Situated a comfortable 19 miles northeast of Minneapolis, White Bear Lake is a serene lakeside suburbia. Though many residences reside on the water, there is plenty of public lakefront space at the community parks. Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, and relaxing at White Bear Lake County Park or Matoska Park, and check out the public pet-friendly beach while you’re there.
While you’re by the lake, try local restaurants like Acqua, a hot spot Italian restaurant with an elegant setting and beautiful lakeside views. Multiple golf courses and country clubs take up residency in White Bear Lake, with a few more right outside of town. From new construction to classic complexes, there are various apartments for rent around the city.

Property Ratings at Park Avenue Apartments
My family and I lived at Park Avenue Apartments until this last month, and we had been there for 4 years. We finally bought a house for our growing family, otherwise we would have stayed! Staff was always friendly and helpful (and especially kind to our kids), the building was well maintained with management staying up to date with safety as well as voluntary upgrades. The few minor problems we had over the years (usually caused by our adventurous kiddos) were usually addressed within the same day. The patch of lawn right outside our walk-out patio door saw hours of fun year round (and the neighbors were always gracious and smiling as our kids took over the sidewalk with chalk, paint, or shovels in the wintertime), with a park a block away for more energetic adventures. Neighbors were nice, and overall a quiet place to live (we were by far probably the loudest!). I couldn’t have asked for anything more from a place for our young family to live. When I came to write this review, I was honestly shocked to see some of the other reviews, so I’d like to make a couple notes: 1. In our first interactions with the apartment manager, she was professional, straightforward, and to-the-point. Subsequent interactions varied - if I was bringing up a concern she was very prompt in getting it documented and addressed, etc; if we happened to run into her and we were just saying hi, she was much more relaxed and engaging with the kids. I personally appreciated her focus and attention to detail - I always felt that she was being conscious of not wasting MY time (especially as a mom with littles in tow), as well as still maintaining all her duties overseeing 120+ apartments and 30+ townhouses. Then again, I wasn’t raised in Minnesota, so half of the beat-around-the-bush niceties before finally saying what you intend to say, and taking half an hour to say goodbye have always been a bit annoying to me. 2. In my 14+ years of renting, I have never once been “offended” that a management company did not call me back...I simply assumed that if I didn’t hear from them, they didn’t have any availability. And I was always appreciative of the managers who did pick up when I called and simply told me they didn’t have anything available - 30 seconds or less was a win. Also, apartment listing sites will almost ALWAYS list the properties as “coming soon”...it would be a full-time job to be constantly updating it.
Repairs are done fast and quick. Stay day. Awesome!
All I did was call to see when there would be a apartment available and she was like nope nothing open nothing soon even though it say apartments available soon. She just kept saying yep and nope and hung up. Trying to find a affordable apartment for me and my daughter and it makes it difficult when you deal with people like this. I definitely will not be recommending this apartment to anyone
My Wife and I lived here for a year and just moved into a one level townhome. Everyone treated us extremely well from the time we moved in at Park Ave Apartments. Maintenance was always fast and fixed the first time. The building is very well maintained and the elevator was fixed the same day if it had problems which was rare. The price is very reasonable as well. Overall, an outstanding experience!!
Called asking questions and got nothing but rude, short remarks as well..it’s not that hard people!!
Went to ask a few questions about renting availability and was greeted by a very rude manager. She got angry when I was nothing but polite. I'm a nice person and never said anything off which is why I was so surprised with how I was treated. Won't ever rent here and I'll be sure to spread the word. No one should be treated like that.
Just called to ask a couple questions and the woman on the phone was extremely rude as if I was wasting her time. I'd stay clear or you'll be dealing with that for the next year. Yikes.
I've lived here for less than a year now in the town homes. I was disappointed to learn that the gym, sauna, and the laundry card kiosk were all inside the apartment building, which requires you to be let in by the manager. As stated in other reviews, property manager is in fact a bit rude and acts as though you are a bother at times. Now we've received a letter from management stating that, "from 10pm to 6am DAILY," the towing company will come through the lots and tow for a vast variety of reasons. Just seems a bit threatening, especially since impound lots are incredibly expensive. Rent was raised, though not because improvements have been made. Area is tucked away and quiet, and the maintenance guys are great. Lots of wildlife around. Never had much problems with neighbors. Electric bill is pretty high, even when you unplug everything and don't have cable or use a lot of heat or A/C. Just an older building, I guess, and the windows frost and condense up a lot. Not bad, but not great.

I was disappointed to learn that the gym, sauna, and the laundry card kiosk were all inside the apartment building, which requires you to be let in by the manager, and the gym and sauna are only allowed for the apartment tenants. As stated in other reviews, property manager is in fact a bit rude and acts as though you are a bother at times. They have been doing constant inspections, requiring them to come into the home when you're not there. We went 6 months before we had a month without them entering the house. Now we've received a letter from management stating that, "EVERY night," the towing company will come through the lots and tow for not having a parking permit (fine), but will tow you for a flat tire even if you do have a permit (excellent, so instead of trying to fix it yourself which is what I do, you have to pay the fee to get your car released from impound, probably with a tow truck of your own for added costs because your tire is still flat, and then go and get a new tire before the cycle repeats the next night... makes sense). Rent is raised annually, though not because improvements have been made. Area is tucked away and quiet, and the maintenance guys are great. Lots of wildlife around. Electric bill is pretty high, even when you unplug everything and don't have cable or use a lot of heat or A/C. Not bad, but not great.
I went on a tour of 2 town homes and the first one was disgusting and I thought maybe it's just this one. Nope....it was both of them. They are very small and the rent is too expensive for the size.
Property seemed nice enough and a good price. Property/rental manager is rude and unfriendly. During our entire visit she seemed to be bothered by us inquiring about the townhomes. All questions were received with an immediate sigh. Oh, and don't even think about asking about the apartments, they have a waiting list. Well, they won't for long with her dealing with potential tenants.
We came to your lovely apartment/town-home site in hopes of finding our forever home...But changed our minds when we were greeted by a rude rental manager. She was cold from the start, she argued with my fiance when he was just asking a simple, polite question. She seemed like we were a bother, not good enough to consider living in her place. As she walked ahead of us, I seen her roll her eyes up and down, like what a waste of time. She was stern, had to try to get our questions answered, it was like forcing her to answer us. We were very polite, just inquiring about our possibilities. She did give us a call though, but she put me straight, when I wasn't even upset. She said to me, "Before you get frustrated" I was like, huh? No thanks to a forever home in your facility. Never want to work with her again.
Our apartment is a 2 bedroom; 2 full baths; living room with "count them" 12 wall surfaces all at different angles; kitchen; dining room; and a laundry/storage/panty room. Room sizes are mostly typical. With many closets. We live on the most northern side of the building and enjoy watching all of the wild turkeys and deer and occasionally a fox. Rent is typical at $1100 mth utilities. It is family oriented but very quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. Apartments range of 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms.
We were promised a smoke free town home. Which is far from the past two years in our building. The person clearly is smoking in their apartment and it effects 6 other apartments not including ours. When we complain about it, they won't do anything to resolve the issue. The people who maintain the apartments can't seem to fix anything, or lie about it being fixed. If they do fix it, instead of actually fixing the issue they Jerry rig it. There is no concern for anyone here. There is no emergency ladders to get out of a second story building in case of a fire. We have spent a ton of money making it a decent place, and we have fixed most of our own issues due to wanting it done correctly.
My family and I have lived in these Townhomes for 9 months. At first, we liked the place. It had the space we needed and although the appliances we outdated, they still got the job done. After a few days of living here the toilets were leaking, as well as the refrigerator and dishwasher. We've contacted maintenance and got them fixed, but a few weeks later we had the same problem. I noticed that they try saving money by just fixing these old appliances, but they just keep breaking down. They really need to work on upgrading these homes. The shared laundry room also has continuos problems with washer and dryers. This place is affordable and its not bad, but it could be better if they would just spend more money on better appliances; especially since they tend to raise the rent for people who renew the leases with them.
I have been living here for about 6 months and I really like it. I've lived in other apartment complexes and this one is by far my favorite. It is very quiet, the other tenants are respectful and have been here for quite a while. The apartments are dated, with older appliances but they're functional. The apartment manager is hard working and busy but its obvious she does her best and it shows. The grounds and building are kept clean and look nice. I've never seen a cockroach or unwanted pest in my apartment or in the building.
Moving in here this fall, love that it is a townhome and not an apartment, GREAT area surrounded by lakes!
Property Manager at Park Avenue Apartments, Responded To This Review
I'm moving into a 2 bedroom townhome in a couple weeks. The weekend manager was very friendly and welcoming. The manager during the weekdays seemed like she just wanted to get things done and over with. I personally liked what I saw during the walk through. There were some things that I felt could be fixed or cleaned but they told me it will be done before I move in so we'll see about that.
We really thought we were going to love this place. There first was a very very nice manager then she moved to a different complex:( Rude manager took over. Couldn't wait to move out after all the spiders there were even outside the building on the walls. Every day there would be spiders and earwigs . It was horrible. Nice place but should be caring more for maintenance. Carpet was already stained in our unit and still got charged for stains that were already there. Bad experience!
I was so excited to move here. But ever since we moved in there has been nothing but problems.. our fireplace doesn't work, our sinks over flows, there's mold in the toilets, our sink leaks.. the gyms equipment is broke or the batteries are not good anymore. The saunas light doesn't work either. And the vibe here is very unwelcoming..
I did a walk through of this complex and was actually pretty excited to see it from what I saw online. The cupboards, mirrors, closet doors, EVERYTHING needed to be updated. Especially for the rate that they are asking. I have visited many apartments and townhomes and can tell when a place is taking short cuts and still charging the amount others are. Not worth a look until they update.
