Property Ratings at Petoskey Park Apartments
Increased rent by $115 this year and claimed it was needed to keep a "safe and clean" environment and stated that due to upgrades (a new roof on 2 out of the 4 buildings) also justified the increase. Please keep in mind that they are not upgrading all of the buildings, just some, but we are still all paying for this expense. Sprinkler systems don't work, so the grass is dead. No parking lines on the pavement, and the carports were sanded down 4 years ago to prepare for new paint, which never happened. If you have an issue with your apartment, it will take months to fix it. There are no upgrades to the interior or exterior, so you're living with features from the '80s. The property manager has even asked us to do parts of HIS job because he's unavailable most of the time to stop by. It is the cheapest rent in the area, and if you live there, you can see exactly why. If you need a roof over you're head, and that's it - this place is for you.
So, we're ending our stay with Petoskey Park Apartments after a rather long stay. I'm sad to say that our stay here has turned out less than great. First off, the AC thing is a lie. Straight up, they have AC in one building, and that building is full. Second, there is one washer and dryer per building. Hardly an amenity. Worse off then all of this however is the awful property manager Katy. You'll know her when you meet her. She's a terrible woman. She may not come off as such when you first meet her, but trust me, she is. She will talk down to you. She will attempt to belittle you. She will ignore you when you have issues with your apartment. She will wait months, even YEARS (yeah, 1 full year to fix a door that was only fixed after the police were brought into the situation.) to resolve an issue. She will give you one hour of notice before bringing a stranger into your apartment to show it to them. She will then try to intimidate you into not taking legal action. She's a joke, and after we finish moving out we will be escalating the situation legally, as she has consistently violated Michigan State laws as a property manager. From gross negligence of managing property upkeep that you will pay for, to downright invasion of privacy, she is the reason you will want to move out at the end of your lease. If that's not enough to top it off, you'll have crackheads stirring the pot at 2 A.M. Knocking over your neighbors motorcycle and screaming racial slurs. Stoner neighbors who consistently cause your entire apartment to smell like marijuana. Oh, and did I mention a driveway that never gets plowed on time because the property manager goes to Florida as soon as the snow hits? Do yourself a favor, don't rent here.
