Downtown Phoenix is home to some of Arizona's most important cultural institutions, entertainment centers and professional sports teams, so residents never need to go far to find fun. The dining scene is top notch, featuring an eclectic mix of over 100 restaurants to satisfy any appetite. Performance venues of every size host symphony orchestras, rock bands, comedy shows, and theater productions regularly. A variety of museums and the University of Arizona campus boost the area’s intellectual capital, and residents enjoy quick access to pro baseball and basketball games just down the street.
As a major commercial center, the neighborhood’s high rises house dozens of corporate offices, making it an ideal spot for urban professionals who want the ability to walk to work. The extensive sidewalk system makes it easy to walk anywhere, and green spaces like the lush Margaret T. Hance Park provide gorgeous oases in the desert sun.

I have lived at this apartment complex for about 2 years. There are VERY good things about this complex and there are VERY bad things. I will give you an honest appraisal and you can decide for yourself. First, I am going to tell you the bad to get it out of the way. The parking lot is horribly designed and is supposed to be a one-way but everyone goes in backwards, including myself (sorry in advance). The area is not as bad as 27th avenue and Indian School but I would not consider it good. I don't see a whole lot of crazy behavior but there was an experience that worried me. There was a man that was high (I'm assuming) who confused my apartment for somebody else's that owed him money. He tried to kick in my door. Thankfully, one of my neighbors stopped him because I wasn't home at the time. The door is made from good quality metal so it only got mildly dented on the outside. Because of this, I use an additional locking device at night to make sure even if someone had the key to my door they can't get in without waking me up. The apartment floors are horrible, I am NOT JOKING about this one. Thankfully I have carpet so I don't have to look at it but when I walk barefoot it's very obvious the floors are uneven and my downstairs neighbor can hear me walking around my apartment all the time because of the creaking noises. My neighbor says it's not that loud but I feel bad because I can't control the noise. I have good neighbors right now but the walls are VERY thin and if my neighbor is watching TV loud enough I can hear it perfectly. Now for the good. I am going to start with the best thing about this apartment. In this current market where an average apartment is rather high for one bedroom, I am paying SIGNIFICANTLY less than what's the average renter pays. And I do mean by SEVERAL hundred less a month. The apartment is huge for a one bedroom and for the most part, everything in good condition and looks nice. I have minimal bugs, which is very important to me. When I have issues with my apartment, they have been very responsive. But in all fairness, my downstairs neighbor says it takes them a while to get to any of his issues resolved, so I don't know. I can't speak for the new assistant manager because I haven't talked to her much but the general manager is very nice. Overall, I personally recommend this apartment. The low cost of rent compensates for the poor flooring and bad neighborhood. Hope this helped someone.
If I could zero stars I would! I would highly recommend reading this full post for any details and make sure that you aren't getting ripped off too! When we moved in, our first night our car was towed because they gave the towing number to a woman who wasn't supposed to be there. She towed our car and when we tried to get the money back, the ladies in the office promised that we would get it back and we never did. 100+ dollars just gone because of their mistake. The reliability of getting calls in is impossible. I very rarely received a response back and it was difficult to get anything done. The cleaning that was done when we moved in was so horrible that my roommate and I got rashes from whatever the heck they used on the carpet. It was horrific! They were a terrible cleaning crew. The maintenance was terrible. They had thieves and they were worked to death for those stayed. When we moved in our air condition broke and we were stuck in the heat for 2 weeks with a DOG. Mid way through the second week and they gave us a mobile air condition. Turns out, the air conditioner unit was so old that any longer and it would have caught on fire. The entirety that we were there, they messed up so many times in fixing ANYTHING. The washing machine/dryer never got fixed and they were absolutely horrendous in getting the actual parts. They were incredibly inconsistent. One of the dudes that they hired literally drilled a hole into the cupboard cabinet he was supposed to attach by a hedge into the freaking wall. They kept leaving their tools, and for the life of us we couldn't get them to fix the bathroom clogging either in the hallway bathroom. We luckily didn't have a problem with bugs so that was a plus. But the parking lot is awful, their flooring suffers from being uneven and the worst part of it all was the exit. I was the one who was to close everything for the apartment. Not ONLY did they charge me for the cleaning of the stove even though I'm pretty sure everything was spotless before we left; they charged me 5 days rent because the previous assistant manager (DINO) turned in my keys late because I HAD to turn them into him. He didn't send pictures until super late so the current manager didn't believe me and stated she had no proof even though I do have proof. So I ended up getting shorted in my deposit. This place is a rip off- nowhere even worth the rent or the hassle. I hope this place goes out of business for being so shady.
Management is poor and fails to take action. Unfortunately these apartments have gone very downhill in the last couple years. It does not feel like a safe space. Please look elsewhere and don’t waste your time.
I just moved into Papago Gardens and I'm happy with my move. My new apartment has everything I was promised it would have in it. Yvette in the office was helpful with making sure that my apartment would be ready on the date she promised and Bob the office manager did a great job pushing the contractors to get the job done on time and right. Everything looks great from the counters to the cabinets and my favorite is the wood flooring which makes the apartment look perfect. I'm enjoying washing clothes at home with the new washer and dryer as promised no more laundry mat :). If your looking for a great place to stay look at Papago Gardens reasonably priced, great location, and quiet property located near most of major freeways.
