Property Ratings at Parkchester Apartments
honest review from someone who lived here for a year! HUGE BUG PROBLEM & they do nothing about it #1 reason why i moved. things are always breaking & they only do a temporary fix same thing will be broke again within a few months. management does suck, i was told i could not get my security deposit back because i didn't give a written 30 day notice to move out, even tho i didn't know i was moving until last min. my lease was up, i did not break it, tear up the house, or anything of that nature but ig that doesn't matter because i didn't give a 30 day notice. you pay rent for the place & the amenities it comes with which is the pool, but manager is the ONLY one with a key to the pool & she locks it up at 5pm when she leaves for the day. when i asked why was it this way she said because she has no one to lock up for her, but why not keep it locked & give tenants all a key?? my neighbors & other people surrounding were caring & always looked out for me. the area is quiet, those are the only good things about this place.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to the homeless!!!!
The apartment was pretty but it was falling to pieces. The property manager didn’t know what she was doing. When it came time to move out they tried to make me pay more after my lease was over, because I didn’t give them 30 day notice. Which you don’t need if your lease isn’t an auto-renewal lease. Which mine wasn’t.
I have lived there until my lease was up & ready to go. The apartment manager has lost my rent payment multiples times... she has also put my rent payment on another persons account. There is a roach problem for sure. One night my boyfriend was taking out trash at night & one of the residence wanted to act like police & pushed my boyfriend to the ground pointed his gun at him with his big canine dog sitting there waiting for a command to hurt my boyfriend. Police were called by the left quickly before anyone could find him. Never again will i ever rent anything from white properties EVER again.
It's probably best to not live here. I've lived here for 2 or so years now and I'm looking for a new place. The managers aren't helpful at all. There's a drug problem in my building (you can smell weed in the breezeway and outside of some of the doors when you pass by) but they never do anything about it despite people complaining. From my understanding these apartments have had a long standing drug problem and had I have known that when looking for a place I would have never moved in here. They don't schedule spraying regularly enough to keep the pests out (cockroaches and spiders galore). And, the management's/owners' -only- concern is keeping people out of a "broken" pool by shelling out money (that could be used for other things) so they could re-lay a 4ft fence that isn't broken or damaged with a 6ft fence because some people went swimming when the management was careless enough to leave the gate unchained/unlocked for several days. I'm no rocket scientist but I'm fairly certain the people who went swimming thought the same thing I did when I saw the gate open and the chain gone, that the pool was open for swimming. Despite the fact that they were careless enough to leave the lock off the gate and the gate open for days, the management decides to write a nasty letter to all the residents threatening to keep the pool closed because people went swimming and accusing the residents of vandalism/breaking the lock. Seriously, the pool was closed when I moved in, a year or so later they decide to fix it and it sat there repaired but still closed for months while the sidewalk remained torn up. They finally get the side walk in order after it sat torn up for almost 6 months untouched but the pool is still "broken". I'm with the person who made a review 2 months ago, they shouldn't be listing the "sparkling" pool as an amenity when its NEVER open and no one is allowed to use it. You're pretty much paying (in your rent) for a pool you never get to use and only get to look at.
My 1st apartment was here at Parkchester. I would suggest gif for anyone looking for an apartment, to look elsewhere. The managers always have an attitude and are not helpful. The washer and dryers are always taking money, which requires you to wash your clothes elsewhere. The manager is barely in the office sometimes. The major disadvantage of living here is that if you have a problem that is not resolved with the manager, you are unable to speak with the owners. To me, that is bad business. How do you expect to have a good relationship with the people who are living here when you’re always unavailable. Also, the pool never works. It can’t be listed as an amenity if it never works.
The location is great walking distance to park, fast food, and walmart. It is a quiet apartment even if you are very close to the highway. We used to live there for almost 2 years and the first manager (old nice guy) was real great, very polite and helpful. The only problem I had with this apartment, it got nasty! My apartment smelled like cigarette and there is no one in my family who smokes. Most of my neighbors smoke so I am not sure how and why the stink gets into my unit. In many occasion my husband and I would smell (as per him it was weeds since i did not know how it smells) weeds. We can smell it near the parking lot or the just when we are walking the hallway and you can smell it during the day or early night. I have told the new manager about the weed smell (She is a nice lady) but ofcourse nothing happened. My daughter was always sick, she would get a cold, allergic reaction on who knows what! The doctor said it was rhinitis. I kept my unit always clean, washed my carpet and dust free unit. I wouldn't even open the patio door, but with no help she still gets sick (now we moved out she dont get sick like that). At one point our AC broke and it was summer! It took them 4 days to fix it well finally after the 4th day they changed the AC unit but those 3 night we were staying at a hotel because it was so hot in there! The pool in the apartment was barely clean, in my 2 years stay i have never used it! There is not enough dryer and washer in the area, lucky there is a walking distance washer and dryer. When we finally got feed up with it, (hey dont get me wrong the place was cheap and that was the main reason why we went there because it was cheap and we saved money) we moved and was over charged with the fees. On top of cleaning the unit like repainting a wall since my daughter wrote on a wall with a pen, clean the carpet and stove which i do not mind, they had the audacity to charge me additional $80. I asked them what it was and they told me that it was to take the trash out! I told them there was no trash in that unit. The only thing what was left there is a shower curtain and if they considered that a trash! I tried to reason with them and I should have snap shot the place when we left. It was empty no trash not even a single hair cause i vacum when we moved out! They would not correct it and went straight to report it to my credit. They told me I have 30 days to pay.
