Sheer cliffs overlooking the ocean, a charming downtown, fantastic neighborhoods filled with elegant architecture, historic sites, tourist destinations -- there's no place quite like Monterey, and if you have the chance to move to this coastal California landmark, get ready for a fun-filled adventure!
Curved along Monterey Bay, this is the location of Cannery Row (made famous by the John Steinbeck novel), the stunning Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Monterey Zoo, Fishermans Wharf, Monterey State Historic Park, and Point Pinos Lighthouse -- the oldest lighthouse on the West Coast. This is also the location of the world-famous Pebble Beach Golf Club, California State University-Monterey Bay, and Fort Ord Dunes State Park (a gorgeous stretch of beach and bluffs with fantastic views).

Property Ratings at Pacific Pines
As the latest review wrote, this apartment complex did a remodel in 2019 which involved the replacement of water pipes/plumbing throughout the entire complex. I have been here for 9 months, and have not gone a single week without seeing one of the pipes springing a leak. The apartments are not worth what they are charging, and I see the one posting on here has had an increase of $200 in less than a year. Apart from the apartments themselves, the office worker is never present. Have an issue that you need to address with the office? Enjoy seeing a piece of paper on the office door saying it will be closed for the day. They will then put up a new piece of paper the following day saying the office will yet again be closed. The maintenance guy is a legitimate worker. I see him essentially everyday and he is desperately trying to perform maintenance on a crumbling apartment complex. Places like this can only exist due to the severe housing shortage in the Monterey area. Avoid this place, if you can.

We deeply apologize for your experience and would love to hear more about where we fell short. Please reach out to our office Monday to Friday. Thank you.
They did a superficial makeover when the new owners purchased this place last year, and everything just “looks” nice. We have to call maintenance at least once every two weeks. Broken sinks, gas leak on our heater, clogged drains, sewage smells, mold everywhere and a dryer that fills up with water every time our neighbor uses theirs...

I'm in the Navy and I've lived in apartments in Virginia, Florida, and now California. This is without a doubt the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT. I've been here for about 6 months and there is always noisy maintenance workers doing something. The latest project is a 4 day plumbing replacement where we can't even park in the car port and the water is turned off for 8-9 hours a day (btw I get a notice on the door a couple times month about having to turn the water off for the day. ). The time is now 11:34pm and I do not have hot water. Great. A couple months ago they did renovation in the apartments on both sides of mine. That's fine, but I did not even get a heads up. Just loud banging and the sounds of drilling for 4 weeks. Thanks. I signed the lease and understand there are rules. Certain rules are enforced and some aren't. The property is smoke-free (weed and tobacco). Even though I see people smoking cigarettes all the time. There is supposed to be no personal items in the car ports but I see BBQ grills and bikes in there all the time. It is impossible to get a hold of the property manager unless you walk in the office. The number for Pacific Pines forwards your call to the office in San Francisco or San Jose. They don't know anything about what's going on down here. Unfortunately I am under a 1 year lease. I can probably add to this when more things come to mind.
living in the Casanova grove complex has been ideal. Glenda and her husband Are the in complex landlords. They are very nice and accommodating about maintance requests. This complex offers town homes and apartments. Updated kitchens, double sliding windows to keep sound in and out. One designated cover carport and storage. This complex also accepts pets and has a pool. The landscape is always maintained with flowers. This complex is a short walk to Safeway and less than a 5 minute to the beach and fairgrounds. Townhomes come with washer dryer hookups and complex pays sewage and water.
