There’s an unmistakable charm to Springfield, a city that exudes the allure of a small town while housing nearly 115,000 residents. Blending modern conveniences with a historic atmosphere, the capital city of Illinois — and birthplace of President Abraham Lincoln — is a compelling Midwest metropolis for renters of all types.
Aside from its presidential history, Springfield is full of culinary delights and entertainment destinations. Cozy Dog Drive-In alleges to have made the first corn dog in 1946, and it’s always a popular spot. Enjoy the shops at White Oaks Mall, fun at Knight’s Action Park, and plenty of breweries just north of the city center. There’s a number of parks and excellent educational opportunities, including the University of Illinois Springfield. The city comes together to enjoy annual events like the Illinois State Fair and more.

Property Ratings at Pine Woods Apartments
I will admit, first moving in to Pine woods Apartments was a little rocky however, you have heard the expression ‘ out with the old and with the new’… that is exactly what Pine Woods has done the new management team. CJ and Katie are absolutely a pleasure to deal with and very on top of things. Being in a wheelchair myself With a registered service dog has seen the change under this new management. It is absolutely a pleasure to live here and it is an honor for me to recommend Pinewood Apartments to anyone out there that is handicap, senior, are in general just looking for a great place to live, the property is absolutely gorgeous and under the guidance of the management team is continuously improving. As far as the apartment goes itself, I am in what they call a full handicap, which is very accessible (within ADA guidelines or fairly close to it… Keeping in mind that if you have a ADA issue and take it to the management team, they will work diligently with you for that accommodation) It is a joy to live hear, in fact I plan to continue renewing my lease.
The manager extremely Rude. She talks loudly .I was about to rent . I just told her relax don’t worry about it.
I’ve been here 2 years and won’t be renewing my lease. It’s okay until you need something fixed. Of course, they want rent on time but take there time with repairs. The apartment manager is nosey and unprofessional, she tells tenants business all of the time.
The property manager is lovely till you have a problem she wasn’t handling went above now she won’t even acknowledge me return calls etc if she like you your in the clear if she doesn’t watch out quite a lot of there apartments have problems with mold black
I resided in Pine Woods Apartments for over 4 years. I liked the location and although the apartment needed updates, I stayed due to the original management when I first moved in. Now the manager is extremely unprofessional, rude, and does not know how to value loyal tenants. The maintenance is has improved, now the manager is loud and crass. I moved due to a flood of roaches and pest control is not helping.
The place needs a lot done to it. We recently moved after 14 years because quite honestly, you couldn't get anything done. It took an act of God to get the refrigerator replaced (the one that was there when we moved in 12 years before). There was a sewer back-up over the Memorial Day weekend that made our apt impossible to live in. We had to find a hotel, at our own expense, till they made the place safe to go back to. Get ready for little sleep as the floors and walls are paper-thin. You'll hear everything. The last straw? We gave our 30-day notice that we would be out by July 31 2016. On the 28th we returned to finish getting a few things and do last minute cleaning, only to discover painters and maintenance had already gone in, without our ok, and started work on the apt. A number of items we were going to pick up were gone. Of course, nobody knew anything about it. Do yourself a favor...look elsewhere.
I've lived here for almost 10 months and haven't had many problems. Yes some of the neighbors are kinda loud but mostly only on when school is out. The staff is nice but it takes them a while to get to you. It has to be a major emergency for them to come that day. Other then that the manager Nancy is very nice and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Overall, Pine Woods is a nice place to live. I come from a small town, and this is my first time living in a city, especially being 21 and by myself. I feel very safe. I have yet to have any people bother me, and I have heard the same from my neighbors. Nobody in Pine Woods right now really parties, so most apartment buildings are pretty quiet. My only complaints are that my new downstairs neighbors smoke, so my apartment sometimes smells of cigarette smoke. Obviously, the neighbors can be loud at times, but that is to be expected of any apartment. Also, after living here for about a week, I got a call from Nancy, the apartment manager, who scolded me, saying someone reported that I carried a pet carrier into my apartment while moving in. She hastily reminded me of the 300 dollar pet fee. Well, I do not have pets and I most definitely did not carry in a pet carrier, so that made me a little bit angry. However, 5 months later, I have not had any other problems. Ultimately, I like it here. If you have realistic expectations for apartment living and use common sense when out and about at night, there is no reason you should be let down. Plus, you get so much more for your money. I'm paying 630 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with a walk in closet, and they put in fresh carpet before you move in. It was awesome.
Apartment staff has days when the feel like working and when they don't. If you catch them during their nonworking working days, dont even try and call them because they won't answer. Maintenance response is pretty quick if they deem your issue a priority. The apartments are nice and the landscaping is well maintained. Pet friendly if its under 25pounds. They also have pet waste bags and garbage bins spread out evenly across the whole property.
I am moving there to start my new place with my children n hope to have a good year living there.
