The far southwest suburbs of Dakota County sit roughly 25 miles from both downtown areas. Primarily families reside in this area, and they enjoy an affordable cost of living, well-planned neighborhoods and a short (half an hour in low traffic conditions) commute into the city.
In this expanse of the Twin Cities' urban fringe, residents have their choice of newly constructed homes on large lots or attractive apartments in large blocks with modern amenities. While parts of Dakota county overlap with St. Paul proper, the outer edges of the county still host farms and natural areas.

Property Ratings at Palomino East
My family and I just moved in last month and we have never been happier. Laura is so friendly, every time I come to the office she is smiley and so fun to chat with, and she is always on top of everything, that gal doesn’t miss a thing! Francisco is a wonderful maintenance guy with everything around here, keeps up with everything. We love it at Palomino!
Went to go see the apartments as my family is currently in the search of a new complex to live in. We had seen this complex online and liked what we saw, - however we came and no office person to be found. The property itself looked well kept and clean! We waited a few minutes hoping the office person would come around. No one to be found, a resident stated maybe they were busy flirting with maintenance. This made us look else where as I’m not sure of the kind of people whom take care of the place.
The property is absolutely perfect and I have no complaints about it. Manager has an attitude sometimes, as I have witnessed her give another resident the rudest look ever. Otherwise I have enjoyed my years at this place.
Every thing was fine until I moved out. They are charging me 600$ but there is no explanation to what the charge was for. I’ve never had problems with anyone before except INH.
I lived here for 8 years and never had a negative experience until moving out. Told one thing by the property manager and am now being told something completely different by the ownership company INH Properties. Resident handbook says we should get a move out letter - didn't get. Supposed to schedule inspection - never mentioned during all our communications. Had my wife sign the move out inspection form without doing it with her, hadn't even completed it yet. Told we would be getting money back from the last month rent paid when first moved in but ownership has made no mention of it.
DO NOT RENT FROM INH PROPERTIES!! I lived at Palomino East from July 2020 to March 2022 having to terminate my lease early due to purchasing a house. I had 4 months remaining on my lease after the 60 day early termination notice, and was promised they would do everything in their power to release the apartment so I would no longer be liable for the remaining months rent. I have paid in full on time every month I have been liable for, but now with two months remaining on the original lease they have sent me a collections notice demanding the remaining two months up front within 10 days of the notice or they will be sending me to collections. These people are dishonest scoundrels who are only in the rental business for the money. They will not treat you like a person, only as a way for them to make a dollar. I highly urge you to find housing elsewhere.
My experience as a long time and returning renter boils down to this - Palomino East offers great value for the money, backed by one of the best property managers I have had the pleasure of doing business with. Some details from a renter's perspective: Appliances - The units themselves tend to tick all the boxes in terms of amenities and are comfortable. While Palomino may not be top of the line in terms of the latest and greatest appliances and fixtures, one will not find additional cost in the monthly rent reflecting that. Maintenance is kept on point. If there is an issue, management always figures out a speedy fix based on your schedule and their workload. Package handling and deliveries - there is a designated drop off spot for all the major carriers in the main lobby area for all you Amazon Prime junkies out there (including myself). Transit and parking - For those working in downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul, there is a park and ride station about a quarter mile away which is easily walk-able. It would be possible to do most of your commuting via bus if this is your scenario. A larger transit station is also about 5 minutes away on Cedar which offers more options. Uber services typically work with no issue - taxi service and food delivery. In terms of parking, the surface lot is not cramped and covered, heated parking is available for a reasonable up charge. During the snowy season the surface lot is plowed out regularly and notices are posted so you are not likely to get plowed in. Property Management - one of the best in the business, genuinely cares for people. If you have a concern related to your unit it is addressed relatively quick. Will work with you to find solutions to one-off scenarios as well as moving arrangements - both in to and out of your apartment. Local area - a nature trail and several parks are available by foot. Lebanon Hills and Alimagnet Park are also available nearby and offer spots for grilling and hosting events. Several malls are available within ten minutes drive time, one being the Mall of America. Food and Night Life - Apple Valley is continually being developed and offers a full range of cuisines. Several bars in the area offer casual nights out. It is also a short drive north to the downtown districts. In Summary - The overall experience at Palomino is not super trendy but instead brings good value in the areas where it counts, especially for maintenance and management.
As my title says, I can't recommend management enough. There is one main person who is the head manager who *literally* bends over backwards to help you out with any needs you may have. What apartments do you know have management that does that?! This place does! He is honest to goodness one of the nicest people you will ever meet. And the fact that he bends over backwards to help you out is unbelievable. If you have any issues at all, he will be all over whatever issues you may have. When you talk with him, you will know immediately that he is friendly and that he is there to help you out. That main manager I was telling you about makes sure to plow the parking area actively so that you don't get swamped with snow. Also, this place is VERY park friendly! Guests and people who live here can park anywhere outside in the parking lot that has a ton of space. If you want to have an underground garage parking spot, it's $40 a month, which is very well priced. The carpeting in your room is the most unique kind of carpeting I have ever seen. It is not like your regular carpeting that you see in apartments, and that is in a good way. There are new exercise machines that were recently implemented. The Community Room is a beautiful place and is very welcoming. I can't emphasize enough how friendly the main manager is. Strongly recommend you at least visit this apartment if you are apartment searching.
