Nestled along Puget Sound, Tacoma is a seaside city ideally located about halfway between Seattle and Olympia with about 30 miles to both. The city is actually named for Mount Rainier, which was originally called Takhoma. If you are looking at apartments in Tacoma, consider Central Tacoma -- it is located on the west side of Downtown, directly south of the University of Puget Sound. Central Tacoma is home to Cheney Stadium and several golf courses.
Life is easy in Central Tacoma -- Tacoma was named one of the most livable cities in the nation. It is also one of the most pedestrian-friendly, and it is home to Washington State's first electric light rail service. As for culture, Tacoma is home to the most museums in the state.

Property Ratings at Parkhurst Apartments
I lived in these apartments for four and a half years. I finally left because conditions continued to worsen. The neighborhood is loud, lots of kids that play until 10 at night during the spring and summer. Trash is a big problem. There are only two dumpsters for the whole complex. Trash gets emptied on Mondays, but by Friday there's just enough trash in the dumpster to create and overflow situation outside of the dumpster. The birds have all weekend to pick through the trash accumulating outside the dumpster. Trash is everywhere by Monday morning. What's worse is that most of it is recyclable. There is a recycle location just a mile away but the residents here would rather put up with trash everywhere. It always made me so angry deep down inside to see the missed opportunities laying around the dumpster. The trash issue gets worse for a few weeks when a resident moves out and dumps their trash outside the bin. The trash company will take only what's in the dumpster, then throwing everything a resident left behind into the dumpster when they leave. This creates overflow quickly and the process takes weeks to catch up. The parking is atrocious. The owner repaved and painted the parking spots. There is no assigned parking spots and often a resident will have 3-4 vehicles at a time. The parking Force is TINY!! If you have a large vehicle you'll probably get many dents and dings. Sometimes you can barely open the car door. This makes it extremely difficult to find a parking spot after a long day at work that you feel comfortable with. Last thing you want to do is walk from the other side of the complex. The apartment themselves are OLD. The floors creak and the walls are super thin. You can hear everything going on next to you. The appliances are OLD. The bathroom and sink fixtures are subpar. The cabinets are chipped on the edges. People use their patios as a storage unit, often having random items cluttered on their patios. If you are a clean person this will undoubtedly bother you from the inside out, thereby making your relaxation time outside more like a reason to be very upset with your 'don't give a crap' neighbors. Ohh, have I already mentioned the screaming kids??? There are so many reasons not to rent here. I wish I could post pictures. Just trust me, look elsewhere. Don't waste your time, you'll regret it.
I love our apartment. Not very many apartments have dinning rooms but ours does. With a porch and a entry way! Its wonderful! We have A wonderful apartment that is great to grow into. Its close to every little shop and restaurants. Close to the beach. The apartments are quite and there's no problems with neighbors. It's our little piece of heaven.
