While the coast of California is lined with a variety of great cities, the small beach city of Port Hueneme stands out. Located about halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, Port Hueneme is located in Ventura County and contains the Naval CBC Port Hueneme and the popular Hueneme Beach Park. With mountains on the horizon and the Pacific Coast at your door, life in Port Hueneme is all about outdoor activities -- especially surfing, swimming, boating, and fishing.
Among the many things you'll love about living in Port Hueneme, this beach town is famous for its surfing, its fishing pier, and its lighthouse. The Point Hueneme Light doesn't resemble the typical lighthouse. While there has been a lighthouse here since 1874, the current lighthouse was built in 1940 -- in the art deco style popular at the time. The lighthouse features a promenade that provides terrific views of two historic sites, the 1872 Wharf and the Oxnard Packing House.

Property Ratings at Park Madera
I lived here for over 2 years under a new management. The manager is very very rude and lazy. Don’t even try talking to her. Also, finding a parking is very hard if you have more than one car. If you can’t find a parking, you have to park in front of the stores.
The property is well maintained? and management staff is nice and efficient. My one bedroom was tiny but I appreciated the not all white paint color, the carpet, the recent kitchen and bathroom cabinets or the daylight with the large windows. Also I didn't have to buy appliances even if the fridge was old and noisy. The bathroom was white-paint and could have an upgrade. The heating system is old and probably costly on electricity so I used a little heater. But my main concern was the noise as the building has a very poor sound's insulation. You can hear your neighbors, TVs and worst music! Luckily, I never to much suffered from this but be aware that if your neighbors have sound system, you'll have to enjoy their music. My apartment was upstairs and on the inside court so quiet. There is few grocery stores and restaurants around but keep in mind that the neighborhood is not too bad but the little shopping mall next door has a "interesting" crowd! Overall I would recommend this building but keep in mind the noise insulation diffeciency.
Didn't enjoy my 11 months honestly. I had 1 Bedroom. Cons: More like a studio set up; Only can have Verizon High Speed which really sucked (Fios is not usuable); only cable company you can use is DirectTv; Dated and extremely small kitchen; tiny bathroom w/ screeching sliding doors; not enough space for 2 people; little storage; even though it was gated it was not a secure area because you could walk through the front; Only 4 dryers and washers per floor; when it gets cold so does the whole apt poor heating is a definite; pool area was not very clean; layout of apt is poor; cable hookups are inconvient.Pros: great management; only have to pay electric;close to base and righy a bus stop.
This complex is well maintained by the manager and all the staff has proven to be nice thusfar. My only complaints with Park Madera is it's location and the lack of high speed internet. Although the apartment complex is nice, the surrounding neighborhood is a bit run-down and occupied by some questionable transients. Park Madera is however peaceful retreat from the surrounding area. Although the issue with the slow internet is out of Park Madera's control; it is something to strongly consider before choosing to move in. All of Port Hueneme only offers DSL, so if you stream videos or play games online it can become a bit trying to say the least. Other than that Park Madera is a great place to live. It is clean, very quiet, and close to the beach and harbor.
If what you are looking for is a great, quiet apartment, were executives and families are all welcome, in a well balanced community, this is the best choice. Conveniently located closed to shopping centers, restaurants and the beach. The buildings are well maintained and the units have been remodeled. All the areas are always clean and maintained. There are BBQ pits and tables thought the property. I also has the perfect pool and spa.
