An easy 20-minute drive via Interstate 26 takes residents into downtown Charleston and its multitude of restaurants and bars. The Charleston Air Force Base resides at the center of the outer North Charleston neighborhood, and due to this proximity, many current and former military personnel make the neighborhood their home. Home styles typically range from either mid-1900s ranch styles to between one- and two-story homes built in the 2000s.
Outer North Charleston residents enjoy easy access to international travel via the Charleston International Airport, which is located within the neighborhood. The North Charleston Coliseum, Charleston’s only coliseum and largest performance venue, provides residents with loads of entertainment.

Property Ratings at Park Place
summary: Fair starter apartment. They need to change pest control companies and have apartments ready for showings when listed as available. Pros 1. I felt safe here. We have police officers that live here. No real crime. there has been little reports of items in people's cars going missing but it was because they didn't lock their doors/ take proper precautions. 2. Neighbors were extremely nice and welcoming. 3. Management implemented I want to say 48 hours or 72 hrs response when it comes to responding to maintenance issues. 4. Maintenance is friendly. The front desk woman, I think her name is Kimberly is very nice, professional and welcoming. 5. Pet friendly. 6. They send out emails to our little community about different changes, reminders etc 7. Landscaping/ Maintenance do their best to keep the grounds clean but it's really up to the residents to clean up after themselves. I have seen lots of residents throw their trash where it doesn't belong, failing to pick up after their pet, kids dropping food outside etc Cons 1. In the 20 mins I spent on the initial walk through in the apartment, the light fixture in the kitchen fell... and almost fell on me. I went to the office and was told maintenance won't come until Monday (it was a Saturday) because it wasn't considered an emergency. So I couldn't use my kitchen. 2. My apartment was infested with roaches. I didn't know this until my 1st night. I didn't see any signs of an infestation during the daylight. However, once I started treating my apartment, whoever was in there before me I could tell treated it for roaches. 3. Maintenance came and fixed the light fixture that Monday and took accountability that it was incorrectly installed by a new employee. I was also told they would treat the infestation. 4. The roaches in my apartment didn't seem to respond to their pest control treatment. Other tenants have confirmed this for their buildings/apartments. However, pest control did come every week for a month. Ultimately, my neighbor and I worked together on our apartments to rid the issue ourselves with the products we bought. Took 4 months for me to completely rid the infestation in my apartment. 5. I have a personal pet peeve of both being able to see exactly which apartment I will be moving into. I also understand why some places don't allow this but don't list an apartment as available if it is not immediately ready for showing.
For a temporary place, this is like a run down hotel. Roaches in the apartment even if every bit of food is sealed up and everything is cleaned spotlessly. Maintenance is responsive to select problems. Unit has original bathroom fixtures that are not good. Toilet takes 3 flushes to completely flush all solid waste. Hall closet and under sinks smell like a dumpster on a hot day. Carpet is disgusting, dirty and was damp upon move in. Police regularly are getting called to the complex. There is a nice looking tennis court with swings under a pergola and cornhole games, but it has been locked up since I moved in. The fitness center is open only during office hours, so hopefully you don’t want to work out in the evening or weekends. Laundry room is gross, washing machines smell of mold. But, it’s cheap and it’s a place. Office staff is nice, maintenance staff is friendly.
I've just renewed my lease. Wonderful place to live. Neighborhood is quite and safe. Kids go outside freely to play. Comfortable because we have police do a neighborhood check daily. Grounds are maintain and always clean. Management and maintenance are friendly and are on time. I recommend anyone to live here. Also the rent is very reasonable. IT'S ALWAYS A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD!
