Property Ratings at Oxford Mills
-I would have opted for 3rd floor or at least not to be under a wood floor with no soundproofing. -I would have paid attention to the light (maybe an end unit) because I love to live with plants. -I did not know that a mixed use building meant no community. +Management is very responsive. +Architecture is lovely. +The building is kept very clean. +Coffee shop is a plus. +King are the parking lots...yes, lots. One for tenants and one for guests. +Location. El sound is minimal so why not my upstairs neighbor's bedroom? Every moan and sigh! My ideal would be to find a third floor end unit. Next to ideal would be the end unit next door for an easy move.
I'll start with the positive: The apartment is in a good location. It is close to public transportation and multiple bars/restaurants. Aesthetically it's pretty, the apartment has exposed brick and the original hardwood floor. That being said, I don't recommend this apartment building as a place to live. The building is a renovated textile mill, and as a result there are tons of sound transfer issues. I can hear all my neighbors to the extent it's like I'm sitting in a room with them. I can even hear the person above me when they take toilet paper off the roll. I can hear conversations in the apartments below/above me, and multiple tenants have expressed this issue as well. There are also giant holes in the hardwood floor where noise travels. And although the exposed brick is nice looking, it breaks off all the time and leaves dust. I've had chunks of the wall/brick fall off. In addition, there are quiet hours explicitly stated in the lease at 10:00 pm but they are not adhered to. There have been multiple issues with loud music, parties, and just noise overall. Big picture: good location, pretty, not worth the headache
Love this apartment. Complex is a converted dye factory into modern loft style apartments. Complex is less then 5 years old and everything is very much up to date. Apartment contains original wood flooring, exposed brick walls, exposed piping and air ducts, and high ceilings. All kitchen appliance are modern, along with in unit washer and dryer. The facility is have commercial (non-profit companies) East building and half residential West building. Within the residential side there is an outdoor lounge with firepits, communal areas with TV's, a basic gym in the basement, a on site yoga studio, and a one site cafe. Location is only a few blocks from the Market-Frankford Line, and a short walk to the nightlife of Northern Liberties and Fishtown.
