's literally next to an Asian supermarket/shopping plaza, and across the street from a Giant food store and a Walmart. We're also within walking distance of an Aldis, several restaurants, different retail stores, and banks. It's within a mile of 695 and a Sam's Club as well and close to historic downtown Catonsville and Ellicott City. It's definitely one of the biggest perks not having to drive or even walk far to get our shopping done! - One downside is that all of our appliances - refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and washer and dryer - are quite old. They work great though, demonstrating that the maintenance work has been done well! If they break, there's no doubt that maintenance will do right by us. - The closet doors in the bedroom and den are also metal, which personally for me affects the aesthetics of the apartment. It's a wonderful place to live!
