Colorful, active, dynamic, energetic, diverse – all of these apply to West Campus, and with its large amount of students in the neighborhood, it’s easy to see why. The brightly-painted buildings, the trendy little pizza joints, and even the amount of bicycles in the area help define this neighborhood as a haven for University of Texas-Austin students. But even if you aren’t a student, this neighborhood is terrific – there are plenty of apartments to choose from, the housing stock is diverse, and the location is ideal.
West Campus extends from Lamar Boulevard to “the Drag,” or Guadalupe Street. The Drag is where you’ll find a wide selection of shops, restaurants, and bars. These include local favorites like Cabo Bob’s, Halal Bros, the Spider House Café and Ballroom, and Kerbey Lane Café. On the west side, things are a little quieter with Pease Park and the Shoal Creek Greenbelt framing the area.

Property Ratings at Park Place Apartments
Worst apartment that I have lived in during my time at UT. The elevator was consistently broken. During move in, they were out of parking passes so I was given an expired one and told not to worry. A couple weeks later my car was towed for an expired parking pass. I tried multiple times to reach out to management but I never got a response. The door knobs are very bad and one time it broke while I was in my room. I tried calling maintenance to help get me out and was told maintenance doesn't work on Sundays. Luckily my roommate had just left for winter break and was able to turn back around to get me out. During move out me and my mom thought that management might try to pull something on us so we cleaned the apartment for 2 days straight. When we got our deposit back there was a hefty cleaning fee. My mom then tried contacting management multiple times for a detailed explanation and she did not get a response.
The elevator never worked, there was always loud beeping and dripping in the stairwell, and the parking garage was frequently vandalized and stolen from because the property manager kept the garage door open and accessible to anyone. Our apartment was okay, but had various mold and sewage issues. Our heating system also failed. When you have a maintenance issue, don't expect it to get fixed for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. The worst part was during the winter freeze in Feb 2021, when our pipes burst flooding the entire apartment setting off the fire alarms for 3 days straight. Management (based in California) did not even try to care or act to protect its Texas tenants. We were not offered alternate living accommodations, claiming that our apartment provided "livable conditions" (lease terminology) despite evacuating us to tear down the walls due to molding from the flooding with no warning. Again, neither of my roommates or I were ever offered alternative living accommodations. Also, the property manager was condescending and unwilling to help.
