The cost of living is relatively low in the South Side, so there are plenty of affordable apartments available for rent, but there are also mid-range apartments with upscale amenities available as well. Locals enjoy the year-round sunshine, close-knit community, and proximity to the heart of Louisville. The South Side is adjacent to the Louisville International Airport and is just minutes from Kentucky Kingdom and the Kentucky Exposition Center.

Property Ratings at Park Lake Apartments
Recently divorced, I looked for a nice, affordable apartment for myself that I’d feel comfortable living in. This apartment honestly shattered my expectations. I’ve been here since October 2020 and I haven’t had any issues. My neighbors are chill - we all mostly keep to ourselves but not in a standoffish way. I love that we have some officers that live on property as well. It definitely makes me feel safer. Amanda, Nicole and Zack are awesome! I enjoy chatting with them when I have questions or concerns. I love that they have scheduled days when they spray for bugs, do inspections, etc. It is clean. The balcony is cute, as are the doors. Love having the W/D in there. It’s a lifesaver. Lol the maintenance team is awesome as well. They’re funny, and do a great job (very helpful as well). My kitten loves it here, just as much as I do. Lol there’s plenty parking spots, so most of the time you get a spot in front of your building. If you love the lake, this is a great place to live.
My car would be broken into multiple times, holes in the walls while I walk to my apartment would take months or more to fix. Every single neighbor I’ve ver had has been very loud or has had loud animals. The walls are thin so you can hear almost everything going on. I feel that there is no privacy living here
Amber has been an absolute God-send during this whole process! She has gone above and beyond her job duty to help me find a new place to call home! Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and support through all of this! And for making our transition so smooth!
My family and I moved from out of state and ended up here site un-seen. Our apartment was a dingy basement apartment that reeked of cigarette smoke and wet dog. We were told the carpet was being "Replaced" while talking to the staff before we moved. Once we arrived the carpet was still damp from when they cleaned it and there were still heavy traffic stains but definitely not replaced. Every night my kids room would fill up with cigarette smoke from the neighbors that they allow to smoke in the apartments. I feel this should have been disclosed before hand since everyone knows the dangers of second hand smoke these days. The gentleman that lived across the hall would open his door and the stench emanating from that mans apartment was unbearable. I called the police to have a welfare check because I thought it was a rotting corpse. The apartment next to me had 3 couples living there that liked to party all night and keep my kids up with their music. All in all the apartments themselves were cheaply maintained and way too expensive for what you are getting. The lake is nice and is awesome to be able to walk there and fish any time of day. The work out room is run down and needs updating. The pool is above average and well maintained. The grounds are horrible due to lazy people letting their animals go wherever they please and don't pick it up. You can't walk anywhere in the grass without stepping in dog poo. The staff is great! I wish I was writing this review on their performance instead of the apartments overall. We came to them with our issues, which they tried very hard to resolve. When that didn't work they let us out of our lease early without paying any fees. It's been several weeks now and haven't heard anything about my security deposit besides they didn't find any discrepancies when we moved out. If it weren't for the staff and pool I would give these apartments 1 star.
I have lived at Park Lake for a few years and I wouldn't consider living in another apartment complex in Louisville. The scenery is awesome and to be right next to a lake is so much fun. You can walk down to the lake and go fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. Where else can you do that? The staff is so helpful and friendly. Best place to live. Henry Bronger
great amenities, right on the lake and in a great area! I couldn't be happier with apartment living here. Where else can you go swimming in a pool looking out at the lake? Or rent a canoe for the day. It truly is like being on vacation everyday! If you enjoy being outside then this is the best place to be. Hiking, canoeing, bbq on the lake.... They offer it all.
I am very lucky to have found such a nice place to call home. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. I have stayed in both their one and two bedrooms and would recommend them to anyone.
My wife and I have only lived at Park Lake Apartments for a month, but a first impression is extremely important. We initially like the area because it was far enough from busy roads to have quiet surroundings, but close enough to stores and other places. Not to mention the park in walking distance as well as McNeely Lake. The unit itself is pretty spacious except for the kitchen and dining area, but not to small to be an issue. The best thing is probably the stacked up washer and dryer. For the most part the staff is friendly and helpful.
