Yes, it's called Capitol Hill -- but it isn't the capitol and there's no capitol building. So how did this Seattle neighborhood get its name? Back around 1900, a real estate developer renamed the burgeoning community from "Broadway Hill" to "Capitol Hill" because he wanted the capitol to be moved from Olympia to Seattle. That never happened, and the quirky neighborhood kept its new quirky name. Capitol Hill is the neighborhood for those who love nightlife. As Seattle's premier place to party, Capitol Hill is home to coffee houses, taverns, bars, nightclubs, and theaters.
Home to artists and musicians, Capitol Hill features a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, and it is home to the Capitol Hill Arts District. College students also find their way to the Hill, which is home to Seattle Central College and is just south of the University of Washington.

Property Ratings at Patent 523
Units aren't so bad. Weirdly crappy washer/driers for a "luxury" apartment. Short walk to the train station. Packages are impossible to get, and you can forget getting takeout. Getting a delivery person in through the labyrinth of doors, gates and locks is Herculean. Fire alarms are constant. Minimum once a month, frequently twice. Always in the middle of the night, generally between 2-4am. You and your pets will develop an anxiety disorder. Do not recommend.

There are so many issues with this place. Staff is miserable to work with, had problems since before moving in and every instance since. The most recent issues was when we put in a maintenance request today for a leak. We requested they came in the afternoon since I was busy with something and asked for them to contact us beforehand. Imagine my surprise when I hear a knock at the door while staring into a webcam in front of other people; apparently they had decided to just ignore the requests we'd made, they acknowledged they'd seen them, but had chosen to ignore them. Obviously having people randomly show up to go in and out of your apartment if you work from home is a huge issue. Got no notice that they were going to show up whenever they felt like either. Spent the rest of the day frustrated and irritated. Place is a complete joke.
This place has been a complete nightmare from the start. Our tour was interrupted by a current resident who tracked down the leasing staff to complain about a problem. Wish I had paid more attention to this red flag and not moved here. The staff our completely inaccessible. The leasing office's windows are now blacked out and their our signs everywhere stating the office is closed to current residence. We have had an issue for a while now and there is no one to contact. No one seems to work at this property anymore.
The apartments are atleast 10-15% more expensive than similar apartments in the area. Which begs the question, what does Patent 523 bring to the table that these other apartments don't? And the answer would be - nothing at all. There is no air conditioning so you're left to suffer incredibly hot temperatures in the apartment during summer. There is no cross ventilation, most of the apartments looks like a shipyard container, closed on all sides except we can crack open windows. No patio or balcony. They attempt to redeem themselves with roof top, but lets be honest, there are apartments with better view than that, in Seattle and they don't have the problems which clearly this apartment has
Patent 523 apartment complex is a very well kept environment that you would look for in Capitol Hill. Once you decide to live here, things will not go wrong. I lived here for almost 2 years. Stachio must be complimented for his dedication and efficiency.
Did I mention it's in a great location? Near perfect walk score; conveniently minutes away from almost everything you could need in the North Capitol Hill area of Seattle. Competitively priced (for Seattle anyway), spacious apartments, well equipped fitness center and community room, helpful staff and great office hours. Note: If you're a light sleeper like me, I would recommend a unit that doesn't face busy Broadway.
The building is beautiful, located in a great neighborhood, and has many amenities but the lofts have zero cross ventilation and face west. This means that on the hot summer days, the apartments reach high temperatures which make them unbearable. For $2500 a month, they can at least install air conditioners.
