Property Ratings at Pinecrest at Essex (Senior Living Community)
While there are many amenities there like frequent, fun activities, coffee groups, friendly neighbors & garden beds and a lovely location, the management could use some sprucing up to put it mildly. Another rating stated this as a "decent" place, agreed. It also suggested that "management...very strict...makes accusations without substantiation" and "apartments ... entered [for] "safety" inspections." While these are not necessarily bad things, they are taken to excess. Some tenants feel like the property manager "doesn't like them" and is just looking for an excuse to evict them. They don't want to report issues, like heat not working, breakers that flip when they vacuum and a toilet that bubbles when you flush. Management charges $45 to change a fluorescent bulb. OUCH! Fixed income. No automated doors, easy to lock yourself out (you're charged to be let back in) and only the public bathrooms have a single grab bar. Heat, electricity, water included. Grab bar in the apartment bathroom-extra. Ceiling fan-extra. AC-extra.
It is a decent building. No sound proofing in construction, you can hear and smell everything from inside everyone's apartment down the hallway. Doors are difficult to use and it is easy to lock oneself out. No automated handicap doors, can be a struggle with walker. Management is very strict and makes many accusations without substantiation. Residents are nice and we have fun, but we are all afraid of being evicted. Apartments are entered frequently and annual "safety" inspections. Cannot put anything on walls.
Although a senior residence( 55 and older) there is a mirad of activities and opportunities. Monday we have dominos or knitting and needle arts, Tuesday is coffee hour with residents providing the pastries and goodies. Wednesday is Bingo night, THursday is movie night and Friday is game nite. There are opportunities to garden with raised beds on a first come basis. The apartments are lovely, granite counters, self-cleaning ovens, individual airconditioning, washer and driers on each floor. Underground parking, elevators, community rooms make living there as social or as private as you desire. Special events like St. Patricks Day Parties and cookouts give tenants an opportunity to meet fellow residents. Close to public transportation, colleges, theatres, recrecation areas make living here fun and convenient.
