Property Ratings at Plant 1 Apartments
Cockroaches, mice, overflowing dumpster spilling into the east hallways. Building is surrounded by dog poop since no one cleans up after themselves. My apartment has had roaches for two months and I haven’t been allowed to leave my lease without paying for the rest of the 12 months.
Walls are paper thin so noise is often an issue. Management also refuses to do anything about the excessive amounts of dog poop on the sidewalks around the property. They claim the city sidewalks are hard to police, but have not put doggie bags, cameras, or any other preventative measures in place.
There is no security! Packages have been stolen out of the mail room and cars have been broken into!
I have loved living in my apartment and it is close to my job. However, due to the constant loud noise of yelling neighbors and my ability to hear EVERYTHNG that they are doing, I had to complain to management which were reluctant to help. I had to record the noise and give it to management but it went nowhere because my neighbors are as loud as ever. The maintenance staff are great and quick to help and efforts are made to keep the area nice, but since I can't sleep at night due to the noise and awakened to yelling, my quality of life here suffers. I am leaving in a couple of weeks and will miss the apartment but not the loud neighbors who are yelling now as I write this review.
Overgrown grass, heavy crime area, vomit in the hallways, floors never cleaned, trash all around the property, you will never catch anyone in the office to get a question answered , the packages are just left in the mail area (I have had multiple packages taken), with zero follow up about the incidents. The entrance way spells like smoke always, residents are smoking in the parking garage, doorways etc. Broken glass and trash surrounds the property... should I keep going Every resident I run into, tells me they cannot wait to move out, and I have never met a someone who lives here that is happy here.
These apartments are really nice, but they are very expensive also. The only good thing I can really say is that the maintenance personal were very helpful and fixed any issues in a timely manner. The actually leasing staff where greatly under maned, so when you need to speak with someone it was very hard to get them on the phone. Now with these apartments being so expensive when you move out, if the apartment isn't in immaculate condition expect to loose your entire deposit and then some. My deposit was 599.99 and they tacked on an extra 259.00 worth of charges, which they will give to you in an itemized list. I lived in my last apartment for 3 years and received some of my deposit back. All in all Ive have way better experiences in other properties that cost way less.
Since moving in, my boyfriend and I have felt so uncomfortable around the staff & especially the management. Upon signing our lease Jessica was so very rude as if we were taking up her time, but we thought she must have been in a bad mood. We were wrong. We have since (along with our neighbors) received letters and emails of all the things we, as tenants, could be doing better. The complex is set up with nice amenities & "bonuses," however there are so many restrictions and fines (up to $300) if you are not within their judgement, i.e. guests in the complex, use of the rooftop terrace, cleaning in the gym. We have yet to receive any, although our neighbors have and we feel like we're under a microscope. They have cameras for safety reasons, but always threaten to "review the cameras" when they feel necessary & will administer fines as they please, regardless if there has been issues or not. The entire company seems to run off fear and you do not feel as though you have a good working relationship with anyone in the offices. The neighborhood is rough, much more so than I expected when moving in or what I saw during the day while touring the complex. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything! I can hear my neighbor cutting on her oven :( Also not what was expected. When you reach out to management with a concern, it takes them multiple days to return the call but they are fast to send you a letter or hit you with a fine. We are very displeased with making a decision to go forth with this company. If given the opportunity to go back, our outcome would have been very different.
The walls that partition units do not insulate noises at all. TV noise, conversations, and anything else done in your or your neighbor's apartment will be heard. If your neighbor owns a dog, it will be even worse. Dog barking is amplified in these units due to their construction and design. The hallways echo noise tremendously, and it penetrates the tenants' entrance doors regularly. To any and all prospective renters, you have been warned!
I am actually not a resident, but wanted to take a moment to write a review about the management at Plant1. I was in contact with one of Plant1's sister properties and was referred to Plant1 because the agent I was working with felt their amenities were a better match for what I was looking for. Anyway, she put me in touch with Caleb, who at first, was very receptive and informative until I asked for photos of the particular unit I was interested in (which he offered to provide). He told me that he was going to send the email immediately and confirmed my email address with me. I called him back an hour or so later and he told me again that he was sending them immediately. After about 4 hours, I decided to call him again to make sure his email was not being blocked by mine. He did not return my call that day, nor my text and then sent me a text message the following evening asking if I received the emails he sent the day before. I texted him back immediately informing him that I did not and told him he could text them if that was easier. Just as before, I did not receive any correspondence following my text, so I tried calling him the following day and again, no response. He then called me the following evening and asked if I had any more questions about the property. I informed him that I was no longer interested and was not appreciative of his delay in response and that I singed a lease with another community. He never once apologized for his lack of communication or empty promises and told me congratulations on my find and good luck. He has very poor management skills and should not be in the position he is in, because I am sure the company is losing a lot of business due to his lack of organization. I would not recommend this property in any way, shape or form, because if it is that difficult to receive a response upon inquiry, I can only imagine how difficult it is to receive a response in an emergency situation.
Overpriced slumlords.. Make sure you get everything in writing cause verbal agreements done mean a thing to these people. You're just a money sign to them.
