Property Ratings at Parkwood Apartments
This is now my second time renting here and I’ve had nothing but a great experience! Tracy has always been such a big help with anything I’ve needed
Calling the manager rude would be an understatement. My Lady and I were told to stop at the door by the manager who wore no mask so it couldn't have been a COVID reaction and were told there was nothing available. Try somewhere else or in a few months.
Horrible rude service. I called to ask if there was anything available, and was told there is nothing and when I asked when they think they would have something available she raised her voice and said there is nothing. Wouldn't stay here even if it was the last place on earth....
I’ve been here for a year and have had no problems. Repairs are always speedy and management has always been kind. My neighbors are all quiet and to themselves. Even got gifts on Christmas from them left at our door. Plan on staying until we buy a house!
Save your money and find another place. Vandalism, roaches, and poor customer service mean you definitely get what you pay for here.
We have been calling for months now and they are no help! FRONT LADY STAFF IS VERY RUDE. Consider living somewhere else. They don’t like doing there job.
Manager Karen Is very polite when she is asked about the property and very honest about availability and comunicates in a very pleasant understandable manor. After speaking with her i felt very satisfied In her charismatic attitude
Staff is rude even when you just ask questions, kids pool was never really cleaned like the adult single pool. Cockroaches in kitchen, I asked management to have some one fumigate and I was just brushed off with an appointment and no one ever showed up. Front lady was rude and asked me a personal question about another tenant
The staff is responsive for repairs. The rent is very competitive and includes basic spectrum cable and wifi included in each unit. They seem to screen the tenants well so there seems to be a good clientele, so far nice neighbors. Haven't used it yet but a main pool and a seperate kids pool. I give the staff in the office a positive review for Customer Service and Professionalism I think its Tracy and Darlene. I give 3 Stars due to the problems below. I give 5 stars to the Staff and contractors onsite. The next part if a message to the Property Owner. You may want to consider investing in Gating this community and more security or maybe cameras. Its has so much potential. Don't let the Homeless and Thieves ruin your property value. **********Unfortunately this location gets lots of homeless people coming onto the property at all hours. Most of the time they are left alone and not told to leave. The homeless walk all through the property with their carts, bikes and bags of cans. Security doesn't appear to have them leave. I think security is only here at night and they just drive through, I don't see them get out of the car ever. Mostly they go through the trash. They take everything they want from all the trash bins. They say is just cans and bottles but they turn all the trash inside and out. I see them walk away with items I put in the trash. Multiple Thefts in May 2020. Cars Broken into, Thieves stole Stereo Equipment, Car Registration, Insurance Cards, Mail, Locking Lug Nut Keys, Bicycles, Broke Car Windows etc. The thefts appear to be planned and targeted. The thieves used shaved keys and other equipment to break in to cars or smash and grab. Whats next, our Apartments? **************

Thank you for your positive comments in regards to our staff and the amenities we offer at Parkwood Apartments. We are very proud of our community and strive to make it an enjoyable place to live. I agree with you in regards to the problems the homeless are causing. This is not unique to Parkwood Apartments. The homeless have taken over many neighborhoods. It is very upsetting to see the trash and destruction they cause all over town. Our staff is very diligent about asking the homeless to leave our property. They leave and turn right around and come back. It would be great if there was help from the City in dealing with this problem. I will remind our staff and the Courtesy Patrol person to pay special attention to this problem. Please do hesitate to contact the Bakersfield Police Department to report any such situations. Thank you for choosing Parkwood Apartments. Darlene Gillen Property Manager
First off, I went in just to turn in an application and the staff was incredibly rude and snappy as soon as I walked in the door. I heard one of the employees publicly ridicule another applicant’s handwriting in front of her and myself and another person twice. I’ve never been so disgusted by people’s business character.
Absolutely horrendous service. Both front desk workers had a rudw attitude and were completely unhelpful.
Although the apartments themselves are decent, management makes this place unlivable. Their management practices feel outdated, they are often rude, have said extremely unprofessional comments, and are difficult to get along with in general. Any problems you might encounter (homeless digging through trash bins, Cockroaches skittering across your kitchen, tons of stray cats who keep having kittens, cars broken into, mugging in parking lots, cars blasting their bass, loud neighbors, screaming kids, baking dogs, you name it, they've got it), these problems are all met with terrible solutions. Like bandaids covering a wound. After living here for a year and two months, I'm calling it quits. Good riddance to terrible management which goes all the way up.

I am very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience living at Parkwood Apartments. That is certainly not our intention. Our policy is to handle non-emergency work orders within 24 to 48 hours and we have pest control service available. I agree with you that the homeless have become a wide spread community problem. We handle each complaint seriously, listen to both sides and make decisions based on what is legal and fair to all. At times the solution is not to everyone's satisfaction. Some of the problems you listed are part of living in close quarters to your neighbors. There will be noise. Unfortunately it seems you have experienced them all. Again I apologize for your experience and wish you good luck in your new apartment home. Darlene Gillen - Property Manager
These apartments are nice the staff is ok. Compared to some other places I enjoy this. The park isn't much they could update it but nevertheless its ok living here
The complex is huge and has so much to provide my family with the feel of a home at the price we can afford! Parks and pools with so much grass my boys are so happy here!! We have been here for a couple weeks and are able to take a short walk to the park every evening! Family of four happily fits in a large two bedroom!
I have been living here for 4 years and I have to say that they take great care of us! There is an adult pool and a family pool, along with ping pong, indoor hot tub, shefel board, volley ball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts and an office of wonderful staff!! Maintenance is always on top of any problem and I have to say that the free cable is another plus. They affor one and two bedrooms, small and large and the prices are just right!
