Nestled alongside the Raritan River in north-central New Jersey, Edison is a tranquil suburb with a rich history. The township was the site of Thomas Edison’s famous invention factory, where the incandescent light bulb was perfected and sound was first recorded. Aside from the township’s name, Edison honors the renowned inventor with landmarks like Thomas A. Edison Park and Edison State Park, which contains the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park.
In addition to its historic charm, Edison offers residents top-notch schools, vibrant shopping centers, and lush parks in a central locale. Although residents enjoy Edison’s quaint atmosphere, major cities like New York City and Philadelphia are both within an hour’s drive of the community, placing residents within close reach of countless metropolitan amenities. Commuting and traveling from Edison is simple with convenience to Interstates 95 and 287 as well as Newark Liberty International Airport.

Property Ratings at Parkwood Gardens
If there is any contest of being worst apartments community, PARKWOOD GARDENS will win in every category. “I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and clean living environment. This place is completely infested with roaches, and despite countless efforts to address the issue, nothing has improved. Every night, roaches swarm the kitchen, no matter how much we clean or keep things tidy. The landlord’s solution to this problem has been to repeatedly tell us to clean the apartment, and each time we comply, we’re met with the same ineffective response: a quick, superficial spray and the same advice to clean weekly. This process of emptying all cupboards and thoroughly cleaning has become a recurring nightmare, yet nothing has been done to actually solve the infestation. The Super guy “Chris” such a rude person he would say you brought everything into this apartment. And the management even worse, even if you find centipedes in your apartment, they will say you brought them there. And living here will make you regret at least for ONE more year after you moved out from this place, you’ll end up buying new inventory for your new place.
I wish I could give this place 0 stars!! I moved in and moved out in less than 3 weeks. I found mice droppings and dead bugs in the apartment after week 1. I called the management office almost everyday to get the situation rectified but all I received was a bunch of excuses and lies. The management team was very rude and nonchalant about my situation. I had to get the Edison health department involved just to be taken serious. I also had to write multiple letters/e-mails and make countless phone calls to break the lease and receive my security deposit back. The reviews are true, don’t move here!!!!
I had moved in at the end of 2022, on my very first night, I had killed over 20 cockroaches. I took pictures of every single one that I had killed and sent it over to management. The front desk told me they NEVER had a problem with cockroaches in that unit. It wasn't until I spoke with the maintenance manager that I figured out that they did have a problem with cockroaches in that unit just earlier this year. They offered no support other than just spraying down the apartment, but if you know cockroaches, with that many on just one single night, the whole building is infested. I told them I'm leaving, keep my first months rent but give me back my security and forget about the lease. After the property manager sent me to the wrong address 30 minutes away to talk to the "main office", I had to drive all the way back and confront the leasing office. Luckily, it was only my first night so they were able to give me back my security and terminate the lease but I had to raise hell to get out of there. Don't even think about moving into this place.
I have called for leakage in kitchen sink last month still haven’t get it done yet. Last week called again five times and after they sent service person to have look. From last week, he told us that he will come next day and fix it. It has been week still there is no repair have been done and getting messed in my kitchen.
They are in a good location, but the maintenance is horrible. Mice are running throughout the entire complex. Management and maintenance are no real help. When they do show up the work is subpar at best.
Its quiet and the pricey is slightly cheaper than any other apartment complex that i ever looked at. Ive been here since may and my experience is very good! I love how close it is to the park and the apartment is very spacious with a very modern look.
This is a great, affordable place to live. I'm only leaving for a job out of state. It's been wonderful to be close to the train and steps away from Roosevelt Park and Menlo Park mall. There is ample parking and the one bedroom apartment I was in was VERY spacious. Neighbors in my building and in the community are very nice too. My unit was facing a beautiful stream! The only issue is that it can be hard to get a unit here. They go fast because of their location, size, and price. Loved it here.
Convenient location. Rt 1, menlo park, roosevelt Park, and train station all within close range. Decent size Unit. Affordable.
They do not care to do any types of repairs. I've called multiple times about the kitchen floor, the door, the bathroom and they have not done anything to fix these problems. I've paid my rent on time for years and they treat me as if I don't need to live there. Do not waste your time here.
Roaches are in every room. I have been fighting to keep the place clean and the roaches will not stop to come in. The halls are dirty and that invites the pest. I would clean outside my door and even mop the outside hall and still the roaches come from upstairs and next door. If you like the pest go forward it but if you do not look somewhere else. That is why rent is low because of the roaches problem.
They turn the burners on for the heat WAY TOO EARLY and leave them on WAY TOO LATE in the season. Its currently 72 degrees outside and my apartment is 86.7 degrees Fahrenheit. Yesterday was 82 outside as the high and it was 88.3 degrees in my apartment. This is with 4 out of 8 windows open. I have to have my air on high at a number 9 setting for it to cool down 6 degrees in 5 hrs. Call and complain they dont do anything. Avoid this place. Pay more for better service.
They currently (9/4/19) are advertising having 1-bedroom units available for rent. When I called to inquire as to availability, the person answering the phone was very curt and rude and said they have nothing available until November. I understand situations can change, it that’s no reason for blatantly misleading advertising.
The good - It's relatively cheaper than most surrounding rentals. Rent includes heat and water. The bad - If you rent a basement apartment, the heat is not sufficient during very cold days. Many tenants throw garbage onto the floor in the garbage bin and recycling area so you will see stray cats feasting on a daily buffet and raccoons the size of bears. Do you see how most of the previous reviews mention bugs and roaches? Well hello to those tenants throwing wet bags of rotten food on the concrete floor, you can use a little effort and throw it INTO the garbage bin. This causes bugs and animals to constantly be around the area. As far as the roaches, you can't get rid of them here. There are mentions of noisy neighbors, disrespectful tenants, and thin walls...all of the above. If you have the pleasure of living below a family with kids, you will hear nonstop running and banging on the floor. There are parking issues depending on the lot your building has because some tenants park work vehicles and extra cars so there's not enough spaces for every tenant. You will literally have to contact the office to have them file a complaint against upstairs neighbors who can't control their children. If you need peace and quiet, you will be very disappointed here.
Don't have enough parking space. Almost everyone in the compound park at a yellow marked line at the back because of limited space. I came home from my medical appointment with my 1 year old baby and I parked at the place because it was late. I came out in the morning to see a cop issuing me $93 ticket. I advice you to please think twice before moving down. It's first come first serve. You will have to park street away and walk down to your appartment if you are not home early enough. Sometimes even at 8 you will not get parking space.
