Property Ratings at Parktowne Apartments
We were at Parktowne for 7 years and it was a great experience. The only reason we had to move is because our family was growing and we purchased a house close by. The schools are great and Highland Park is a wonderful place to raise a family. Everyone at Parktowne was friendly. Juan and Mario were always helpful when there was repairs. Dona was always quick to answer emails. We would definitely recommend Parktowne to our friends.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't be fooled by the decent reviews here. There are many many more cons than pros- the only two pro's are the convenient location and included utilities. I have lived here for 2 years (to my surprise). Here are the cons: - Terrible parking: the parking lot is first come first serve but the spots are almost always taken. Then you need to find street parking which is almost always unavailable as well. Very inconvenient especially if you have visitors. So you end up having to park really far. There is a garage but you have to pay and be wait-listed for years. - AC that always leaks: I've had to call maintenance 3 times in just one year for AC leaking from upstairs, and they had to come in and redo the ceiling paint. - Toilet that breaks at least once a year. Both incidents involved toilet non-stop flushing in the middle of the night. Toilet flush is so loud it sounds like a rocket launcher. - The slowest, most malfunctioning elevator. There's just one elevator for the entire building. The worst is when there are people moving in/moving out. Very inconvenient. - Inconsiderate maintenance/management: informs of lease renewal deadline last minute, and construction very last minute (ex, announcing new elevator installment 10 days before, mind you it takes 8 weeks and people need to take the stairs during that time) - Terrible laundry machines. I've had to hand wash/re-wash them multiple times - Thin walls. You can hear people having conversations from across the hall. - Buzzer that doesn't work. Parking lot door that no one closes and pretty much open to strangers to walk in (not safe)
We have lived at Parktowne Apartments for 4 years. We have been so happy here. The rooms are big. Juan and Mario are the maintenance guys. They are always there when you call. Dona is always so helpful in the leasing office. Every time I email her, she gets back to me right away. Just a wonderful place to live.
Parktowne has been my home for 5 years. The recent renovations are wonderful. The apartments are spacious. The staff is great. I am very happy to call Parktowne my home.
Parktowne is a wonderful home like environment with lots of friends who have turned into family. It is well run, clean and has nice tenants. I love the location of the building and the apartment is very nice overall.
Friendly, hospitable, generally sounds like the property management will be responsive. They opportunistically stole my prepaid first month's rent from me, when I had to move 25 days before moving in, to another area of the country because of a job change. Beware of this predatory practice, and I suggest seeking out other apartment complexes that do not have such a predatory approach to their potential renters.
Parktowne Apartments in Highland Park, NJ are good enough. I live in a one bedroom one bath model and pay $1,400 a month with some utilities included. Pros: spacious apartment with great closet space, New Brunswick train station and downtown within walking distance, large balcony and dishwasher in some models, decent counter space in kitchen, heat and AC work well enough. Cons: bathroom is extremely small, close to two hospitals so ambulance sirens are common and loud, building is old and it shows (creaky floors, some warping of floor) slowest elevator ever and no stair access from parking lot, parking not guaranteed, animals technically not allowed but some people do have pets, kitchen is a bit outdated, no gym or pool. There are small washers and dryers you can pay to use in the basement but they are not great. Overall I do think its worth the amount you pay but don't expect to be blown away.
