As its name suggests, West University is located directly west of the University of Oregon. Some parts of the neighborhood stretch into Downtown Eugene, giving residents easy access to the excitement of the city. Naturally, the area has a strong college-town feel and is pedestrian-friendly, so you’ll see residents walking or bicycling through the streets. Catering to the college crowd, West University is filled with trendy restaurants, casual eateries, cozy coffeehouses and tea shops, vintage stores, and grocers. When residents aren’t enjoying West University’s abundance of amenities, you’ll find them canoeing or dog walking at Alton Baker Park a mile north of the neighborhood. The Autzen Stadium, home of the University of Oregon Ducks, is located north of the park as well. West University has a variety of rental options available including student apartments, luxury condos, newly build high-rises, and large single-family houses.

Property Ratings at Patterson Tower
Avenue 5 taking over this building has diminished the charm, character, and community in under a year. The only good thing that comes from this company is the employment of Chris, the maintenance worker, and Jeff, the front office manager. The building is from the 1950s and is worn in and it shows through the constant upkeep of leaking/breaking pipes and the failing utilities and appliances. One apartment literally flooded with water. Not to mention this whole building is a concrete block that accentuates the summer heat to the point of a sweat lodge. While the old double pane windows (a useless storm water window design from the 1950s) has no weatherproofing or insulation properties and lets out 50% of the heat in the winter; something you'll have to pay for. My advice, buy a small electric heater instead. It will literally save you hundreds in gas and electricity. The unique charm of this historic Eugene building is in jeopardy to the careless and soulless corporate building management of Avenue5. To make matters worse, Avenue5 wants to upcharge rent before fixing any of these basic amenities. There's a lot of good people who live here, not to mention elderly that have made this place a home for years. I understand that the US is currently in a housing crisis, but you're better off getting your dream, quality "modern" home elsewhere.

Patterson Tower is in a great location and can have a great view of Eugene depending on where your unit is located. However, there are many aspects that need improvement, including but not limited to washing and drying clothes, lack of air conditioning, and very limited hot water. Overall, living conditions are adequate but can be sometimes less than adequate depending on the additional problems that arise.

Patterson Tower is a beautiful and historic apartment building located in the heart of Eugene. It is accessible to the bus lines, and only walking distance from Downtown and University of Oregon. The apartments are spacious and every one offer amazing views of Eugene, Oregon.

A ten-minute walk takes a person from Patterson Tower to the university. Buses run frequently. Patterson Tower has wonderful views of the landscape, which get better the higher one goes in the building. The residents include students, small babies, retired people, musicians, working people of all ages. You always know everyone on your own floor plus many other people in the building.

My experience at Patterson tower is fair. I love how close it is to down town but no washer and dryer in unit is hard and I don't like not having parking for a spot I pay for.

The tower is close to campus, and the rooms are very big. This is the first reason my girlfriend and I chose to live here. We live on the sixth floor and the view is pretty nice. Our main complaint is the neighbors. The walls must not be too thick, because it is easy to hear everyone. Our neighbors are also prolly louder than most. Also, we like to keep our windows open, and the busy streets of Eugene, and the leaf blower on some mornings can be horrible. Also, the building is just generally old. Our stove is pink and bathtub is green. I have heard of people getting stuck on the elevator. And other various things that come with a place built a few decades ago. If you don't mind noise, and you want bigger, more open rooms, then it's a nice place to live!
