There’s an unmistakable charm to Springfield, a city that exudes the allure of a small town while housing nearly 115,000 residents. Blending modern conveniences with a historic atmosphere, the capital city of Illinois — and birthplace of President Abraham Lincoln — is a compelling Midwest metropolis for renters of all types.
Aside from its presidential history, Springfield is full of culinary delights and entertainment destinations. Cozy Dog Drive-In alleges to have made the first corn dog in 1946, and it’s always a popular spot. Enjoy the shops at White Oaks Mall, fun at Knight’s Action Park, and plenty of breweries just north of the city center. There’s a number of parks and excellent educational opportunities, including the University of Illinois Springfield. The city comes together to enjoy annual events like the Illinois State Fair and more.

I enjoy the people the biew and they accept pets too. When somwthing needs fixed tjey fix it right away. I would refer my family and friends to live here.
I have only lived here a month. I found bed bugs in one of the baseboards when I moved in and it took them three weeks to have someone "spray" once, which if you know anything about bed bugs, isn't anywhere near enough to actually get rid of them. Now I am afraid to put anything in that bedroom. When I came in and looked around for the first time at my new apartment I cried. The bathtub was clogged, nobody had cleaned at all and there were crumbs on the counters, dirt on the floors, and a hair in the medicine cabinet. A piece of my ceiling that someone had removed in order to ostensibly do maintenance on the air conditioner was lying on the floor when I moved in. I ask almost every other day if someone can come and nobody does. The final straw is now my air conditioner is broken in the middle of summer. It is literally 90 degrees in my house right now and I am sweating just sitting here. They said they would fix it last week. The smell of weed and cigarettes always comes up though the vents. The stair areas outside the apartment doors are disgusting and nobody ever cleans them. When I go to the office to tell them something else is wrong they always type something in to the computer and say they are "putting it on the list". The women in the office are so nice but the apartment as a whole is just horrendous. I wish I never moved into this place. Please don't move here. There are so many places in Springfield with cheap rent that are very nice. Especially renting something like the bottom floor of a house as opposed to an apartment complex. After this experience I am literally never going to live in an apartment complex again.
love my landlords at Olde Towne and can't believe all the negative reviews! My husband and I have renting from them for four years and have had nothing but positive--and prompt--interactions with the staff. Especially Sadie! Love her! The maintenance staff here is amazing, I once had an issue with my faucet leaking underneath in the cabinets. They came over right away and fixed it. The size of my apartment was amazing for the price I was paying! Overall, I would rent from here again!
This place is horrible. I lived her for 2 years and they upped my rent every time, but updated nothing in the apartment. My am I paying a higher rent with nothing to show for it. Everything was built in the 70s and it shows. They obviously don't care who they rent to because my upstairs neighbors apartment was raided and then had a heroin overdose the same week. It constantly smells like weed. The people up front are NO HELP. I put money in a drop box for rent one time and they put a note on my door saying I owe $50 for late fee. If you don't want people to use the drop box, get rid of it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I would 2 years ago if you wanted a cheap place to live, but it's not even that anymore. It's a high rent place with nothing to show for it. I couldn't wait to tell them I wasn't renewing my lease. DONT DO IT. MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Where to begin...if you're in a tight spot then this will do until you can get into something else. I'll try to keep this concise. The property is dilapidated, it was built in the 70s and I honestly think many of the appliances and finishings are original. After 40 plus years of tenants you can imagine how they've faired. I think they must have insulated with 100 thread count sheets, because my electric bill was $400 at peak, our level payment was $150 a month. Insanity! Outlets are so old and worn that when you plug something in, it literally falls out of the socket! My upstairs toilet was leaking so badly I had black mold all over my downstairs bathroom. I called and called and called and never got the issues taken care of. When I wrote an email to the parent company they finally addressed it the next day. My tub has a crack in it that they never addressed, but it was so hard to get the other things taken care of, I didn't bother. I could drone on but hopefully you get the point... I feel bad for the maintenance guys, there are two of them to keep up with all of the issues in a aged and deteriorating complex...it's a recipe for failure. The management is horrible. It's snowed twice this year and iced significantly once, they have NEVER done anything to the parking lot or sidewalks. I had to buy my own salt to do my sidewalk. I set up a plan with the manager to take care of some late fees(I know, I know...)she said she noted it in my file, she then proceeded to perform an inspection of the apartment to "make sure it was rentable" since I was behind and called to find out when I was going to get my account current. I literally had a conversation with her days before about paying the fees by the end of the month! Once paid, they couldn't find record of my check, which they cashed... I know this seems lengthy but I assure you, it's the tip of the iceberg! No one forced me to live here, but I can tell you, if you don't have to come here, then don't!
The maintenance and management are garbage. In June/July my AC went out and I went straight to the office to let them know. They said they would put me on a waiting list and it took two weeks for them to even check it out. Only about a month later in August, the AC was broken again. I called the first day I noticed it not blowing air again at 9:00 am. I called again at 11:00 to check the status and still no one had come. Called again at 3:00pm and asked if someone planned on taking care of this today and the woman in the office said she would call maintenance to see where they were. After 4:00 I called one last time and they said it would be first thing in the morning they would come. Still have yet to see them. Also, they told me my apartment was renovated just before I moved in and they definitely didn't hire professionals for the job considering my boyfriend found a heroin needle on top of the cabinets a few months after I moved in. I would NEVER recommend moving here. Garbage. Complete garbage.
I really enjoyed living in this area, but I don't like certain people who work in the office. I also don't like the fact that my electric bill was $300 during the winter months. Everything in my apartment was electric, so I understand it being high. But when my apartment temperature was set at 60 degrees all winter, we never used our dishwasher, and we didn't have a washer/dryer, yet our electric bill was through the roof? I didn't like that. Overall, the apartmemt was nice, big, and spacious, but would I resign my lease with this complex? The answer, for me, would be no.
