Known as the as the Queen City of the Ozarks, Springfield merges city living with pastoral life. When locals aren’t enjoying the woods, rivers, and lakes in nearby state parks, you’ll find them in Downtown Springfield. Downtown Springfield borders the Missouri State University campus, while Drury University, Evangel University, and several other schools are just a short drive away. The heart of the city is a bustling hub filled with breweries, theaters, nightclubs, coffee shops, boutiques, art galleries, and more. Cheer on the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field, go ice skating at Jordan Valley Park, or explore museums like the Discovery Center of Springfield. Second Saturday Artwalks and beer festivals are just two examples of Springfield’s lively special events. Similar to its abundance of amenities, Downtown Springfield has a variety of rental options for every style and budget. You’ll find converted lofts, student apartments, modern condos, and two-family buildings.

Property Ratings at Park East - The Sterling
1) Since it's an old hotel that's been converted, the individual units are not metered. So all the tenants split the total cost of the utility bill. Now, if I had known this, I would not have agreed to a lease. I know someone out there is saying, "you should have read your lease". First of all, I did and it was not clear in there. Second of all, I definitely believe they should have said so in the beginning and they did not. Think about it, they have to know that such a situation is unique and not usual. So yes, legally, there's nothing I can do because "it's in the lease" but ethically I truly believe they should have said something. In the future, I will be having a lawyer read over any rental agreement. I never thought I'd have to say those words about renting an apartment. When I moved in, the unit was filthy It was supposed to be cleaned, it wasn't. They just said, "sorry" and that was it. 3) If you plug in things into the wall sockets, it trips the breaker all the time. The maintenance guy told me that the building was wired poorly. I have lost power in the middle of the night many times. Very little hot water at all. It might get warm, it never gets hot. Very loud! Apartments located next to bars/clubs WiFi is spotty You can call the number for technical support but it doesn't fix the problem. My murphy bed broke, leaving me without a bed until maintenance could get to me. My apartment flooded due to a rain. Shorted out my computer. It was horrible. Ruined a few books, some clothes and food as well. After everything else I'd been through, I asked to be released from my lease, but they said "no". Legally, they just have to be able to provide another unit for me, which they did. Why would they not let you leave a place you're miserable living in? Money, I guess. And I asked if they'd cover the deductible for my renter's insurance claim for the computer and they did agree to that which I wanted to include in this review. I decided a few days ago not to take them up on it though because I simply don't trust them anymore and just don't want to deal with them. I want to keep my head down and survive til the end of May. 10) Other stuff Bad furniture, bad smells, incredibly drafty windows that myself and my neighbor both have put clothes in the cracks and base of to try to block the cold air and bugs.
