Copperfield may be small, but this compact area is considered one of Austin’s hottest neighborhoods. Copperfield is located in northeast Austin, about 10 miles from downtown. The U-shaped southern border of Copperfield is framed by green space – the Walnut Creek Greenbelt meets Copperfield Park, providing miles of hiking trails, lakes, and creeks.
Wide, tree-lined streets framed by sidewalks wind through the residential areas that are filled with bungalows and ranch-style homes. Residents can commute to downtown or to the University of Texas at Austin via I-35 or by bus – the neighborhood provides ample bus stops throughout. As Copperfield is mainly residential, residents travel outside the neighborhood for most of their shopping and dining. There are a few shops, restaurants, and businesses located off Parmer Lane, including a CVS Pharmacy and a Dollar General.

Property Ratings at Oxford at Tech Ridge
Save yourself time and money and DO NOT live here. It is the absolute worst and there’s nothing you can do about it honestly. The cost may seem ideal in the beginning but trust me you will be out of more money from extra charges to getting towed and they will never accommodate you. Valet trash is a joke. Their trash situation is always a mess. The gates are typically broken. There was a shooting in the complex in 2021 which I feel could’ve been prevented had the gates been working. The staff could not be more detached from the residents. You try to follow their rules only for them to wiggle out of accountability in the end. I bought a brand new 2023 Kia while I was visiting my family in Mississippi and drove it back to tech ridge on a Saturday. Obviously the office was closed so registered everything make/model/year/color/vin. The only detail I could not register was the tag # because Mississippi does not give temporary tags. I even went further and called the emergency line at tech ridge, (which no one answered) but I left a voicemail telling them I bought i new car and I registered it as best I could. But of course my car was towed! I sent them proof of me registering my car and how I had no temporary tag because my car was out of state. They basically told me it was the towing company’s problem and that they wouldn’t reimburse me. Typical! The basketball goal is usually broken and their gym door is weird, I saw many people be deterred from working out because they couldn’t get through the door. I had to personally make them come from out of the office and show us how to get into the gym. Lastly, my shower had mold because the caulking was poorly done and when you move out you better have lots of cash. They told us we could paint an accent wall, and when we move out just ask maintenance for a sample paint so we can paint it back before we move out. Well tech ridge would never give us a sample of the paint so we just tried to match it on our own at home depot. Didn’t matter. Be prepared to be charged with everything under the sun. Especially the things you asked them to fix during your stay. It will be on your bill after you move out. Just don’t bother with this place y’all!
I rented here for two years. First day we arrived the apartment was flooded and they didn’t clean up the mess. It took us fighting with them to remove the mold in the closet. When we left they charged us our deposit and a 1500 dollar termination fee we paid and they still put an eviction on our credit. I have tried to get them to return my call or resolve this issue so I can get another apartment they refuse to answer. Worst mistake of my life trusting them.
Cockroaches, poor resident support, dirty common grounds, buildings in poor repair, theft, broken security gates, dog poop everywhere. Please do not rent here, you will be better off spending slightly more to live in a newer property in the area.
Amazing— I didn’t think I could write a one-Star review about anyone ever.... until now. Let’s start with the basic complaints— the parking is absolutely terrible, the other tenants are uncomfortably inconsiderate and dirty, no one picks up after their dogs (half the time the dog waste stations are out of bags, even though management swears they will provide bags). If you have a garage, don’t even think about ever actually being able to park in your garage peacefully without being blocked in. It’s one way to get to know your neighbors, I guess? Moving in? While I don’t suggest it, I understand that is freakin expensive to live in Austin so you just might have to...... make sure you don’t have a roommate with a common name or you’ll probably learn that they are a criminal (they won’t though don’t worry) because the office doesn’t actually pay attention to what they put in for background checks. Godspeed y’all. What about moving out? What if you’re like SUPER clean and take really great care of things? Forget about it— these guys are going to do whatever they can to get a couple hundred bucks out of you. Like, claim you’ve broken an appliance that definitely was not broken when you left— and then refuse to show you more than a very unclear photo (don’t even dare ask for a walkthrough, your unit was probably magically already leased like 4 days after you moved out!) I am genuinely disappointed in my experience here, and I am thrilled to be done dealing with this complex and management company. There are so many other options in the Tech Ridge, please choose one of those if you value your sanity.
I am really glad I chose Oxford at Tech Ridge! I had a lot of options to choose from in North Austin. This was the best fit in terms of price, location and size of apartment. I love my apartment! It is very quiet and my apartment is beautiful. The girls in the office, Yvonne, Valerie and Jennifer were awesome! They walked me through the process and had me approved in 24 hours! I've only been here a couple months, but it's been great so far!
Some neighbors like to leave their trash laying around outside their apartment. The parking lots usually have a good amount of beer cans, alcohol bottles, and fast food trash that ends up on someone's car on the weekend. The Valet trash service misses many collection days, and comes from 7pm to about 930pm depending on how they feel. If the gusts of wind don't topple your neighbor's trash bags into your door and leave grease streaks everywhere, consider yourself lucky. Try taking to your trash to the compactor in back and get a new sense of what a landfill looks like. Many residents have dogs that leave lots of dog mess in all the grassy areas and sidewalks. It's definitely not pleasant when walking after sunset. And don't forget the handful of people that decided to remove their mufflers and race down I-35 or Yager Ln at either 1am or 6 am (why not 10pm???). Overall not bad, but I think there's equally affordable places elsewhere.
Onalee was so welcoming and sweet. I viewed other apartments and her customer service is what sold me! This property will make my move to Austin pleasant.
OxFord has some great amenities, including a nice pool, 24 hour fitness center, grills, a dog park, and an indoor gym. They do a good job at keeping things neat and good looking. However, some amenities could use more attention. One of the pool gates still doesn't work, and I've never gotten any of the four grills to work (although it looks like they may have been fixed since then). Our apartment is very nice. Very modern and comfortable. It seems to be soundproofed, since we hardly ever hear any of our neighbors (including above us). The only noise we ever experience comes from the hallway outside, which echoes and can get a little loud. We've especially enjoyed having an in-apartment washer and dryer. There's also a good amount of storage space, with cheap storage closets and even garages for use. The internet connection is solid and fast. Maintenance can be a hit or miss; sometimes they fix things the same day, some times you have to wait a couple days. Usually they get it done in about 24 hours. I've heard some people complain about management, but I've never had a problem with anyone. They've always been nice and reasonable every time me or my wife had to talk with them. Overall, OxFord isn't perfect, but it's still been a great place to live. I'd recommend it.
