Property Ratings at Paragon Westover Hills Apartments
1 year in. Good place overall. Love my carport (costs extra). Great location for traffic and convenience far better than anything in Alamo Ranch or Far West Side. Straight shot to Lackland & Kelly on 151. Nice pool, exercise room, mail room, other amenities. Seen some bugs but no “infestations” with proactive care. Maintenance is fast and reliable. Units kept well but built cheap so you hear too much. Smart Home is nice but the lock can be frustrating. Crime pretty average for this area, mostly just car break ins and unsavory characters. Sea World fireworks every holiday, don’t need to go anywhere! Valet trash nice but picky. Trash area is always a mess. Enforcement lacks some: pool/exercise room use, gates left open, laundry doors open all the time, people leaving trash out always, etc. Pet friendly, lots of dogs and a few cats. Best place I’ve had in SA though, maybe overall. Needs a hot tub though.

I’ve been here for a year now, The move in process was so easy. The complex is always clean. The communication is great with management . If there has ever been something that needed fixing, the apartment maintenance has always been quick to fix it and super friendly. I really have loved living here.

Settling into my first apartment and it’s been such an easy process. Aubrey was so nice and informative. She represented the community in such a way that I could not pass up. So far, I’ve been provided with everything I need to call this place home. The services they provide are exceptional and quick to install. The fact that these services come to you instead of you having to go to them makes this process even that much easier. I can’t wait for my future here.

Management did not disclose an ongoing cockroach infestation prior to move-in. There are cockroaches everywhere at all times of the day. Opportunity to tour the unit before move-in was not given, as the previous tenant was said to have been inhabiting the apartment right up until our move-in date. When the issue was raised to management, we were told that pest control was scheduled to come in a few days. No more details were given. It is difficult to believe that they were unaware of an infestation if pest control was already scheduled to come, and yet it was not disclosed to us, and no other accommodation was offered. Infestations like this do not happen overnight. If the intent of the statement was to communicate that the pest control appointment was a routine visit within the regular interval, this is not a problem that would be addressed by a routine preventative pest control visit. Reviews warning of this issue at Paragon Westover Hills are either hard to find or nonexistent, so the lack of transparency carries more weight. This place has all the bells and whistles of a luxury apartment (including rent prices), but that does not mean much when you can’t go to bed without worrying that cockroaches will be crawling all over you while you sleep. Moving here was expensive, and finding somewhere new on such short notice would not be a simple task. Not to mention the matter of the lease that was signed. Additionally, cockroaches have gotten inside our things, even the boxes that have not yet been unpacked. If we were to go somewhere else, we would be potentially transporting cockroaches wherever we go next, and putting someone else in the position we were put in is not something I am comfortable with ethically. As someone who attempted their best to do their due diligence when choosing a place to rent, this is a textbook nightmare scenario. Don’t let it happen to you like it did to us.
