Property Ratings at Overlook at Murrayhill Apartments
Building is old and falling apart. Lots of gaps on doors and windows. Spiders and all kinds of bugs easily crawl in. Manager in this complex is extremely unprofessional and greedy. They are renting out units that are not ready to be occupied. Prior tenant's stuff are left in the covers which made it apparent that they are not getting the unit professionally cleaned after a tenant move out. Yes, they will be all friendly with you until you question why you are being charged for damages you did not cause. Then you will see how rude and unprofessional Tiffany truly is. There are plenty of other apartment in this area. Would never recommend Overlook Apartment to anyone.
We have literally lived here for years! From the neighborhood, to our community, to the maintenance staff, to the office staff, it all is the BEST. This is coming from a person who has lived in multiple apartments throughout the years, this place is hands down my favorite.
Two years of being a model tenant thrown out the window by shoddy and unprofessional management. Emergency intrusion made while I was at work to shut a window that wasn't open or in any danger of leaking for a power washing that didn't occur, damaging the AC unit in the process and endangering the lives of my pets during one of the hottest days of the year. When attempting to elicit any sort of apology or explanation for the aforementioned invasion, and to remind them once again that the abusive ex also named in one of the voicemails they left had, in fact, moved out eighteen months prior, I was repeatedly cut off, talked down to, and dismissed without any hint of conciliatory behavior or even acknowledgement that the handling of the situation was less than ideal. Instead was told (despite having a completely contraindicative conversation with the same agent not four months prior) that the pets in question needed to be approved and added to the lease and never had been - again, just a few months after a conversation with the same woman where we confirmed that small rodents didn't need to go through the same process as a cat. My fault for not holding her to that in writing, apparently - and my fault for expecting anything more than to be repeatedly interrupted, condescended to, and be furnished with ultimatums. Apparently prior issues with their service and ability to process payments properly were things I should have paid closer to attention to. In all fairness, their maintenance staff is absolutely exceptional, and very prompt and professional with their solutions. Just do not give management the time of day - they may seem like they care, but at the first issue, they will rake you over the coals with zero consideration for you as an individual.
I have lived here for a little over a year and have to say I really like the Overlook at Murrayhill. It's a smaller complex than some of its other neighbors and that's what makes it appealing. It's quiet and close to a lot of things; bus stops, grocery store, gyms, mall and parks. The grounds are well maintained and the management company continues to keep up the apartments as well. The layouts for the apartments are smiple, good size master bedroom but great master bedroom closet if you like clothes and need the space. Only two small things that I would make a comment on; the kitchen is a little older but works well and the apartment does not have air conditioning, although 98% of the time a fan will suffice. Overall the management seems friendly every time I have gone into the office and the one or two times I asked maintenance about something they were very responsive. It's a cozy little place I call home.
...you move out. I cleaned the apartment (with photographs) before moving out, spent an extra day just to ensure it was done. Two months later I'm hit with $330 fee for carpets, even after they ate my $250 deposit. I understand if the apartment was dirty, but it wasn't. Regardless, the fact is: I leased a two bedroom apartment from the Overlook at Murrayhill for two years, paying $1150 a month. You would assume that that includes wear and tear on an apartment. As such, I would have hoped they would have been fine with my $27,600 over that time period and that it was necessary to dip their hand in my pocket on the way out. This was not the case. For me this is an example of caring more about profits than customers. I wish I could have been writing a different review of my time their, but this last bit left a bad taste in my mouth. Other aspects: -Parking is enforced irregularly, often times not at all. Cars would part in front of garages, trash bins, behind cars, etc frequently -Median resident seemed to be 55 in age -Early lawn service (7:00am) -Bad traffic -Speed bumps, speed bumps, speed bumps -Great mail carrier, so much spam mail -Without fireplace for winter due to smoke drafting into top apartment -- forced to not use, office told us it would be fixed, but delayed for a month
For years, The Overlook at Murrayhill was a great place to live. The rates were reasonable, the neighbors friendly and the staff responsive. Recently, the rents were increased at ridiculous rates some as much as $180 a month. Many older residents on fixed incomes couldn't absorb these insane increases and were forced to leave. The best of the office and maintenance staff left for greener pastures leaving those who don't seem to care. The buildings are deteriorating but with the huge turnover, maintenance must tend to vacant apartments not structural repairs. What used to be a wonderful place to live is now going downhill day by day. Uncaring staff, deteriorating buildings and increasing rents make The Overlook at Murrayhill a bad bet. There are great apartments in Murrayhill - keep looking - many current residents are.
this place is going down the drain. water leak, un-safe banisters (wood is spongy needs to be replaced). Windows are drafty, Jacuzzi looks dirty needs a paint job. Management don't care when you bring up concerns. Overall this place is in desperate need of an upgrade and renovation
