Property Ratings at One University Circle
This happened to me last year. The manager promised me with one bedroom but when I arrived at the property, it was a studio with the same rate. The manager said I could choose either from moving to one bedroom but with a much higher rate or stay where I was - disappointment, frustration, and such unprofessionalism. Also during the process of finding a solution, the manager’s attitude was unbelievable. She behaved in a way that it was my mistake and she was just trying to help me figure things out. I can’t believe such a nice property like this place hired such ignorant and unprofessional employees. People at OUC, please don’t deny what happened to me and how you treated me during 14 days of my stay. I am willing to share my email communications with them if anyone wants for validity

Thank you for this feedback. Upon recognizing our oversight about your desired floorplan, our team immediately apologized and began evaluating a solution. In addition to terminating your lease contract, all monies including the deposit were refunded, and we offered to help move your belongings. We understand that this situation was frustrating, but our employees maintained a pleasant and empathetic attitude throughout every interaction. We'll be using this experience as a way to improve in the future and truly apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 216-282-9070 or email one@villagegreen.com. Sincerely, the One University Circle Management Team
PROS: Walking distance to both Cleveland Clinic and CWRU Well-furnished lounges on both 5th and 20th floor lounges (great view), great for hosting large groups Great pool, grills, and gym Hardwood floors and good kitchen appliances Friendly and competent maintenance staff Heated garage dog-friendly CONS: Fan is loud: turn it on during your tour to hear for yourself OUC raised my rent 7% in one year Utilities bill is ~$200/month for 2bed not including internet Mice were found in multiple units on the 3rd floor, mouse traps were permanently present in my unit for the remainder of my stay high staff turnover: at least 3 property managers in 2 years In Summer 2018, garage door didn’t close overnight, unlocked cars were broken into, and locked cars had doors jiggled. After reporting the incident to management, they did not notify the apartment community. The lack of transparency is astonishing. My visitor’s car was totaled due to flooding in the side visitor lot. Multiple cars were waterlogged and severely damaged and totaled. The management did not notify residents of the flash flood warning beforehand despite flooding in the University Circle area in the past. Management also did not notify residents that their visitors’ cars may be flooded. There is a large visitor lot on the East side that would not flood, but is always empty because OUC charges $25/day to park there. My visitor tried to open the balcony door on the 20th floor lounge, the handle snapped, and we left the handle on the lounge table. The management later charged me $500 for a total replacement of the door. The accusation was “excessive force”, which I tried to dispute because we were obviously not maliciously vandalizing, but rather the handle was assembled poorly. I had to pay for their faulty construction when OUC should have. Faulty construction in units too: when I moved in my window screen fell off when I tried to open the window. Thank goodness they didn’t charge me $500 for that one too. Walls not sound-proof, can hear conversations from adjacent unit

Hello, Shannon. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us here at One University Circle. As a team that strives to provide our valued residents with exceptional, one of a kind rental experiences, we're disheartened to hear that we have not ensured your satisfaction. Our monthly rental amounts fluctuate each year to adapt to the current market, and our pricing falls in line with similar communities in the Cleveland area. If at any time our residents are experiencing excessive noise, or have questions regarding maintenance or utilities, we encourage them to reach out to our team so we can address them promptly and with care. After reviewing our records, we're unable to verify that any cars in the garage were broken into in 2018, but rest assured, we take these concerns very seriously and will encourage our residents to report any suspicious activity to us. Lastly, the decision to charge you and your guests for the door replacement came after watching video footage of the event, and determining that excessive force was used. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your concerns with us further, our community Property Manager, Nathan W., can be reached at (216) 282-9070 or email onepropmgr@villagegreen.com. Sincerely, the One University Circle Management Team
Me and my boyfriend had just relocated to Cleveland for work and moving is stressful. But the staff at One University Circle has made our move seamless. We didn't have a chance to tour the property before we got into town so I honestly didn't expect it to be as beautiful as the photos that I was sent. But we were wrong, it is hands down the most beautiful building we have ever seen. Not only are you in WOW when you walk in with the building but the staff is right there waiting for you with a huge smile. They made everything so easy for us, from helping with our late night move in to making us coffee (the lounge has a coffee bar!! Who needs Starbucks when I can get coffee without stepping foot outside) We are most excited about using the rooftop pool and community garden this spring /summer. We have lived in many states and this is probably our 5th apartment in the last few years (due to work opportunities) but when we walked into our apartment we finally knew we were home. Thank You so much to the staff and if you haven't checked out One University Circle yet I would call them today before it is to late!
Not worth the rent at all. Awful living experiences. The management team likes to argue with tenants instead of solving problem. They might have some misunderstandings of good customer service and luxury apartment. At least my satisfaction is not a thing to them.

Living experience was not as we expected. We’ve been living here for three months, yet there have been many problems. Two of the drawers weren’t installed properly; microwave’s light went out already, which according to the manager that it’s been a year and half since it was installed. For real? We lived in another apartment for three years and the microwave had no problem at all. Not to mention that the trash chute. We’ve never seen the trash chute been filled up to the third floor. And the manager here thought it’s normal since no one works over the weekend. What a luxury place. And just like the other reviewers mentioned, there’s no securities out side of the building. Innova has securities outside the building patrolling all the night. We want to transfer to a higher unit, so that we won’t see a clogged trash chute. Other residents have successfully transferred within two weeks, but according to a policy just came up, we can’t transfer until we have lived 6 months. It’s like a policy specially made for us. How flattered. The thing is that the management team really treated people so differently that make us feel so uncomfortable. One more thing to mention. Maintenance guys are really good themselves. However it seems like they didn’t get the order in a timely manner? There was no hot water at all on the first night we moved in. I went to the concierge, and I was told to wait for about 45 minutes. It was around 2:00 in the morning, and we waited until 3:30 am but no one showed up. We were too tired to wait, after the whole day of moving stuff. YET the maintenance guy came to knock on our door at 6:00 am. We were exhausted, but we have to get up. What about EMERGENCY SERVICE you guys promised? I could wait until the next day for the hot water to be fixed, just don't tell me it could be fixed within 45 minutes. Everything that’s not as promised is not a big deal to the management team. They think as long as the problem was fixed(no matter how it was fixed and how long it took), there won’t be any problem and therefore we won’t be and shouldn’t be bothered at all. Just don’t pay such money to get an apartment that you have to keep requesting maintenance.

I moved in a month ago and I currently live here and while there are many pros to living here, there are also some significant cons. The building is absolutely beautiful and the location is excellent. However, my main issues are with the security and the property management. At first, I was really impressed by the security, but after a few weeks of living here, I am a little more concerned. The concierge or security guard is supposed to be at the desk 24/7 but most of the time, I find that is not the case. Plus, they only answer the phone half of the time and when they don't, the voicemail box is full and you can't leave a message. My bike seat was stolen last week because my bike was parked in the racks located in back of the building. I kept my cool about my bike seat being stolen as it was an easy fix, but one of the concierges made a snide remark about how another girl got her bike stolen from the front of the building and how *she* didn't make a big deal out of it. The reason I parked my bike outside was that the bike room lights aren't working. Plus, all of the wheelchair access buttons that are supposed to automatically open the doors are out of order. I've brought up these concerns to the staff a few times and every time I get a vague response about how it will take a few weeks. So now I'm hesitant to park my bike outside because of my theft experience, but I also have a hard time parking my bike in the bike room. The maintenance employees themselves are very nice, but my luck with getting repairs done is iffy. When I first moved in, we didn't have hot water, a part of the sink was missing, the shower door didn't close, the shower lights turn off while you're showing, and the air filter was very dirty. They fixed the hot water issue the night I moved in but the sink and the shower door took almost two weeks. The air filter was fixed a few hours after I reported it. The shower light still doesn't work and turns off sporadically. I have mixed feelings about the office staff. I have had multiple experiences where I have received attitude from the office staff. Often times, instead of offering to help, they seem to be more interested in arguing with you. I'm still willing to give the place a chance because I really do like the building and my apartment. For the price I am paying, the building lives up to my expectations, but the management and the security definitely do not.

Hello, and thank you for sharing your feedback. We value you as a resident and we thank you for choosing to make our community your home. Our goal is to provide our residents with best in class customer service and an exceptional rental experience. Our team has been working diligently to ensure your satisfaction. Per our email communications and in-person meetings, we do have a concierge in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, and security overnight. We welcome residents to call the Concierge line directly at (216) 762-0008, if assistance is needed. If the Concierge steps away from the desk to assist a resident, a sign is posted with their cell line at (248) 508-0991. In the near future, all lines will be merged and the calls will be automatically forwarded to the cell line when they are away from the desk. The bike storage room is meant for bikes only, and is in a secured location inside of our building, with no public access. We do acknowledge that the sensor for the light in the bike storage room needs to be moved, and we are working diligently with our ownership and contractors to have that adjusted. Our onsite Concierge and security team are available to help assist in putting your bike away at any time, until the light is repaired. We also do acknowledge that our wheelchair access buttons are precarious, and we are working with our construction team to have new circuit boards installed. We are also working with them on the shower lights and we will keep you apprised of when this matter is expected to be resolved. We do sincerely apologize for a less than perfect experience, and we thank you for submitting your work order to us. Our service team works monday-friday and tends to emergencies 24/7, which is why they restored your hot water on the same day it was reported. Non-emergency work orders submitted on the weekends are responded to on the next business day (Monday), at which time we replaced your air filter, inspected your sink/shower door and ordered the necessary part. The sink part arrived the very next day when we repaired your sink and shower door. It was not our intention to cause any inconvenience regarding your rent check. This was 100% our clerical error, which was addressed and resolved immediately. Our goal is to ensure your satisfaction and improve your experience, and we appreciate your continued follow up and cooperation with our team. Our corporate area director would like to reach out to you directly to further confirm your satisfaction. I invite you to reach out to me in the future and I will make sure to assist you with anything you may need. I can be reached in the management office at 216-282-9070 or onepropmgr@villagegreen.com. Thank you, Anna R., Property Manager
Simple: incredibly overprices for what? Nothing that stands out is found here for that price. If you work at CWRU, CCF/UH, CMA, CIA, CIM then you will be close to work, great you can stare at your place of work. You also have to pay $200 for a garage where free parking is plentiful. You are right next to Hayes so difficult times getting around between 7:30-8:30am and 2:00-3:30pm are inevitable. There is a rooftop deck, that is nice. There is a pool but to pay like $500 more a month in the case of a studio for a pool in Ohio is insanity. Heated parking is nice, but not for $200. ~$1.5k - 1.8k/mth for a ~600 sqft studio or $~2.0-2.6k/mth for a one-bedroom you must be puffing the magic dragon. If that was all utilities included, a giant jacuzzi, super amenities, etc I would say why not but here is what is boils down to aside from the above, this is University Circle. Downtown can pull this off at that price but for what is offered in University Circle it is absurd. My advice, move downtown so you can enjoy life and not be right next to where you work if you do work in the area. I can just imagine since my previous three reviews have disappeared, this is the kind of place that will have a hundred thousand rules and charge exorbitant amounts for anything i.e. hanging curtains over the floor to ceiling windows that have only a thin mesh to block out light if you want to darken your unit.
