Fairhaven, a National Historic District, began as Fairhaven Village around 1880. It is located along Bellingham Bay on the southwest side of Western Washington University. Fairhaven is a terrific location for boaters, home to San Jan Cruises, Zodiac Sailing Schooner, and the Fairhaven Shipyard. Marine Park, located on the bay, includes a picnic area and a beach for launching kayaks. The Lower Padden Creek and Larrabee Trail leads from the park, through Fairhaven, and toward Larrabee State Park.
With its Victorian architecture, art galleries and boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and cafes, Fairhaven is a charming, fun-filled, walkable district. Fairhaven holds events year-round, including the Polar Bear Plunge at Birch Bay in January, the Recreation Northwest Expo in February, the Spring Craft & Antique Show in March, Bellingham Beer Week in April, to the Bellingham Festival of Music and the Northwest Raspberry Festival in July.

Property Ratings at Padden Creek
I lived here for several years. Here are my thoughts: Pros: The property is well-located for those who enjoy Fairhaven and the trails, with direct access to Fairhaven Park. The neighborhood is quiet and primarily inhabited by older residents. It's also conveniently close to a bus stop and WWU. Cons: The property is quite dated, with old appliances and minimal fixtures like plastic drawer pulls and basic bathtubs. The soundproofing is poor, making it easy to hear neighbors. (I could hear my neighbors sneeze and cough) The maintenance team is usually quick to resolve issues but often leaves dirt and debris behind and wears shoes inside without covers. Contacting property management is difficult, with messages and emails often going unanswered, requiring personal visits to the office. The units are overpriced with minimal upgrades, and amenities are lacking, with a non-functional sauna, frequently out-of-order hot tub, and a small pool shared between two properties. Another reviewer mentioned it as well, but I also experienced the moisture leak in the dryer due to poor ventilation setup. So that’s likely a property-wide issue.

Will not attend to maintenance issues. The buildings are old. Many apartments have water dripping in dryers when neighbors use their washers. Tenet reports ignored.
Because my tags expired and the new ones were lost in the mail. They just put a sticker on it, if I did not notice it they would have towed it. This is how they treat tenants who pay their rent every day on the first. In a pandemic no less!
Property Manager at Padden Creek, Responded To This Review
Dear Resident, we understand it is frustrating to receive a towing notice. Several other residents received the same notices, so it wasn't a personal situation. We have emailed all residents several times in the last 6 months to remind them to update their vehicle info and to be sure they are following the parking policies in the lease they have signed and agreed to. For future reference, if there is a delay in your renewal you can let us know and we’ll make a note in your file. There are several businesses in the Bellingham area you can walk in to renew your tabs, or of course you can go online to renew at dol.wa.gov and show us the receipt while you wait for them to come in the mail.
Despite paying my rent promptly on the first of the month for over 6 months they thought it would be fine to put a notice on my car saying they would tow it in 48 hours because my tags expired. My new ones were lost in the mail and it's a pandemic. They have my email and phone number but they couldn't be bothered to contact me. If I did not see the notice my car would have been towed. This is how they treat a paying tenant who never companied about anything.

We actually miss living there. My girlfriend and I lived in a one bedroom for almost years before I got transferred at work to Seattle. The office staff was always nice and our maintenance requests were taken care of promptly. I miss having the maintenance on site.(our new place in Seattle has a pager number you call and they don't always answer the same day). We enjoyed being so close to the Interurban trail so we could walk our puggle a couple times per day. We always had quiet neighbors and everyone seemed to like living there. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because there is only one free parking space and it wasn't right in front of our apartment.
