Property Ratings at Peninsula Grove
This place is FOUL!! When we first moved in the apartment was super dirty. There is no way they had it cleaned between tenants. The floor was disgusting, out feet were so dirty after 5-10 of walking around without shoes. Very shotty renovations. There are live wires that were taped up under our sink where the garbage disposal once was. Our hall closet has fallen off the tracks multiple times even after Maintenance has been out to “fix” it. We have recently discovered we have rat and the management team seems uninterested in rectifying the situation. After more than 5 calls, we finally reached the management team (they happened to answer when I called, they never called us back). They sent pest control over to the apartment who set out a couple of sticky traps to try and catch the rat. That’s it. A bandaid solution. When I called management team back they said the put in a maintenance request to have them come out and see where the rats are coming into the apartment. Said they would be here by the end of the week and here it is Friday, and now one has been to our apartment. If you don’t want this to be your story, don’t move here.
I was supposed to move in on September 23. Came there after work and paid deposit and everything. Went to the apartment not renovated at all
Poorly designed kitchen, Roach infestations, parking issues at 75% occupancy, Un-vented gas stoves pumping Carbon Monoxide in your face and cars shot up at 2 am. No- entry without a phone call ignored! Dryer vented into the kitchen. If you love roaches and dryer lint for dinner…. This is the place for you.

Since I only have 50 char... Lived with roaches majority of my lease, my fridge stopped working twice.! My apt was shot into while I was at work and no one informed me. Not only was I not informed, I lived in the dwelling with a WOODEN BOARD on my window for a month. Management was rude and NEVER answered the phone. My car got towed my first night. Walls are thin, hallways dirty, and homeless people stayed inside of them due to lack of security. 0/0 recommend!
There is no one that I have seen come by and clean hallways and outside areas, there's trash and boxes outside everyday and now people are starting to dump their trash everywhere and it looks bad and smells. in my building people dump their trash outside the door and it not properly closed, so food spilling out and other stuff that smells. Something needs to be done and there needs to be people picking up and cleaning hallways almost everyday to maintain the upkeep, especially since there's bugs and roaches. one of the tenants dumped a blanket outside full of roaches, this is absolutely disgusting and I like clean environments. The property need to add more dumpsters or trash units or something besides the two all the way in the front of the parking lot because people don't want to walk far just to dump trash.
This apartment is a spawn point for rats, we initially moved in to the tune of a very dirty carpet, a broken A/C in mid summer, issues with our shower plumbing ( currently still waiting on an issue with the shower to be resolved ) oh and more rats! it feels so dehumanizing having to shelter my baby among rats. I don’t understand how a place can charge such high rents being that it’s literally a hole, for rats…
Have lived here only 6 months and I am breaking my lease early. I’m on the second floor and when it rains it snows the light fixtures leak, we have buckets lined down our hallway to catch water leaking, laundry machines have been broken for months and the refill machine to wash clothes has been broken for weeks. Maintenance and office staff have been informed by many residents and still neglected to fix the. All of the machines in the gym do not work. The entire complex has dog poop no one picks up and the complex lacks to have trash or bags to encourage people to clean up after there pets. The dog park has never had the trash cleaned in the 6 months i have lived here. Beer cans all over the children’s play ground and trash all over it. Also no apartments look like the pictures proved.
Every since me and my fiancé moved in literally our first week we had to get a new toilet which took them two days to bring on top of having to go elsewhere to use restroom once they cut open my wall there must have been a dead animal my whole apartment was infested with flies took measures into my own hands took them a week and three days to even get someone to patch wall. There are RATS not mice RATS the size of your feet as well as roaches , my ceiling in my bathroom was leaking and no one came out to even take a look now my ceiling has caved in. Wouldn’t recommend this place to a homeless person

Ever since I’ve lived in this unit, it’s been an issue since I’ve walked in the door. You would think your issues would get permanently fixed right? No, they just do temporary fixes just to say they did it. There’s a lack of communication between the leasing office and tenants. The only good thing this property have to offer is the location. Besides that, you might want to look in the other direction. Lastly, don’t let them responding to this review as something positive. They’re only doing damage control.

Will not fill maintenance requests but steadily raising rent! They won't answer the phone or return e-mails. Dog park and playgrounds are overgrown with grass and weeds. Trash can in the dog park is over flowing with dog poop. Bench at playground is rotted. Seems like they dont care about thier own property let alone thier residents.

This place is infested with bugs mice and God know what else and it’s hard to get in touch with management, the office, and even maintenance who brakes the glass on patio doors and doesn’t come back to fix it or even call and say they broke it for that they are charging to rent it’s ridiculous i honestly can’t wait to move worst mistake of my life moving hear
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
Oh no, I apologize to hear about these matters you have been dealing with. If you could give us a call at (757) 383-9923 when you get the chance, that would be great. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
The property management is really inviting and understanding. However, when I opened the door on my first day, it smelled like smoke and it was not cleaned. The carpet wasn't even vacuumed. So in addition to moving in, I had to deep clean an apartment. I requested a washer/dryer in my unit, however, I was not told that there was no hook up and that I have to hook it into my sink. I have submitted several service requests for things to be fixed, and sometimes they are on top of it and other times they do not contact you. There is trash literally everywhere, sometimes residents (YES RESIDENTS) are outside cleaning up the trash. It consistently smells like weed and smoke, which it says it's a smoke free environment, its not. I would not recommend.
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
Oh dear, I am very sorry to hear about this. I'd like to go over your feedback in greater detail, so we can resolve your concerns and improve your leasing period with us. Do not move here unless you are okay with roaches, fleas, and mice.
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about this. Please give our office a ring so we can work to address the issue. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I lived here for 2 months and broke my lease. My apartment had FLEAS, roaches, water bugs, crickets, etc. Doesn’t matter how often you clean they’re not going anywhere. I’m pregnant and during my stay I was bitten up by fleas and just cannot bring my child into such a poor environment. The apartment building 2025 is poorly built, I could hear every step taken by the upstairs neighbors. I could also hear their television, conversations, and music. Absolutely ridiculous. The only pros of living here have absolutely nothing to do with the apartment itself. Parking sucks, apartment sucks, maintenance sucks, appliances suck, plumbing sucks, pest control sucks. Rent anywhere else but here.
I called to inquire about a 3 br. The call center answered, took all of my information, scheduled me to see the 3 br. I drove from Virginia Beach at 3:30 pm and didn’t get to The apartments until 5:00 to be told they didn’t have anything to show. The thing is, it’s the next day and they still have the 3 br online saying it’s available to rent now. How is that if you didn’t have anything to show yesterday and today is Saturday. This was a waste of my time and I will go spend my money elsewhere.
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
Oh dear, I am entirely sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to travel so far and not see a 3-bedroom unit. Even though an apartment is vacant and available to lease, we do only like to show our tours move in ready homes. This way you can see exactly what you would be moving into. I would like to speak with you personally to go over our available units and when they will be ready to tour, if you are willing to give us another chance. I'd love to show you how great Peninsula Grove is, including our normally excellent customer service.
I was a resident for under a year. I needed to break my lease due to a sick loved one and they were extremely understanding and helpful throughout that process. Apartment: I had a one bedroom with a den remodeled. The overall aesthetic was amazing, especially to come from the not so amazing outside to the inside of my apartment. It was extremely modern and perfect. To my knowledge , living in the first floor may not be the best bet. I’ve seen the complaints about bugs, I’ve only had a bug issue maybe two or three days of the 5-6months I was living there. However, these buildings were built in the 1960’s and they are being renovated, it’s bound to have a big problem. Maintenance and pest control were fast and responsive. Alicia & Brittany amazing and always a pleasure. Biggest problem, would be other residents not taking care of the homes. It’s never the community, it’s the people.
I haven’t even been in my apartment for 2 months yet and I’m already counting down the days until I move out. First off,the roaches/water bugs. So far I have seen about 15 roaches. They are everywhere. I don’t even feel comfortable with inviting guests over because I never know when a roach is going to pop up. I keep my place clean and I also spray to prevent them but nothing works. Second of all, the maintenance takes forever. I had to put in 4 requests before someone would come fix my dishwasher which was flooding my kitchen. I even talked to someone from the office who said they were sending someone to my place to fix it but they STILL never came. Please believe the reviews. I wish I would have. I will definitely NOT be renewing my lease when the time comes.
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
Oh no, I can only imagine your frustration and I want to work with you directly to ensure the pest problem is addressed and maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner. To begin with, I'd like to set you up with an appointment to investigate the issues, and I will see to it that our crew arrives at the time scheduled. We definitely value you as a resident so very much, and I want to ensure you're satisfied and enjoying your home. If you have a moment, could you reach out to us in the office to set up an appointment at a time that works for you? We're here Monday through Saturday.
I think it's a great place to live and I love the new gym, I do wish they opened the Spa which has been coming "soon" for a while. Maintenance does a great job when issues do come up they have always been very professional.
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
It's fantastic to hear how much you love the community, including our new gym. I know the spa has been taking a while to open, but it's on its way, and we hope you enjoy it upon its unveiling. Your positive feedback means the world to us, and we'll definitely pass along your comments to our maintenance team. They work hard to ensure you have a satisfactory experience, and they will absolutely appreciate your review.
I recently moved into peninsula grove Apartments I was concerned about the reviews I was reading but signed my lease anyway. The staff especially the assistant property manger (Brittany A.) has been very helpful. She walked the apartment with me when I moved in and addressed any concern that I may have had. I never notice any irritation or unwillingness to help. The level of customer service I have received has been outstanding. I’m sure I will be happy here!!!
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
That's fantastic! We are so happy to welcome you to the community. It has been our pleasure to show you around and answer any questions you have, and please know your kind words are so appreciated! We hope you continue to enjoy all of the awesome amenities Peninsula Grove has to offer, including the swimming pool as we head into summer!
I have lived here for over a year and have had issues since day 1. I first lived in the renovated apartment and have had to deal with cockroaches and wolf spiders. They would not let me break my lease I had to move everything to a different apartment in order not to be bit by a spider. In that event I had to renew my lease. Now I’m having to deal with cockroaches, mice, and squirrels. I have been to the office multiple times and they have yet to take care of the issue. We also have to deal with our neighbors smoking in there apartments. so we also have to smell their smoke on a daily basis. I would highly suggest finding a different apartment. The ladies at the front desk have been very rude including the property manager. All they care about is making money not how their customers want their apartments to be a home. I would highly suggest spending your hard earned money elsewhere.

Hello, Please contact us in the office at your earliest convenience. We're sorry to hear you've still been running into issues with pests and the level of service you've been receiving from our team. We understand you do not have a high opinion of us at this time, but we would appreciate getting to repair our methods of communication with you and help address your concerns. Thank you and we hope to speak with you again soon.
Do not, I repeat do not come here, it’s like a living nightmare. My bathroom is constantly leaking they come and say they fix it but don’t. The bugs are literally everywhere.Right now I’m trying to leave because I’m about to have a baby and this condition is unsafe but the really want 4 months rent in advance and they won’t move me unless I sign another 12 months lease. Run away fast it drive away
Property Manager at Peninsula Grove, Responded To This Review
We are disheartened by your review and we apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced regarding pests in your home. Luckily, we have ways of solving this problem. Please schedule an appointment with our front office at your earliest convenience. As for the bathroom leakage, we try to fulfill all maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner, regardless of high volume. We’re sorry this was not your experience. Please bring these concerns to us in-person at the leasing office to reach a resolution.
Current tenant here, just moved in two months ago! It’s a great place to live in my opinion. The amenities both within the complex and around it are great, parking is decent, the staff is nice (especially the maintenance man), the appliances work and there’s no bugs (at least in my apartment). The only downside I have is that I wish they would call when they’re going to do pest control.
I just renewed my lease today for another year! living in an apartment has it's ups and downs but I am happy in my home and when I have any issues there is an amazing maintenance team that always addresses and issues or concerns in a timely manner. SHOUT OUT TO ROBERT for being out #1 maintenance professional!!! thanks peninsula grove!!
Glad I opted to move here instead of the other location I thought I wanted to move to. Location is two mins from most of the entertainment areas and shopping areas, yet it's a quiet area. Staff are really professional, helpful, and respectful. I recommended a few friends to move here, and after checking other locations, some decided this was the best place to be. Amy in the leasing office has been amazing with my transition here from deployment, and helped make sure me and my friends have been happy with our stay here. Onsite gym for those who like to workout, and they are still finding ways to make out stay even more pleasant. If you are going to be in the Hampton, VA area looking for a place to live... I personally recommend you go see Ms. Amy... you won't be disappointed.
The renovations in my apartment are amazing and the location is perfect! I would recommend Peninsula Grove to anyone looking to move :)

This is my first apartment and at first I was skeptical of how it may be, it has been a great experience thus far and I couldn't be happier. The peninsula grove staff is very nice and very helpful. The apartment complex is at the perfect location it is literally within walking distance of anything. The neighborhood is nice everyone seems to keep to themselves and not bother anyone I live peaceful here and I'm loving it. I'm also in the military so I have a regular commute to and from naval station Norfolk I've heard horror stories of the traffic but I've never seen it I make it to work early everyday and I usually wake up later than I should. I would definitely suggest this to military families looking for a place. The renovations are beautiful the kitchen is my favorite that was definitely the selling point for me.
I love the new appliances, countertops and bathroom. Perfect for just me. Surrounded by EVERYTHING! Very comfy, cozy spot. Tons of closet space. I know I'll enjoy it here!
The remodeling is nice and the rooms are decent sized
After living in a house for forty years, I moved into the Peninsula Grove Apartments at Town Center back in March. This is a perfect location to walk to the Peninsula Town Center, Riverdale Plaza Shopping Center, the post office, theater or Walmart. The apartment I occupy is quiet, the yard is kept clean and there is a large tree which provides ample shade to enjoy the patio in the front and a variety of shrubs and trees for coolness in the back! Great place!
I have lived here for almost four years and I must say it has been much better since new management has taken over. The renovations are great. They have put in new windows new heating and air systems and have installed new outdoor lighting which is a great for safety. The staff is always wonderful and helpful.I love it
