Property Ratings at Pine Mill Ridge Apartments
Worth every opportunity to live here! The availability goes fast! These property managers are fantastic and so accommodating. We will miss the gorgeous view in our back yard, late night soundscapes of Mother Nature, and wonderful neighbors! Thank you for a wonderful few years.
I don't typically do this but if I can help someone whos thinking of leasing at pine mill...I would HIGHLY advise a 6 month lease bc your probably going to have some issue, for one you will have no access to water once if not twice a month..and absolutely NO notice of the issue....the lovely staff you may be speaking with now "if you can ever reach them VIA EMAIL" will pretty much be transparent as they are only involved in selling you...after of which any problem you may have will be directed to the maintenance PERSON, not team...I will say that he has always been kind and does the best he can considering what he's got to work with, the main downfall in this place is the communication...THERE IS NONE! Your water will be out for hours even up to a day or two and nothing is ever said or sent out to the tenets you get the lovely voicemail...you call into maintenance line only to hear a recording that they are aware of the issue (that happens twice a month) and are working on it...on a more positive note the area is quiet and the rent is reasonable solely because of the WD hookup...I know that no place is perfect but I am counting the days to leave which by the way be sure to give a 60 day notice or your stuck paying month to month rent until those 60 are up. Overall My stay has not been as planned or as I was lead to believe but you get what you pay for...this place gets 2 stars bc of location, the WD hookup, and the maintenence guy!
The neighborhood is beautiful, the location is likewise very beautiful. The office staff, if you can get a hold on them is very polite. The maintenance guy is pretty nice too, I'd trust him in my unit when I wasn't home. Now the not so good: The water is HARD, and I'm not talking a little hard. I mean your toilet bowl will be orange after 2 days, your shower will be orange within a week. Now the water is included in the rent but that doesn't make it any less irritating, If you're a woman your hair will be fried. If you're a guy, you will listen to how fried the woman's hair is. We had a mouse problem from the day we moved in. I finally put down enough traps that I think its resolved for now. Although the rent is quoted in the $500 range I am paying over $600 for a Singe BR. The walls are thin, the appliances are aging quickly, and the light switches aren't exactly reliable. Other than that though, its not a bad place to live.
I have lived here for over a year and here is what I think: The place looks very nice for what it is. Some of the rooms have great views (mine looks over a creek) while others may look at nothing. Every apartment gets a porch, and lots of people have feeders. The only thing i regret is having only two windows in the entire apartment. The place is far enough from major roads that I rarely hear cars. The inside looks nice, but some of the stuff is dated. The closet space is huge, especially for a one bedroom. Before you move in, they usually contract someone to replace or clean the carpets. During the winter, they also hire people to clear off the walkways. The maintenance guy is nice and tries to get around to doing everything, but he usually prioritizes emergencies. He lives on site, so he can respond fast to something if it is important. There are a number of minor things in the apartment would be nice if they were fixed, but I don't mind it. I suggest telling them about anything before you move in. I was able to ask about a shower head, and it was replaced before I moved. Otherwise other things are lower on their priority list. The owner acknowledged that he knows about issues and pretty much said that I wouldn't be responsible for anything when I moved out. The only utility you pay for is electricity, which is nice. The water I believe is from some kind of well, or something (I never got details). Either way, there are small traces of led and other metals in the water (I got a federal printout in spring after it was tested, and it is tested every year I believe). Everything is far below the legal standard. There is a slight metallic taste, but a filter clears it up. When the water gets treated, you will probably smell like chlorine after showering for a couple days. The dishwasher leaves a white sediment on all of my dishes, so I always hand wash everything. The heat works when it wants to. I was told something about the system cannot keep up with all the apartments when everyone has it cranked up on cold days, leaving me with a 60 degree apartment. They do allow space heaters, and I do own one because of that issue. The laundry facilities are convenient. $1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry. The facilities are pretty dirty though, and get shut down in colder months to avoid pipes freezing. I have gotten burned on about $5.00 so far from machines breaking or being unplugged. The owner said "No dogs. Cats are allowed, but they must be older housebroken cats." I can confirm that I know at least two people with dogs, though. Like most places, some people are noisy and some are quiet. I have not had issues, but I can see why some people do. Usually when I am trying to go to sleep at 10pm, my downstairs neighbor has a stereo system that is powerful enough to vibrate my living room floor when I am directly above it. But when I go into my bedroom, I cannot hear his system. The only internet provider you can get is from Time Warner Cable, but you have an option for Dish. The owner is easy to work with. I would give you details, but that would give away who I am. Parking is usually fine, unless you're getting home after 11pm. Even then, it's a short walk from anywhere I can find a spot. The only reason parking is bad is because people park like idiots. Overall it is a nice place, but like most places, there are issues. I regret having to move out soon.
parking issues and maintenece issues needs adressed at this apartment building ..noise levels are annoying and pets are not allowed but people have them and do not clean up after them..and they bark
