Property Ratings at PEARLWOOD ESTATES
Two stars because the maintenance team is quick and great at what they do. The rest of the experience? Yikes. -Incompetent and extremely rude management (except Rob, he's cool) -Apartment building often smells like weed or, for some reason, a fish market -Trash is constantly littered around and inside the buildings -Tiny kitchens -We were told our cabinets would be fully replaced shortly after move-in and there has never been any follow up -Management sends the exact same bulletins via email over and over -Parking in the warmer months is /okay/, parking in the winter when they need to plow is horrendous -Amenities are shut down way too frequently -The floors feel like they have holes in the subflooring and were just covered up by laminate -If you're in a 3 bedroom unit, the middle two rooms don't have A/C and get HOT HOT HOT any time it's warmer than 70 degrees outside This is just a small list of the issues we've had. Aside from the solid maintenance, it's not a great place.
I loved it here for the first year- great location, solid apartments, friendly enough neighbors, just overall peaceful all things consider. But thats where it all ends... The office is the definition of incompetent. Prior years it was fine, but lately its been putrid at best. Between them losing numerous paperwork, eviction notices (even when you tell them rent will be a day late during Covid), amenities that we pay for continually under maintenance (the pool was closed for at least a month in the summer of 2021), we went through a stretch where at least once a week the water was shut off for 5+ hours; most of these issues if one-offs, thats fine. And that has happened before, but with them raising rent year over year and amenities being shut down longer and longer, mixed in with an office that somehow loses every piece of paper you turn in, there are better options.
The apartments themselves are perfectly nice (if generic), and the maintenance team is prompt and friendly. However the office staff have repeatedly lost paperwork and missed or rescheduled appointments. They change hours for the amenities so often that they are borderline unusable, and even with a package room we have had many items go missing. The parking at this complex is okay in the summer, but there is just barely enough space available, so when they plow in the winter you are at risk of having to park on Upper 55th St, which can be about half a mile from your building. My windshield was also smashed out in the parking lot, and there are not cameras so I would recommend renting a garage. The water has been shut of for over 5 hours at a time at least three individual times in the last six months, with very little notice. The management cares more about maintaining a "picture perfect" image to draw in new renters than making this a pleasant place to live for the people who are already here.
I have moved into 3 houses (2 of them new) and 11 apartments since my divorce and feel I have plenty of experience of different homes/apartments. Pearlwood Estates has the most reasonable rent in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, outdoor and indoor pools, very prompt maintenance, friendly staff and clean, beautiful apartments. I feel very safe and happy living here at Pearlwood Estates and know that I will be living here longer than my 1 year anniversary (moved in August 1st 2015). Connie
2 pools! Not too spendy, nice neighbors, and friendly staff. If you're a party animal than this place is not for you. But if you have a family or work a full time job, and want a quiet friendly home than this is the place! It's not too far from downtown st.paul, or the mall of america. And each apartment has a balcony.
For the most part living here is enjoyable and uneventful. Since the change in management, it has improved greatly. The staff is helpful and friendly. The people here are friendly, and it is a relatively quiet place to live with many extras!
We are moving in on August 1st 2015 to Pearlwood Estates!! I have had such a positive experience with the office staff! We have viewed our apartment and called/emailed with many questions with no complaints at all! I cannot wait to start this new chapter with my family!
