Property Ratings at Pebble Creek
I've lived here for about a year, in regards to the property itself, living here has been fine. Brown Recluse spiders in the warmer months are an ongoing issue, but the front desk will provide traps if asked, they also will bring exterminators in from time to time, but I haven't seen any reduction in the spider issue until the weather cools down. Communication is a little lacking at times, I have found signs of staff being in my apartment without any notice before. Most of the time, they will let you know.
I've been here for a few years now and I can't stand the 4.8 Star rating it has. It really deserves a 2.5 star review, however I feel that the owners of this property must have worst. (This review is a 1 star to help warn potential renters) Lets start off with the good; Location, Looks clean, and friendly staff. Located right off the highway and Mound you can practically go anywhere quickly. The grounds are kept clean most of the year, except for snow/ice. Lastly, the staff is extremely friendly and almost makes you forget they're screwing you over. Now for the bad. Rent goes up every year by at least $150-$300 a month. There is no maintenance to fix anything. The current two guys they have are months behind and are more focused on fixing the apartments people are moving out of so they can get new people to move in. If you need something fixed you're better off fixing it yourself.(I'm not kidding, maintenance will just tell you empty promises) The appliances are older than most 20 year olds living in here and are barely working.(Office Staff claims new stoves and refrigerators have been on backorder with corporate for over a year now) The apartments themselves are falling apart, windows let all the cold air in and everyone has to tape/cover them in plastic to maintain an okay temperature. The maintenance staff just paints over everything, cracks in ceilings, walls, and windows. (This is typical of most apartment places) All of the balconies need replacing, rotten lumber holding them together.(For over a year now, they've claimed a company was coming out to replace them. A serious hazard) However, the apartments are decently sound proof. UNLESS you get a bottom floor, you'll be able to hear everything that happens above you. I'm talking voices, footsteps, tv's, music, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, shower, drawers.(Ask for a walkthrough on a bottom floor, if you do come to check out an apartment) Lastly, If you pay online over their website they charge you a service fee, which is another way they get you. I hope I didn't scare you away from these apartments fully, but at least informed you more than the office staff. These are okay apartments at best and are safe. However, for the price that they are and the price I'm sure they're going to raise them to. There's much better ones out there, just take a look. Best of luck to you.
I have been living here for 18 years and couldn't be happier, the maintenance staff is excellent and the front office couldn't be more helpful, especially Kathy, if your looking for an apartment stop by Pebble Creek, you won't be disappointed ??
I have loved living here! All of the ladies at the office have been so wonderful and have helped us through anything we needed. We are so close with the one girl from the office that we refer to her as “Aunt Cathy” of which she refers to herself as that too! We rent a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom place and you get a garage and a washer and dryer! The price is great compared to other 3 bedroom places. The area is also great. The neighbors by me are very nice!
This is one of the worst apartments complex I have ever lived in. They don’t do anything to maintain or fix problems. The windows are so drafty that most actually leak. I have mold growing in one of my closets due to the leakage. I have asked for my gutters to be cleaned at least a half dozen times over the last 2 years I have lived here. Nothing. When it snows I feel I can’t safely leave my apartment due to them not shoveling sidewalks till late in the afternoon no matter when it stops snowing. I have fallen twice carrying my new born baby due to them not taking care of the walkways. Their solution was to give me a bag of salt to do myself. The appliances barely work and I am pretty sure are the same ones that were put in when the place first opened. I have nothing good to say about this place and will not recommend it to anyone I know.
Awesome place to live! Been here almost a year and have no complaints. I have an upper level apartment that is very spacious with a balcony view of the pond. I’ve spent a few weekends fishing it & yes, caught fish (for fun of course). I love the separate laundry room with washer & dryer right in my apartment as well as a full enclosed garage of my own! My apartment has a lot of windows, front and back, so it feels more like a condo than an apt. The grounds are kept up beautifully & the pool is great. Staff is friendly & maintenance is top notch. I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about it here. I love it!
Please do your research before believing any good reviews about this apartment. They have change management companies at least three times since I been here and either one of them do what they say they are going to do. The homes look as if they were painted by kids, the wiring was not installed or maintained by electricians(just this past summer a couple of town homes caught fire because of it), the ac units are old and burned out(over 15 units had to be replace after several attempts to ridge them), work orders will not be taking seriously and when they finally do come they will half do the job, cutting every corner possible, the thermostats work when they want to work, the appliances are extremely outdated, and good luck with the washer& dryer constantly working. Also they are pet friendly but the carpet inside the homes aren't. Management is just as bad as the people they hire to maintain the property, every now and again they will do what's expected of them but it NEVER last. They do not value your business.
No matter how hard you try to clean the apartment before you move out any bleach stains/carpet stains (From trying to clean the carpet yourself) penny size or bigger expect to have to pay to replace the carpet. If you have kids i would think twice before moving here. Also rent will go up every year you stay there. Don't be fooled by the staff friendliness because its all about the money at the end of the day/lease.
The place has become a real dump. They painted over all the rotten wood trim so you wouldn't realize the damage. The kids in this complex run wild. It is not unusual for the some of these kids to be out a 10 PM, swearing and breaking things around the complex. The swimming pool is "broken" several times during the summer. Pray that your air conditioner doesn't break, it takes weeks to get it fixed. You will not get a discount for suffering the heat either. Many of the renters do not clean up their dog droppings throughout the complex even though it is a rule. Lawn service is ridiculous. Not only do they do a terrible job cutting grass, they do not blow off the sidewalks so you get to walk through the piles of debris. When maintenance fixes something that is broken inside of your apartment, they not only leave a huge mess for you to clean up, they were their greasy boots in your apartment. Guess what?! You get stains you can not remove and will get charged for on move out. Make sure if you use your garage for storage that you put your items up. The garages flood every time it rains. The best part of this complex is the manager. The guy is completely rude. He does not speak to anyone with respect. Don't go and complain about any issues you are having. This guy has such poor customer service. He will not address your issues.
The staff will act nice and give "friendly customer service" but it's all an act. Kathy or Cathy however she spells it who sold me on the apartment was nice but rushes you to do everything, she was unorganized as well. I had an issue which was partially my fault and I took the blame, was apologetic and took care of my part but the way it was handled by them was entirely unprofessional and tedious. I called about a dozen times in a short period of time (I'll say roughly nine days) regarding the situation and each time I called I was told by Kathy (Cathy) she would call me back, never once did I receive a phone call back from her, forcing me to call her back to get a update on the situation. The last day I called to get in contact with Kathy (Cathy) she was not available but I was promised by another lady who worked there that one of them will call me back before the days end, I never received a phone call, So I called them and Kathy (Cathy) awkward on the phone transferred me over to their boss Chris if I remember correctly who to keep this short was beyond unhelpful. Now about the apartment itself, the location is good but the unit itself is okay, it could be great if they would spend a little bit of money into fixing it rather than rigging it good enough, for example the floor leading into the guest bedroom seemed to be broken but they fixed it by putting a piece of cardboard or a wood board which you can completely feel lift up every time you walk on it, also that same room the door knob is assemble backwards, I mean come on. The patio screen door will not slide back and forth and falls off every time you move it, the kitchen light above the sink will not stay on unless you fuss with the switch. The actual plug outlets have no support and literally push in when something is being plugged into the wall which is not safe at all. Also since day one the gutters have been falling off and no one has fixed it but there is a "work order" to fix it. The last thing is that the master bedroom bathroom had a stink of mold or musk in it which I myself took care of when I cleaned it about five times over. With the amount of money given each month I'd expect a lot more. Go elsewhere my mistake was reading the reviews and taking the good reviews over the bad ones but the good ones are likely staff written.
Are you looking for a place that makes you feel at home? Looking to be appreciated with regular community events including food? Want a garage for your vehicle? Well, Pebble Creek Apartments in Shelby Township, MI is the place for you. The property is well kept and any problems or concerns are handled in a timely fashion.
I have lived in my apartment for almost two years now and I can honestly say that it's awesome. A have a Lakeview with a view of a beautiful fountain that is lit at night and it is amazing. The residents are quiet, lots of parents with kids and retired couples. The apartment is large too, way bigger than you would expect. I live in an upper and it has a seperate laundry room. Yes, a full room. Oh, and did I mention the detached garage and ample parking? Awesome. The maintenance crew is top notch too. I had my oven fail in the middle of baking cookies. Tragic, I know. The next day? They surprised me with a brand new oven. Yeah, I totally gave them cookies for that. I love my apartment and I definitely plan on staying here until I eventually save up enough for a house.
